What You Need to Know about 4K Video Cameras

Whether you’re a professional photographer or aspiring to be one, there are some things you just can’t do without. Most professionals will already be familiar with these points, but if you’re new and not sure what to expect, here are some things you need to consider before you make your purchase.

Sensors

One of the most important features of a camera is the size of its sensor, as they help influence the quality of the video footage. While sensors are related to resolution, they are not one and the same. A 4K camera with a 1” sensor will have marginally better video quality than a 4K camera with a ½” sensor.

Sensors are especially important when filming in low-light conditions. If you’ve ever watched an old black-and-white movie, you’ll notice the film quality is often quite poor when shot at night. Low light levels affects the quality even of modern cameras, so if you plan or expect to film in low-light conditions on a regular basis, you’ll want a larger sensor.

Bit Rate

If you’re a computer geek like me, you’re probably already familiar with bit rate. Bit rate refers to the rate at which a video or audio file is encoded, and is a good way to compare the video quality of two cameras with the same resolution.

Bit rate refers to how much a file is compressed. Highly compressed files take up less storage space but also tend to have a lower quality. Cameras that record at a higher bit rate will produce better-looking videos, especially when viewed on larger screens. The downside is that they will more quickly consume storage space, meaning less video files can be stored at any one time. This leads us to our next point.

Memory

Memory refers to the available storage space on your camera. Most cameras will have a certain amount of memory built in, and all of them have memory cartridges for SD or USB cards for additional memory. Cameras with large amounts of internal memory tend to be more expensive, but they also mean you won’t have to buy as many external memory cards, or forget to take them with you if you’re shooting somewhere.

Image Stabilization

Unless you’re filming from a tripod, it is impossible to keep your camera perfectly still. The types of shots you can obtain from a tripod are somewhat limited, however, and you want a camera that’s going to film well while you’re holding it as well. For this you need image stabilization.

All good professional 4K cameras have at least some degree of image stabilization. Image stabilization seeks to limit the visual effects of a shaky camera. There are two kinds of image stabilization: electrical and optical. Electrical image stabilization is often found in cheaper 4K cameras, and is not nearly as effective as optical stabilization, which actually adjusts the lens in your camera to compensate for movement.

Of course, there may be times when you don’t want to use image stabilization, so it can be helpful to be able to turn it off. Cameras are assigned an image stabilization rating, depending on how many types of movement the camera is rated to minimize.

Audio Quality

Unless you’re filming a mime or a silent movie, you’re going to be recording audio. The more professional you want your videos to appear, the higher the audio quality needs to be. More expensive cameras are going to have better microphones, but to get the best audio, you’re going to need an external microphone.

While some cameras do come with external microphones mounted, you might want to buy your own and attach it. This will generally improve the quality of your audio even further. This brings me to one last, more general point.

Accessories and Compatibility

Sometimes professional video cameras are sold in a bundle with a variety of other accessories, such as a carrying case, tripod, XLR cables and a variety of other tools. One thing you want to consider is how compatible your camera is. Does it use universal ports, or is it designed to work with a particular brand or product. In general, the greater the number of ports – and the greater variety of ports – your camera has, the better.

This list of features and capabilities to look for is far from exhaustive. There are a number of other features that you need to consider as well, including aperture, WiFi support, lenses, zoom, and other features. All of these things should be taken into consideration before you buy a video camera.

Who Should Buy a 4K Video Camera?

Right now, 4K cameras and televisions are still something of a novelty. While 4K resolution is certainly popular, there are a lot of people who simply haven’t upgraded to 4K from 1080p yet. Whether they’re waiting for the cost to go down or they’re simply can’t afford to upgrade, there are plenty of reasons.

If you just want a camcorder for personal use, to record ball games, birthday parties, classical concerts and cute videos of your cats, you might not need to invest in a 4K video camera. This is especially true if you haven’t upgraded your television or computer to 4K technology. If you can’t watch your videos in 4K, why record them that way?

If you have professional aims in mind, however, you absolutely need to shoot in 4K. Even if you can’t watch videos in 4K, you have to assume your audience can. So if you’re ready to find a great 4K camera, let’s take a look at our top picks.

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $500

10. Panasonic Lumix FZ80

Generally speaking, if you want a high-quality, professional-grade video camera, you’re going to have to spend at least $1000. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to spend that kind of money on a camera, especially if you’re just starting out and are new at using cameras.

Fortunately, there are a few cameras that offer professional-looking 4K at a more affordable price. While it won’t match the performance of more expensive cameras, the Panasonic Lumix FZ80 is a great intro-level camera perfect for newcomers to video photography. While the FZ80 is mostly geared towards still photography, it does shoot 4K video as well.

With 18.1 MP sensor resolution, you get crisp, clear results whether you’re shooting or filming. The camera is able to shoot at 30 FPS, and it utilizes this in two modes. It offers a photo burst that shoots up to 30 still photos in a single second, letting you capture motion at exactly the right moment, and it can also shoot video at 30 FPS.

If you have rigorous video needs, the Lumix FZ80 isn’t going to do the trick. It’s limited frame rate isn’t suitable for a lot of filming needs. If you need a little bit more from a video camera, the GoPro Hero6 might be a better option.

Pros:

  • 1 MP resolution
  • 4K Photo Burst
  • 20-1200 mm 60X lens

Cons:

  • Only shoots at 30 FPS

9. GoPro HERO6 Black

When it comes to action cameras, GoPro is the biggest name in the business. Their action cameras are some of the only ones that can compete on a professional level, and they are a favorite of outdoor enthusiasts due to their small size and weight. The GoPro Hero6 Black is far and away the most popular action camera on the market, and is arguably the best video camera you can get for less than $500.

The most immediate improvement the Hero6 offers over the last-gen Hero5 is an all new GP1 chip specially optimized for GoPro cameras. This new chip offers twice the performance of the previous camera and provides superior image stabilization for crisper, cleaner photos even when you’re on the go.

The Hero6 offers both 4K and 1080p resolutions and shoots at 60fps for superior video footage. It also features touch zoom for easy zooming, and a large two-inch display to help you set up better shots. The touchscreen interface makes it easy to zoom, change your shooting settings, review footage and more. The Hero6 is waterproof up to 33 feet, letting you take cool underwater shots as well – though if you want to go scuba diving, you’ll have to buy protective housing.

The Hero6 is also outfitted with 5.0 GHz WiFi, dramatically speeding up video transfer times to phones that support 5.0 GHz wireless signals. The camera even responds to basic voice commands, making it easier for you to take pictures even in the middle of the action. If you want take professional-grade photos and videos without spending a fortune on a camera, the GoPro Hero6 Black is a surefire bet.

Pros:

  • Improved image stabilization
  • Waterproof up to 33 feet
  • Supports 5.0 GHz WiFi

Cons:

  • Battery life could be better

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $750

8. Panasonic HC-VX981K

The GoPro isn’t for everyone, but neither is spending $2000 on a video camera. If you’re looking for something with a little more heft than the Hero6, the Panasonic HC-VX981K has some great features at a competitive price. It’s three-inch screen is larger than the GoPro 6, and it comes with bespoke video editing abilities.

