Top 10 Best Beard Oil Reviews

Although beards of varying styles and lengths have been popular in most cultures and societies throughout most of human history (Classical Greece and Rome being two of the most notable exceptions), beards went out of style sometime around the end of the 19th century, and are only recently making a comeback.

For several thousand years at least, it has also been a custom, at least among those who had the means, to keep their beards healthy and luxurious with the use of beard oil. Certain passages in the Old Testament, for example, speak of anointed the head and beard with oil.

Beard oil remains one of the best ways to treat as while as style your beard, and it is all but essential for anyone who is serious about keeping their beard healthy, luxurious and sexy. We’ve done some sleuthing around and are ready to recommend to you some of the best beard oils money can buy.

Things to Consider

If you want to take care of your beard, then you need to buy a quality beard oil. There are quite a few things you should know about beard oil, things to consider when making your purchase. After all, your beard is a major part of your life. You should take care of it. Here are five things to keep in mind when searching for beard oil.

1. Natural Ingredients

Your beard deserves the best, and that means natural ingredients. All products are going to have something of a different composition, but things to look for include Moroccan Argan, coconut, grapeseed almonds oils.

2. Fragrance

Some beard oils are scented, and others are not. There’s nothing wrong with this either way, as its a matter of preference. But it might be a good idea to get sample bottles first to see if you like the scent before you commit to buy.

3. Volume of Bottle

It’s important to get your money’s worth, so you’ll want to pay attention to the volume of the bottle, as well as how much oil is dispensed each time and how much oil your beard will require. This is one factor you’ll probably have to figure out over time.

4. Stimulant or Conditioner

Some people like to use beard oil to stimulate growth as well as condition their hair, but not all beard oils work for that. If beard growth is important to you, try to find an oil that has verified results

5. Price

Most bottles of beard oil range from $10 to $20, but that doesn’t mean they’re really all the same price. When price checking, see what the volume of the bottle is first. The cost per ounce may be much higher than you realize.

Mens Choice Beard Fragrance Free Oil

Maintaining a glorious beard does not happen overnight. It takes time and careful maintenance, and beard oil can be very helpful in this regard. Although Men’s Choice is a low-cost beard oil, it actually works really well. It uses all-natural ingredients that help to condition your beard for softer hairs.

When I shave my beard, it’s usually because the itchiness starts to bother me. That’s one way Men’s Choice can help. In addition to functioning as a conditioner, this oil also works to soothe your skin, relieving the irritation and itchiness that sometimes accompanies the bearded life. Because the oil is fragrance-free, it’s a perfect choice for anyone who is sensitive to odors or who simply wants their beard to smell natural.

While the beard oil works well, the bottle leaves much to be desired, and it does not dispense the oil properly. This means there’s a good chance you’ll end up using more than you need and go through the bottle faster. So although this is a cheaper solution than many other beard oils, the bottle may not last as long as you think. Men’s Choice Beard oil comes in a one-ounce bottle.

8. Grave Before Shave Bay Rum Oil

Best Grave Before Shave Bay Rum OilIn college, all the men used to do something called “No-Shave November,” and we’d all grow our beards out to their fullest potential before capping it off with a meat-filled barbeque extravaganza. It was glorious.

This beard oil reminds me of those times, if only by virtue of its awesome name. I doubt most men take the adage seriously, but if you do, this is a great oil to keep that life-saving beard in good health. Grave before Shave is an oil and conditioner. It comes in an ounce bottle and features a handy dropper that makes applying the oil really easy.

Grave Before Shave conditions and moisturizes your beard, keeping it luxurious and healthy and promoting growth by limiting skin irritation. It’s made with simple ingredients and derives its scent from essential oils, including rum and coconut.

It’s a little expensive for a one-ounce bottle, and I don’t care much for the scent, but it is a high-quality oil. If you’re looking for a beard oil with a tropical flavor, give this one a whirl.

Best Manskape Wild Willie s Beard ElixirA lot of people are allergic to nuts. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find a beard oil that doesn’t use nuts as an ingredient. It’s perfectly understandable, of course; mot natural sources of fat come from nuts. However, Manskape wanted to create a solution for the problem. The answer was Wild Willie’s Beard Elixer.

Made with all organic ingredients and avoiding nuts entirely, Wild Willie’s is an impressive achievement, simultaneously moisturizing your beard while protecting your skin against rashes and dryness. This oil is a bit different from most of the others, however. It comes in a spray bottle rather than a dropper bottle, making it harder to control the exact amount of oil used. 2. The Bearded Bastard Woodsman Beard Oil

The Bearded Bastard Woodsman Beard OilThe Bearded Bastard is one of the most popular brands of beard oil. Made from scratch in Austin, Texas since 2011, this oil is scented with essential oil from local Texas cedar and is made with all-natural ingredients.

The Bearded Bastard fights dry skin, dandruff and rashes with a powerful combination of natural oils that soothe the skin while working to moisturize the beard, allowing it to be as soft and free as nature intended. Unlike some beard oils that work best with beards that are fully established, the Bearded Bastard is designed to work with developing beards as well, so no one has to suffer through wiry facial hair and irritated skin.

Woodsman Beard Oil comes in a one-ounce bottle, so it’s a little more expensive than most beard oils. But it delivers very good results, and its pine-fresh scent is very pleasant.

 Best Beard Oils Under $25

1. Beardbrand Tree Ranger Beard Oil

Beardbrand Tree Ranger Beard Oil

Like the Bearded Bastard, Beardbrand comes in a one-ounce bottle. Unlike the Bearded Bastard, the packaging isn’t nearly as pleasant to look at. You’re buying oil for the goods, not the packaging, however, so let’s consider what’s inside it.

Like several other beard oils I tried, Tree Ranger uses scents of eucalyptus, cedar and pine, along with five natural oils designed to soften the beard and moisturize your skin. Despite Beardbrand’s claims of being the best beard oil on the market, however, I have a couple of mild complaints. It doesn’t include a dropper, which is inexcusable, as other oils half the price come with one. As a result, it’s somewhat difficult to get the oil out of the bottle. The other problem is that the smell can be quite overpowering, especially to those with sensitive noses.

As far as beard oil goes, this works well. It’s natural and moisturizing and helps to soften and regulate the beard, so it looks great. The fragrance, while strong, does quickly fade, so I can’t hold the scent against it too much. But the lack of a dropper is just poor planning.

Ingredients: jojoba oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, essential oils (fragrance), grapefruit seed extract

Pros:

  • All-natural
  • Moisturizes beard and encourages growth

Cons:

  • Small bottle for the price
  • No dropper