With 20X optical zoom, the HC-VX981K gives you a lot of flexibility for your shooting, letting you capture distant shots as well as close ones. Five-axis hybrid optical image stabilization reduces the movement of your lens, dramatically improving the quality of your handheld shots. The camera has a focal length of 4.08 – 81.6 mm and a standard illumination of 1400 lx.

One of the best features of this camera are the in-camera editing tools that let newer filmmakers edit their videos without the aid of expensive video editing software. Tools such as panning, post-cropping and subject tracking give you more video options and makes it easier for you to take complex, professional-looking shoots.

The video camera offers built-in WiFi that allows for live streaming, and it also offers in-camera editing that lets you sample down your footage to 1080p for those who don’t have the ability to view in 4K. That gives this camera a lot of flexibility, as you can shoot videos in professional 4K or edit down to 1080p for family or friends without 4K capabilities.

While this is a solid camcorder, it does have some limitations. It’s in-camera editing software is convenient, but it can’t replace dedicated video software. And while it is capable of live streaming, there are other camcorders that do it better. This is an excellent value, however, and a great 4K video camera for anyone on a smaller budget.

Pros:

  • 20x optical zoom
  • 5-axis hybrid image stabilization
  • Can quickly sample down to 1080p

Cons:

  • Not the best camera for live streams

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $1000

7. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V

The Sony Cyber-shot has long been one of the most popular digital still cameras on the market. The new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V combines powerful still photography tools with impressive 4K video technology, giving you a whole new arsenal of tools at your disposal.

For a compact camera weighing just 0.6 pounds, the DSC-RX100 has a lot going for it. It features a 20.1 MP sensor and boasts an incredible 0.05 second hybrid auto-focus system, making this a great camera for catching the action as it happens.

Whether you want to catch an exciting aerial ski jump at the perfect moment, photograph a hummingbird in flight or capture the moment your son hits a home run in Little League, this Cyber-shot is the way to do it. With 315 points of auto-focus detection, you’ll be sure to capture every breathtaking moment.

The DSC-RX100 has a number of other impressive features. At 24 FPS, it has the world’s fastest continuous shooting speed, letting you capture image after image in quick succession. The 4K video camera mode with direct pixel reading offers stunning film pictures, and photo capture lets you extract 8 MP stills from your videos to highlight the best moments. The camera also offers super slow motion as slow as 960 FPS, letting you capture incredible slow-mo footage as well.

There is no one single camera ideal for every situation. The Cyber-shot is too small to function as a video camera for all situations. It lacks the same dedicated editing software found in dedicated camcorders, and its limited zoom (3.6X) and lens size limits your filming options. But sometimes a bulky camera is only going to get in your way. If you’re looking for a compact camera for vlogging or other similar activities, the DSC-RX100 Cyber-shot is the perfect choice.

Pros:

  • Sports a 0.05-second AF system and 315 points of detection
  • Instantly extract still photos from your 4K video
  • Shoots slow-motion at up to 960 FPS

Cons:

  • Limited customization options

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $2000

6. Panasonic Lumix GH5

Like the more budget-friendly Lumix FZ80, the Panasonic Lumix GH5 offers plenty of options for both still photography as well as shooting 4K video. But unlike the less expensive Lumix, the GH5 offers far more versatile support, giving filmmakers a lot more options when it comes to filming.

Housed in a durable magnesium alloy body, the GH5, measuring 5.8 x 7.6 x 6.1 inches and weighing 3.34 pounds, is small enough to be portable and large enough to present a lot of different options. It is outfitted with a 20.3 MP micro 4/3 sensor. It can record 4K video at 60FPS/50P and 30FPS/25P/24P. You also have the option to shoot at 1080p at up to 180FPS.

With 5-axis dual image stabilization and in-body support for non-optical image stabilization, your videos will look good whether you’re filming from a tripod or from the hand. The image stabilization works to correct lenses of all sizes, eliminating blur and giving your videos the professional sheen they deserve. 10-bit internal recording works to capture subtle details often missed by 8-bit recording, working to further improve your videos.

The GH5 also comes with two SD card slots, giving you plenty of room to expand your camera for more storage, letting you film longer. You can choose to record on just one card, or you can use the second card as a backup, protecting your videos in case of accidental corruption. You can even choose to record on both cards simultaneously.

No matter what you’re looking for, the Lumix GH5 has an answer. It may not be the best 4k video camera on the market, but it stacks up nicely against the competition. To get the ost out of it in a professional setting, you’ll need to purchase additional accessories, but the camera itself is ready to perform.

Pros:

  • 3 MP micro 4/3 senor
  • Able to record at 4K 60FPS/50P
  • 10-bit internal recording captures finer details

Cons:

  • Mediocre low-light performance

5. Sony a7 III

The godfather of action cameras, the Sony a7 III Mirrorless Camera is one of the best compact cameras money can buy. Combining breathtaking still photography with exciting 4K camera footage, the Sony a7 III is everything you could ever want in a camera.

Let’s take a look at some of the features. It employs a stunning 24.2 MP image sensor, 15-stop dynamic range and ISO from 50 to 204,800, a mechanical shutter that moves at up to 10FPS, 425 AF contrast points and 93% image detection. It features an interchangeable lens system, giving you enormous freedom with how you shoot videos and photographs, and 5-axis in-camera stabilization for crystal-clear movies and photographs.

The incredible features of the camera help bring movies to life when shooting in 4K as well. The a7 III uses full-pixel readout to more accurately capture footage, and its astounding ability to capture light and shadow helps to make movies that look more real than ever before. The camera uses 16-bit processing for improved image and video quality, further ensuring vivid image quality.

Due to its smaller size, the a7 III can’t support all of the accessories commonly used in filming, making it ill-suited for long, dedicated filming sessions. But if you’re looking to capture all the complexities of real life in the moment, you don’t have time to set up a professional video camera. For that, you need the a7 III.

Pros:

  • 2 MP image senor
  • Able to record at 4K and 1080p
  • 16-bit internal recording captures extraordinary detail

Cons:

  • Too small to support filming accessories

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $3000

4. Sony PXW-Z150

A powerful, dedicated camcorder, the Sony PXW-Z150 opens up a world of possibilities. Featuring a powerful, innovative 1-inch stacked 20.0 MP camera sensor, the PXW-Z150 offers twice the readout speed of a standard sensor, resulting in cleaner, better-looking footage with less blur and superior quality.

The camera doesn’t just excel in 4K, either. It offers stunning Full Definition video, including impressive 5X slow motion, allowing you to capture fine details and observe life like never before. The camcorder supports 24X zoom in Full HD and 18x in 4K mode. This is achieved by implementing a 12X zoom lens and utilizing Pixel Super Resolution Technology to increase the images to 18X or 24X, all while preserving the fidelity of the original footage.

The camcorder offers built-in WiFi so you can instantly connect to your laptop or smartphone, and it features a 3.5” LCD panel to give you a better view of the action and make it easier for you to take control of your filming. The camera also offers dual memory slots, so you can move on to another memory card when the first is filled, or you can shoot on both cards simultaneously. Finally, the Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe gives you plenty of connections for all the accessories you need, such as external microphones and lights for filming in dark locations.

Weighing just 4.3 pounds, the PXW-Z150 is lightweight, fairly compact and surprisingly powerful. The camera lacks any touchscreen, which seems light a major oversight, especially considering the size of the screen, but that doesn’t diminish the camera’s capabilities; it only makes it harder to take advantage of them. The camera costs a pretty penny, but the performance is worth it.

Pros:

  • 0 MP stacked 1” sensor
  • 12X optical zoom with optimization for 18X in 4K
  • Accessory connections include 3G-SDI, HDMI, Multi/Micro USB, XLR, RCA

Cons:

  • No touch screen

3. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

Equipped with a 30.4 MP CMOS image sensor, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV takes photos like you wouldn’t believe. 61 points of AF cover an extensive area, and a DIGIC 6+ Image Processor ensures top-notch image and 4K video quality no matter the environment or lighting conditions. The camera features built-in WiFi, built-in GPS and an ISO from 100-32,000.

Despite the incredible sensor, however, the EOS 5D Mark IV feels lacking in certain key areas, a fact made all the more surprising because it is surpassed by less expensive cameras. Nowhere is this more evident than in its 4K video mode, as it can only shoot 4K at 24 or 30 FPS. This is still exceptional, and no worse than, say, the Sony a7 III – but the a7 has an ISO of 50-204,8000.

Nevertheless, this is a fantastic camera capable of taking absolutely stunning photography and magnificent 4K video. The 30.4 MP camera helps to bring out fascinating details while shooting, and a touch-screen display makes it easy to monitor and control your filming while in progress.

As far as 4K cameras are concerned, there are provably better, less expensive choices, but if you’re looking for a solid, high-performing camera that can also shoot brilliant 4K, this is a good bet. Even at 30 FPS, 4K will take your breath away.

Pros:

  • 4 MP image senor
  • Able to record at 4K and 1080p
  • Built-in WiFi and GPS

Cons:

  • Too small to support filming accessories

2. Panasonic AG-DVX200

Panasonic is one of the biggest names in the business, and the Panasonic AG-DVX200 is just one example of why this is so. This isn’t a simple camera to use – you’re liable to spend hours simply learning all of its functions. But once you get a handle on this camera, you will fall in love.

Capable of shooting 4K footage at 60FPS, outfitted with 13X zoom and laden with more features than I could possibly name, the AG-DVX200 is a beast of a camera. 2 SD card slots, a vast assortment of outputs for all types of accessories, thi camera has everything you need to take professional-quality 4K video.

The camera is quite heavy – it weighs 12 pounds – and the learning curve is steep, perhaps too steep for an inexperienced filmmaker. But for a season professional looking for the best camera in the business, this could give you a run for your money.

Pros:

  • Shoot 4K at 60FPS
  • Powerful 13X zoom
  • Backed by one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Very heavy

Best 4K Video Cameras Under $6000

1. Canon EOS-1DX Mark II

There aren’t a lot of cameras yet that can shoot 4K video at 60FPS; none of them are cheap. The Canon EOS-1DX Mark II is certainly not a cheap camera, but it can run with the best of them.

A 20.2 megapixel camera, 61-point auto-focus, dual Digac6 image processors, and an ISO range of 100–51200 are just a small fraction of the features you’ll find on this camera. The ISO can be expanded to 409600, capturing a staggering amount of light for pictures that have to be seen to be believed.

The EOS-1DX Mark II comes at a hefty price, and its lack of zoom limits your filming possibilities to an extent, even with 4K at 60FPS. But the saying goes that seeing is believing, and once you’ve seen what this camera can do, you’ll be a believer too.

Pros:

  • 2 megapixel sensor
  • Shoot 4K at 60FPS
  • Backed by one-year warranty

Cons:

  • No optical zoom

Conclusion

4K technology is still relatively new, and while there are a number of cameras that can support filming in 4K, there are fewer that do it well. I hope this helped you find what you were looking for, and if not, I wish you well on your search.

Top 10 Best Bluetooth Keyboards Reviews

Trying to type thousands of words a day on a bad keyboard is like trying to cut a tomato with a knife from the dollar store.

If you’ve ever tried to cut a tomato with a cheap knife, you know what I’m talking about.

As a professional writer, I know firsthand how important it is to own a good keyboard. A quality keyboard helps you to type faster and work more efficiently. Most modern keyboards also have shortcuts to a number of basic apps, such as photos, music players, calculators and web browsers.

If you’re tied to a desktop computer, a standard USB keyboard may be sufficient. But if you have to work on the go, you need something as mobile as you are. The built-in keyboard on your laptop is adequate, but nothing more.

That’s why you should invest in a quality Bluetooth keyboard. No matter where you work, whether at home, in the office, or on the road, bringing your own keyboard can make things a lot easier for you.

The trick is picking a Bluetooth keyboard that’s worth your time. There are a lot of Bluetooth keyboards out there, but not all of them make the cut. If you’re in the market for a great Bluetooth keyboard, read on.

What You Need To Know

If you’re well versed in all things computer like I am, picking out a great keyboard is easy – it all comes down to you preferences and your computer usage. For the uninitiated, however, it’s not so simple.

For example, a good friend of mine is a hardcore gamer, but he’s not as knowledgeable about computers as he is gaming consoles. As a result, his Bluetooth keyboard is a nightmare to type on.

Ultimately, finding the right keyboard does depend on how comfortable and user-friendly it is. But there are a lot of different things to consider before you buy a Bluetooth keyboard. Here are some things to keep in mind.

1. Raised Keys

Except for some laptops, all keyboards, Bluetooth or not, are going to have raised keys. The degree to which the keys are raised, however, plays a major role in how quickly and comfortably you can type. If you’re using a good keyboard, you should be able to type by muscle memory, without having to look at the keys. Just like I’m doing right now.

2. Size

One of the main advantages of Bluetooth keyboards is their portability. Naturally, smaller keyboards are easier to transport. Unfortunately, most keyboards are larger than laptop cases, so that’s not always a convenient way to carry them.

3. Numpad

The numpad (short for numerical pad) is often absent from laptop keyboards. This is annoying for anyone who has to type a lot of numerical data. Most standard keyboards have them, but a lot of Bluetooth keyboards don’t. They’re not usually found in compact models.

4. Additional Keys

A lot of keyboards today have function buttons that act as shortcuts to various computer systems, such as media players and volumes. Some keyboards, such as the one I use, even have dedicated keys to control your media player, camera and calculator apps, etc. My keyboard can even put the computer to sleep on command. Very convenient.

5. Price

While there are Bluetooth keyboards available for $20 or $30, if you want a great keyboard, be prepared to spend $50 or more. Chances are you’ll be using your keyboard for years to come. The difference in quality is easily worth paying a few extra dollars.

There are two kinds of Bluetooth keyboards – those made for comfort and those made for convenience. The Anker Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard is the latter. This miniature keyboard is small enough to fit inside your laptop case, making transportation easy.

Measuring less than a foot long and weighing just 6.7 ounces before batteries, this keyboard is slim, light and comfortably compact. It runs on two AA batteries and provides up to three months of battery life, based on an estimated two hours of usage per day. It is compatible with all recent Apple, Android and Windows systems.

The compact size does mean this keyboard has a few shortcomings. It doesn’t have a numerical pad or backlights, and the buttons are fairly small, which makes it harder to feel your way around the keyboard. This would probably not be a good choice for typing eight hours a day, but if you need a Bluetooth travel keyboard, this is a good, affordable option.

Pros:

● Compact size perfect for travel
● Weighs less than eight ounces
● Up to three months of battery life

Cons:

● No numerical pad

9. Jelly Comb Backlit 7-Colors Slim Portable Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Keyboard

Like the Anker Ultra-Slim, the Jelly Comb 7-color Backlit Bluetooth Keyboard is a compact keyboard built with space and efficiency in mind. However, this keyboard has seven different backlight colors to choose from, making it easier to see the keys.

The Jelly Comb is even smaller than the Anker, measuring less than 10 inches in length, and it weighs just over 11 ounces. The keyboard is less than an inch thick, so the keys are very shallow, and as you might expect from its size, it does not have a numerical pad. It is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows operating systems.

As much as the backlight is a great feature, the keyboard has some functionality problems with Android and Windows PCs. For example, the function buttons are not guaranteed to work on Windows computers. That makes this keyboard a great companion to iPhones and iPads, but not necessarily as good for Windows laptops.

Pros:

● Compact size perfect for travel
● Weighs less than twelve ounces
● Offers seven different backlight colors

Cons:

● No numerical pad

8. Arteck HB030B Universal Slim Portable Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Backlit Keyboard

Like the Jelly Comb, the Arteck HB030B Universal Bluetooth Keyboard enjoys a super-compact design and comes with a 7-color LED backlight. However, the Arteck improves on the Jelly Comb by offering better battery life and improved OS compatibility.

Maybe the most incredible thing about the Arteck HB030B is its weight. Sans batteries, this keyboard weighs a mere 5.92 ounces. It runs off of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and provides up to six months of battery life. Furthermore, it is backed by a 24-month warranty and is compatible with iOS, Mac OS, Android and Windows.

Even better, the backlights have two different brightness settings, so you can dim them down if they’re too distracting for you. The keyboard is less than 10 inches long and only .24 inches thick, making it the smallest keyboard I’ve ever seen.

Pros:

● Compact size perfect for travel
● Offers seven different backlight colors
● Backed by two-year warranty

Cons:

● No numerical pad

7. Logitech Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard K480

All of the keyboards reviewed so far have been compact keyboards perfectly suited for travel. The Logitech K480, however, is made especially with tablets in mind. The keyboard has a slot at the top designed to balance your tablet, making it easier for you to do the work you need to do.

The keyboard is also designed to switch easily from one device to another. With the simple turn of a knob, you can transfer control from your tablet to your laptop, a dream choice for multi-tasking. The tablet cradle is 0.4 inches thick and 10 inches wide, big enough to hold most tablets and smart phones. Unlike the earlier keyboards, the keys are thicker for easier typing.

Compatible with Mac OS X and all of the most recent iOS, Android and Windows operating systems, this Bluetooth keyboard is the perfect networking tool. Whether you’re sharing the keyboard with family members or are multi-tasking between multiple devices, this is a capable keyboard.

Pros:

● Compact size perfect for travel
● Includes cradle to hold tablet
● Switch instantly between three devices

Cons:

● No numerical pad

6. Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Bluetooth Keyboard with Stand

As the name suggests, the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Bluetooth Keyboard is especially designed to work with the Lenovo ThinkPad Ultrabook. While the keyboard may have been designed with a specific device in mind, the keyboard is not limited to the ThinkPad and is compatible with a wide variety of tablets.

One of the things I like about this keyboard is that it comes with a stand for you to set your tablet, allowing you to type and view your screen with ease. Unlike a lot of tablet-oriented keyboards, this one is thick, durable and a lot less flimsy. It also has a miniature track-pad built in, so you don’t have to rely on touchscreen navigation while you’re type.

That said, this keyboard still lacks a numerical pad, and the arrow keys are not spaced separately from the rest of the keys. This makes it a lot easier to accidentally type something when you’re trying to navigate the screen, which is really frustrating for anyone used to typing without staring at the keyboard. Overall, however, these are minor complaints of a solid, well-designed keyboard.

Pros:

● Compact size perfect for travel
● Includes stand to hold tablet
● Track pad built in for easy navigation

Cons:

● No numerical pad

5. DREVO Calibur 71-Key RGB LED Backlit Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard

I’m no stranger to video games. I’m not a professional gamer or anything, but I’ve played my fair share of computer games. I can say from experience that having a good, high quality keyboard can make a world of difference. With the DREVO Calibur 71-Key Backlit Keyboard, that’s exactly what you’re getting.

First off, this keyboard is meant for home use. It’s entirely too large to carry with you in a laptop back, and it’s thick, heavier keys wouldn’t fit well either. However, those jumbo-sized keys are what makes this a great keyboard for playing video games. Larger keys are easier to tap intuitively, and when you’re playing a hectic first-person shooter, you can’t afford to constantly look at your keys when you’re locked in battle. The keyboard has red, green and blue LED lights and seven different lighting effects you can customize to your heart’s content.

Although this keyboard is designed with gamers in mind, it works well for writing and office use as well, although the multi-colored backlights can be distracting. But since this is optimized for gaming, it does lack the numpad, which is a little frustrating considering how expensive the keyboard is. Here’s the bottom line: if you’re looking for an awesome gaming keyboard, this keyboard is great. But if you need a work keyboard, there are better options.

Pros:

● Large keys make for easier gaming
● RGB backlights with seven different settings
● Keys rated for up to 50 million presses

Cons:

● No numerical pad

4. Logitech K810 Wireless Bluetooth Illuminated Multi-Device Keyboard

With the Logitech K810, we’re back in the realm of smaller keyboards. Performance-wise, there’s a lot to like from this keyboard. It’s compact, its really quiet to use and its durable, thanks to an aluminum finish. But once again, this keyboard lacks a numerical pad.

One of the main flaws of a traditional keyboard is that they’re fairly noisy. The sound of typing never bothered me personally, but not everyone shares my nonchalance. What’s more, the heavy sound of a traditional keyboard can be a lot more distracting in an office setting, where you might have dozens of people all typing at once.

The biggest appeal of this keyboard is that its virtually noiseless. The keys are softer and more sensitive, but they’re also raised enough for good feeling, making this a comfortable keyboard to type on. It can switch from one Bluetooth-connected device to another with just the touch of a button, which is also a convenient feature. Instead of depending on batteries, it can be charged with a standard USB cable, and you can even use it while its typing.

At a glance, the K810 may not seem all that different from the less expensive compact keyboards above. But when you actually start typing, the additional price tag of this keyboard is more than justified.

Pros:

● Keys are virtually silent
● Switch instantly between Bluetooth devices
● Recharges with USB cable

Cons:

● Somewhat large and bulky

3. Logitech Illuminated Living-Room Wireless Keyboard K830

If you’re looking for a portable keyboard and don’t want to have to carry a mouse as well, the Logitech K830 may be the answer you’re looking for. Like the K810, this keyboard is USB powered, and it has a built-in track pad for added comfort and convenience.

Like the K810, the K830 features an aluminum finish for a sturdier, more durable keyboard. It also employs the same silent-typing keys. It has a Bluetooth range of up to 10 meters (33 feet), making it easy for you to connect your computer right up to your TV screen and work from the comfort of your couch. And with the track pad built in, you don’t have to fuss with bringing a mouse along for the ride.

Obviously, the presence of the track pad means there’s no room for a numerical pad here, but for once this doesn’t feel like a liability. This keyboard isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for an innovative keyboard design, this one is worth checking out.

Pros:

● Keys are virtually silent
● Track pad is built into the side of the keyboard
● Recharges with USB cable

Cons:

● Keys are a little crowded together

2. Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID

Security is a big deal in the modern age, and new threats to our digital safety appear almost daily, it seems. If you work with sensitive materials, this modern Fingerprint ID keyboard can provide just a little bit more protection for your day-to-day, using the one thing that is unique to everybody – your fingerprint.

Like the Logitech K810 and K830 models, this keyboard ditches the battery module for straight USB power. The keyboard charges through a standard micro USB charger cable, and offers up to four months of performance on a single charge. The keyboard is especially designed for the latest Windows 10 operating system, and is compatible with all Windows 10 products.

The main appeal of the keyboard is its fingerprint cryptography, however. The keyboard doesn’t just require fingerprint access to type. It ties in directly to your computer or tablet, requiring fingerprint verification in lieu of a password to unlock and activate your device. This makes it harder for would-be criminals and identity thieves to gain access to your personal information. The fingerprint key is located inconspicuously on the keyboard.

As far as typing goes, this isn’t the best-designed or most comfortable keyboard. But in terms of security, this is a page above the rest.

Pros:

● Fingerprint identification adds ultimate security
● Keys are virtually silent
● Recharges with USB cable

Cons:

● Only compatible with Windows 10

1. Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760

It’s only fitting to end this article with one more technologically innovative keyboard design. In this case, the Logitech K760, the innovation is in the solar panels. But these aren’t any ordinary solar panels, either. The keyboard can actually be charged purely by the light from your lamp, essentially providing an unlimited source of power.

In addition to its clever and innovative design, the keyboard is attractively laid out, with smart key spacing and indented keys that are easy and comfortable to use. The keyboard can switch between Bluetooth-enabled devices instantly, and the keyboard can run for up to three months even in total darkness.

There is a caveat, however. Where the previous keyboard was only compatible with the Windows 10 operating system, the K760 only works with Apple devices. If you’re a Windows or Android user, you’re out of luck, but if you’re rolling with an iPhone, this keyboard is worth the price.

Pros:

● Keyboard charges by lamplight
● Keys are virtually silent
● Can run for three months without charging

Cons:

● Only compatible with Apple products

Conclusion

These reviews focused on smaller, portable Bluetooth keyboards because tablets and smartphones don’t typically have the USB ports that a laptop or desktop does, making standard USB wireless keyboards like the ones I use impossible.

If you have any comments or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you. Happy shopping!

Top 10 Best GPS Watches Reviews

For many of us, GPS technology has changed the way we live our lives. It makes it easier to get places and helps us navigate and orient our lives. GPS trackers can help to locate a missing dog or cat, and GPS watches can do the same for your children.

A good GPS watch should do more than just tell time and track your location, however. The best GPS watches function as sports watches, providing heart rate information, fitness trackers and other details.

Thanks to advances in technology, GPS watches aren’t as expensive as they used to be. In fact, some cheaper models are on par with other sports watches that lack GPS technology.

There has never been a better time to buy a GPS watch, and we’ve tracked down ten of the best watches on the market to help you out. Are you ready to find a watch to fit your lifestyle?

What You Should Know

Watches have long been an important part of our lives, and usually for more than just telling time, although watches remain the quickest and most convenient way to tell the time.

Watches have long been an item of fashion, and are for many athletes a helpful tool that helps them regulate and make the most out of their exercise routine.

With watches meaning so many things to so many people, making a definitive list of everything you need to watch for is impossible. But here are five things that are important for almost everybody.

1. App Quality

Unlike traditional watches, a GPS watch is only as good as the app that connects it. Some apps are better than others

2. Battery Life

One major appreciable difference between a GPS watch and a regular watch is the battery consumption. Because of the energy demands of GPS technology, these watches have a limited battery life and need to be recharged from time to time.

3. Display

Most GPS watches have a computerized display, and some are easier to read and understand than others. Some of these displays are very small, so if your eyesight isn’t the best, you might want to buy a watch with a larger digital face.

4. Strap

A weak strap or a broken buckle can render even the best watch pointless. The material of a strap determines both its strength and its comfort level, so be sure to pick one that you’re not going to mind wearing.

5. Price

An entry-level GPS watch costs less than $100. A high-end watch can cost $500 or more. Low-end watches won’t have all the features of a more expensive watch and may have inferior battery life.

10. TomTom Runner GPS Watch

The face of a watch has always been important, and that counts double for a GPS watch. Smart, intuitive designs are essential for a good GPS watch. That’s one thing the TomTom Runner GPS watch has going for it right off the bat, with a stylish, easy-to-read screen that gives you all the information you need to know.

As the name implies, this watch is designed with runners in mind. It keeps track of a number of vital statistics, such as time, pace, calories burned, distance covered and over various live statistics.

It can be paired up with a heart rate monitor as well. The watch has built-in training programs that let you measure your workouts against your own effectiveness.

The watch is stylish, lightweight and waterproof up to 165 feet. It has Bluetooth capabilities and comes with a USB charger to keep it powered up and running.

This watch lacks some of the advanced features that more expensive watches have, but it’s a great introductory/low-cost watch to get you started.

Pros:

● Attractive, easy-to-read display
● Measures speed, pace and other statistics
● Waterproof up to 165 feet

Cons:

● Takes a long time to sync up with app

When you’re serious about fitness, you need a good watch to help you keep track of all of your fitness information.

When you can keep track of your progress from day to day, it becomes that much easier to motivate yourself and watch your progress develop.

The Garmin vívoactive Black helps you to do just that. This smartwatch actually has a built-in fitness app that works independently of the accompanying app on your smartphone, allowing you to look up vital your information without having to pull out your phone.

The app tracks activities such as hiking, running, biking and golfing.

The battery lasts up to 10 hours with GPS tracking enabled or up to three weeks without it. It also comes with a heart monitor to keep track of your vital statistics and help you get the most out of your workouts. The watch sometimes has trouble connecting to the app, but is otherwise an excellent product.

Pros:

● Built-in smart app lets you track your information
● Comes with a heart rate monitor
● Battery lasts up to three weeks on a single charge

Cons:

● Has some app connectivity issues

8. Epson ProSense 57 GPS Running Watch

The Epson ProSense 57 GPS Running Watch lacks the modern-looking display of the TomTom and Garmin GPS watches and looks instead like a more traditional digital watch display. But the face still displays a lot of valuable information, including a heart rate monitor.

The Epson ProSense uses GPS technology to provide accurate information on your speed, distance, route, calories burned and other information.

The watch has a wrist-based heart monitor built in that monitors your heart rate without the need for additional peripherals. It has an easy navigation screen and offers up to ten hours of battery life with the GPS sensor turned on.

Much like the Garmin vívoactive, this watch is not waterproof and can’t be used underwater. However, it is a great watch for exercising. Its display is easy to read, and the built-in heart rate monitor is super convenient.

Pros:

● Easy to read display
● Comes with built-in heart rate monitor
● Battery lasts for 10 hours with GPS tracking

Cons:

● Can’t be used underwater

7. TomTom Runner 3 Music GPS Fitness Watch

Music is an integral part of the exercise routine for many people, myself included. Listening to the right music not only helps to set the tone, but it also serves to motivate and inspire you, helping you to get the most out of your exercise.

The TomTom Runner 3 makes it easier to listen to your beats while you work out. The watch has three GB of storage, letting you listen to hours of music, audio books, or whatever it is that motivates you while you exercise.

It comes with Bluetooth headphones that connect directly to the Runner 3, so you don’t have annoying cables getting in your way.

Like the TomTom Runner, the Runner 3 also provides feedback on all your exercise information, including time, distance, speed, pace, calories burned, and more. It works with heart rate monitors, although they are not included, and it is waterproof up to 40 meters, or 130 feet.

Pros:

● Attractive, easy-to-read display
● Has 3 GB of music storage
● Waterproof up to 130 feet

Cons:

● Takes a long time to sync up with app

6. Garmin vívoactive HR GPS Smart Watch

The Garmin vívoactive GPS Smart Watch is a new and improved model of the vívoactive Black, providing you with heart monitoring technology without the need for a second attachment.

It also features a modernized display that makes it easy to keep up to date with your exercise routine.

Like the vívoactive Black, this watch has several built-in apps, including running, biking, golf and intensity tracking, all of which let you keep track of important information specific to each of these activities, such as distance covered, number of steps, pace, stride and other statistics. The use of touchscreen makes it easier to use your watch.

One of the biggest draws of this watch is its customization. It is compatible with over 13000 different apps, allowing you to control every aspect of the display to your liking, as well as downloading specific apps to help you work on particular exercises.

It is the ultimate in smartphone-meets-smartwatch, giving you ultimate control over the world of exercise.

The main downside is that the battery life isn’t very good. Even with the GPS off, the watch only runs for 8 days. Still, it’s a minor complaint of an otherwise excellent piece of technology.

Pros:

● Built-in smart app lets you track your information
● Comes with a heart built-in rate monitor
● Display can be customized with downloadable apps

Cons:

● Poor battery life

5. Epson ProSense 307 GPS Multisport Watch with Heart Rate

The Epson ProSense 307 GPS Multisport is the latest in Epson’s GPS watch technology. It takes the best of what the ProSense 57 did and pairs it with a hip, stylish strap design to make an attractive, modern watch that’s sure to please.

Like the ProSense 57, the 307 is designed for easy navigation, with just five buttons giving you full control over the display and all of your exercise functions.

It has a heart rate monitor built into the strap, so you never have to worry about buying or wearing any additional hardware, which is inconvenient and sometimes uncomfortable.

The biggest difference between the ProSense 307 and the 57 – or almost any GPS watch, for that matter, is the battery life. The watch has a battery life of 20 hours with the GPS activated, almost twice as much as the average GPS watch.

This is perfect for anyone who is away from home for a while and doesn’t have the ability to charge it right away.

The watch lacks the customization of the Garmin vívoactive HR, but it makes up for it with improved battery life. Not everyone needs a GPS watch with a 20-hour battery life, but if that’s what you’re looking for, this is a great fit.

Pros:

● Easy to read display
● Comes with built-in heart rate monitor
● Battery lasts for 20 hours with GPS tracking

Cons:

● Can’t be used underwater

4. Garmin Forerunner 235

The Forerunner 235 is yet another advanced exercise watch from Garmin. The 235 is outfitted with an extra large watch face that’s super easy to read and displays colorful charts and graphs to help you get more out of your training exercises.

As the name indicates, the Forerunner is built especially with runners in mind and has powerful app tools to help you get the most out of your fitness routine.

The Forerunner 235 is Bluetooth-enabled and connects straight to your phone, providing you with real-time audio updates on various information, such as alarms, lap times and other figures.

In addition, the watch can provide you notifications of e-mails, text messaged or missed phone calls so you can know when to check – or not check – your phone when you’re exercising.

Also built-in is a heart rate monitor, conveniently bypassing the need for a second device. The watch has 11 hours of battery life in training mode and provides up to 9 days of standard operation, depending on how frequently the GPS feature is turned on.

If you’re looking for an exercise companion that works in sync with your phone, the Forerunner is a great choice. In fact, it’s the best-selling Garmin Forerunner on Amazon, so clearly they’re doing something right.

Pros:

● An extra-large display is easier to read
● Comes with a heart built-in rate monitor
● Battery lasts for 11 hours with GPS tracking

Cons:

● Heart monitor not as accurate as independent units

3. Garmin Forerunner 920XT

The Garmin Forerunner 920XT is similarly priced to the Forerunner 235, but they’re clearly different watches with different functions. Both are marketed towards running athletes, but the digital display of these two watches is quite a bit different.

If you’re measuring running performance, a heart monitor is essential. That’s why the 920XT has a heart monitor built right in.

The heart monitor measures statistics like cadence, vertical oscillation and how long you maintain ground contact and uses this information to provide valuable feedback on your performance. It also measures metrics such as your record speed, distance covered, the grade of the terrain and more.

Like the Forerunner 235, the 920XT is also powered by Bluetooth and outfitted with alert notifications to inform you of important phone calls or reminders.

A variety of information is available on the screen, including detailed charts and graphs that detail your performance ratings.

Personally, I think the 920XT is superior to the 235, but the 235 is more popular. They are both competitively priced, and at the end of the day, it comes down to preference.

Pros:

● Advanced technology keeps track of advanced metrics
● Comes with a heart built-in rate monitor
● Activity alert notifications keep you in the loop

Cons:

● Initial watch setup is a hassle

2. Garmin Forerunner 735XT

I’m not really sure what kind of numerical system Garmin uses to categorize their Forerunners, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. That said, the Forerunner 735XT is still a workhorse of a GPS watch, with all the advanced features you need to take your exercise to the next level.

One of the great features of this watch is that it has apps tailor-made for a variety of different forms of exercise.

From running, swimming and cycling to hiking, cross-country skiing, and rowing, this watch is programmed to assist you with virtually any cardio-vascular exercise. And yes, that includes basketball too.

Like the other Forerunner models, the heart rate monitor is built in and doesn’t require a second strap.

It also features smart notifications, as well as other conveniences such as audio prompts and media controls that make it easier to work out the way you want and get access to the data you need more quickly.

The one thing I don’t like about this watch is that the interface doesn’t seem nearly as streamlined as the 235 or 920XT. That said, this is a great GPS watch with plenty of features, and it’s well worth the money.

Pros:

● Advanced technology keeps track of advanced metrics
● Comes with a heart built-in rate monitor
● Activity alert notifications keep you in the loop

Cons:

● Display information isn’t as colorful

1. Garmin fēnix 3

The Garmin fēnix 3 is a gorgeous, modern, streamlined watch that combines the latest in GPS and sports technology with a timeless aesthetic, including a traditional clock face when the various exercise apps aren’t in use.

Unlike the Forerunner series, the heart rate monitor is not built into the watch, although it is included in a separate bundle.

The watch is rated for a depth of 100 meters, or 330 feet, making it suitable for swimming and water sports.

It also uses an omni-directional EXO antenna which magnifies its GPS performance for more accurate results.

The fēnix 3 also has excellent battery life. With 20 hours of GPS battery life, it rivals the ProSense 307 as the longest-lasting GPS watch on the market.

When you combine that with its timeless appeal and advanced fitness apps, the fēnix 3 makes for an excellent, if somewhat expensive, sports GPS watch.

Pros:

● Waterproof up to 330 feet
● EXO antenna boosts GPS effectiveness
● Battery lasts for 20 hours with GPS tracking

Cons:

● Heart monitor not built in

Everything is getting smarter. Our televisions, our phones and our cars can do more than ever before, and now, so can our watches.

Top 10 Best 4k Monitors Reviews

4K technology has taken the entertainment world by storm. In my opinion, however, 4K computer monitors are way more important than 4K televisions.

Why do you ask? Let me explain.

When people watch television, particularly as a social activity, they watch it from the comfort of a coach or an armchair (or maybe their bed). Some people watch it on smart phones, but no one gets a full movie experience out of that.

The point is, watching a movie on a TV is an event. A social occasion. But because of the distance between yourself and the screen, you’re not getting as much benefit as with a computer.

With a 4K monitor, you’re right up there where the action is. Because you’re closer to the screen, the improved resolution is all the more evident. If you’re a gamer, buying a 4K monitor is the ultimate goal.

That’s all well and good, but do you know what separates a good 4K monitor from just an okay one? The next section goes over five points you need to consider before opening your wallet.

Things to Consider

If you’re a computer geek like me, there’s nothing casual about your computer. This is especially true of those who build their computers as I do. Every single component has to be just right. Since your monitor is critical to your computer experience, it is essential that you pick the right monitor. Here are five things you need to know beforehand.

1. Dimensions

There are loads of different monitors with equally different dimensions. The optimal size of a monitor depends on upon what you will need the monitor for, and how often you are going to be using it. Of course, the dimensions ultimately depend on upon what will work for your work or viewing pleasure. For some people getting a monitor that is as big as they can possibly get is the way to go, but for others, a monitor that is about 23-24″ is big enough. In line with this, it is important for you to consider what dimensions would work best for you and as a result you should then pick whatever size, and dimension monitor that you would feel most comfortable with.

2. Usage

Depending on what you will be using your 4K monitor for can affect what features are the most important for you to consider when buying your monitor. For gaming, having a good refresh rate is essential, whereas for design, having a large screen that enables the screen to be split can be the most important considerations for you to have when buying the monitor.

3. Refresh rate

The refresh rate is an important consideration for anyone looking to buy a new monitor because it determines how quickly a monitor can refresh the image that is being displayed on the screen.

The faster the refresh rate, the better because it will enable you to switch between images, and also enable you to see your games flow more smoothly because there will be less lag time between hitting buttons and seeing the actions created either during a game or in a design context.

4. Resolution

There are many different options for monitors in terms of resolution, but obviously, if you are keen to find a monitor that will enable you to experience the very best in gaming, design and movie watching then you need to find a monitor that has a very high resolution.

However, as the highest resolution technologies are new, these monitors can lack the best refresh rates.

Therefore, although, the highest-resolution monitors (1440p & 4K) can display stunning pictures, they can lack the higher refresh rates and so it is important to consider what features you actually need, and you may realize that you can sacrifice some resolution for refresh rate speeds.

5. Price

Price is always one of the most important considerations to make when you are buying anything, and that is no different when you are buying a 4K monitor.

Prices for monitors vary from under $400 to more than $8000, so in order to find your ideal monitor, it is important for you to set some guidelines as to what you need, and what features may not be so essential.

Buying the most expensive monitor does not always mean that you will be getting the best 4k monitor, so make sure to do some research, and come up with a budget that will work for you and your needs.

Conclusion

As technology continues to progress, more and more monitors will be switching over to 4K resolution by default. Eventually, even video games will be programmed and developed in native 4K, hindering the playing experience of anyone using 1080p or 720p. Eventually, high-definition and full-definition resolutions will become as obsolete as the 800×600 resolution that dominated PC games in the late ‘90s.

Don’t be left behind. The sooner you upgrade to a modern monitor the better. Thanks to the prevalence of UHD resolution monitors now; you don’t even have to pay that much to make the switch. There has never been a better time to upgrade to the modern era.

Top 10 Best WiFi Router Reviews

Strictly speaking, you don’t need a wireless router to get internet service. A wireless modem is all you need. But if you want excellent internet access, a WiFi router is hardly optional.

There are some reasons why you should get a WiFi router. Let’s break it down briefly, shall we?

For starters, there’s security. While some internet modems are equipped with a basic firewall, wireless routers offer far more protection against hostile attacks than a modem by itself. While a router can’t protect your computer from viruses, it does have built-in firewalls that work to protect you from hackers or people who might want to steal your data.

This ties into the next reason you want a WiFi router: wireless protocols. One thing a router does is it mixes up and complicates your wireless signal, making them harder to hack. But by updating your internet protocols, they also allow your computer, gaming console and other devices to take advantage not just of the latest security, but the latest technology. This leads to better connectivity, faster results, and quicker download and upload speeds.

That’s right. WiFi routers make the internet better.

Of course, it’s also important to consider the wireless standards of your computer and other internet devices. All computers are rated to work with a certain classification of a router, known as a Wi-Fi AC specification. You reap no benefits if your computer’s wireless rating is better than the rating of your router. This means that it can be a good idea to update your router along with your computer.

Now that you know a thing or two about why you should get a WiFi router let’s talk about what features you should look for in an individual unit.

Things to Consider

Your internet speed may be only as good as your modem, but your Wi-Fi connection will only be as good as your router.

As much fun as it is to talk in riddles, what exactly do I mean by this? Well, it’s simple. When you log onto the internet with a Wi-Fi connection, your speed will be much faster if you have a wireless router, rather than simply piggy-backing off of your modem.

But the speed of the Wi-Fi signals is directly connected to the speed of the router. This means that if your modem has a speed rating of 750 Mbps but your router can only handle 300 Mbps, your Wi-Fi connection will be tied to the slower speed of the router.

This is just one thing you need to consider before buying a router. There are several other factors to remember as well.

1. Speed Rating

It’s important to make sure your router is rated for the same speed rating as your modem and your internet service connection. Otherwise, you’re just shooting yourself in the foot. Conversely, however, a router that is rated for a higher speed connection than your modem or internet service provides will also be tied to the slower speed.

2. Internet Protocol

There are several different internet protocols. The three most popular are 802.11ac, 802.11n and 802.11g. Knowing which protocol your modem and internet service is running off of will help you to buy a better router.

3. Compatibility

Just as not all modems are compatible with all internet service providers, not all routers are necessarily compatible with all modems. Compatibility may be limited by the internet protocol you’re running, or it could be limited by a competing brand.

4. Style

For most of us, the style of our router isn’t all that important. It sits in our office somewhere, quite possibly out of site, except for when we want to connect a device to it. But for others, a stylish router is a big deal. It’s good to know what you want, but don’t pay extra for a fancy design you don’t care about.

5. Price

Unfortunately, the price will often be a driving factor in what kind of router you purchase. Faster routers will always be more expensive, sometimes even prohibitively so. However, it is always best to try to match up your router with your modem speed if at all possible.

9. TP-Link N150 Wireless Nano Travel Router

TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 RouterAlthough most wireless routers are designed for home or office use, there are exceptions to the rule. 5. TP-Link AC1900 Long Range Wi-Fi Router

TP Link Long Range Wi Fi RouterTP-Link backs their Wi-Fi routers with the best warranty in the industry, which is just one reason to love the TP-Link AC1900 Long Range Wi-Fi router. The other reason to love it is the fast wireless download speeds it allows.

To be fair, there’s a lot to like about this particular AC1900 wireless router. 3. ASUS Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router

ASUS (RT-AC68U) Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit RouterOnce upon a time, this was the fastest Wi-Fi router in the world. Now, of course, there are routers capable of handling download speeds even internet service providers can’t provide. Nevertheless, the ASUS Dual-band AC1900 Gigabit router is a very capable device.

Its dual-band data streams at rates of 600 and 1300 Mbps. A 1GHz dual-core processor keeps the connections clear, and many LAN ports are provided, as well as a WAN connection. Also, there are ports for both USB 2.0 and 3.0.

None of these things is a surprise by now. This is all sort of what you expect from a wireless router. So what makes the ASUS AC1900 stand out from other companies? This router gives you local access to the ASUS AiCloud, a private cloud that allows you to share files and documents privately with family and friends connected to the same wireless network. Aside from being a little loud, this router offers stellar performance.

Pros:

  • Speeds up to 1900 Mbps
  • Creates a local, private cloud to share files with family and friends
  • Three antennas improve wireless stability and coverage

Cons:

  • Router is a little loud

2. Securifi Almond 3

Securifi Almond 2015 Touchscreen Router Range ExtenderSecurifi Almond 3 is a completely different type of wireless range extender. Instead of functioning solely as a router, the Securifi Almond can also function as a WiFi extender. You can combine it with multiple Almond 3s to improve your range and wireless functions.

One of the big differences between the Securifi Almond and other WiFi routers is its interface. The Almond was the world’s first touchscreen wireless router, and its touchscreen interface makes it easier to install the Almond and manage your wireless household. The Almond 3 uses a wireless mesh system to blanket your house in a new kind of wireless connection with better reception and coverage. The Almond 3 offers dual-band 2.4 Ghz/5.0 GHz at speeds of up to 1300 Mbps. It is compatible with the latest security standards and wireless protocols.

The main problem with the Almond 3 is that it isn’t compatible with ordinary range extenders. While you can always purchase additional Almond 3 units, they cost well over $100 each. Although they cover a greater area than a standard range extender, they’re also significantly more expensive. A single Almond 3 router can cover an area of approximately 1300 square feet, so if you have a large home or office, the Securifi Almond can be an expensive way to go.

Pros:

  • Speeds up to 1300 Mbps
  • 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz dual-band networks
  • Combines with additional units for superior range

Cons:

  • Extending your network area is fairly expensive

Top 10 Best Baby Monitor Reviews

There is nothing more important to you than the health and safety of your baby.

That’s why you need to make sure to invest in a good baby monitor.

To be sure, not every family needs an expensive monitor. While some people keep a nursery for their child, others prefer to keep the baby’s crib in the bedroom with them while they sleep.

A baby monitor isn’t just useful for when you’re sleeping. While pack-n-play cribs can be set up in the living room, it simply isn’t possible for you to be in the presence of your child every minute of the day. Even mommies need to take a break occasionally.

If you’re new to parenting, I can relate. I also know that preparing for a baby can be overwhelming. There are so many things you have to buy, from cribs to breast pumps to baby blankets. Shopping for all these things can be a challenge, and guides like this can make the process easier. By giving you helpful information and providing a list of recommended products, we make it easier for you to get back to doing what’s most important – being a parent.

You need all the help you can get.

Things to Consider

5. Analog or Digital

In our modern age, almost everything it seems has a digital counterpart. Baby monitors used to be simple audio devices that transmitted sound, but many modern baby monitors are digital and can encrypt the audio so that only someone with the right code can listen in.

4. Audio or Video

Again, another innovation of the modern age is video baby monitors. While these existed even in the ‘90s, they were very expensive back then. Cameras are cheaper to make now than ever before, which makes it easier for you to keep a video feed on your baby at all times. After all, a baby can get into a lot of trouble without making a sound.

3. Receivers and Transmitters

Another big thing to consider is how many transmitters and receivers there are. Some monitors come with two receivers and two transmitters. This allows you to monitor several rooms at once, and it also means you can leave receivers in rooms you frequent, in case you accidentally leave your other receiver behind. It also allows you to share a receiver with your significant other, a grandparent, etc.

2. Portability

Portability is an important thing to look for in a baby monitor. After all, you don’t necessarily want to carry around a bulky receiver with you everywhere you go.

1. Price

How much you’re willing or able to spend will play a huge role in what kind of baby monitor you’ll receive. But you should also consider what features you need. Some monitors have flashing lights, and others go so far as to monitor your baby’s vital signs. While helpful, these features are not essential for everyone.

10. LeFun 720p Wireless Surveillance Camera for Baby Monitor

LeFun Wireless Baby Monitor Camera

Just a decade ago, the vast majority of baby monitors were audio only. Video monitors existed, but even the cheapest models were several hundred dollars. Today, however, high-definition cameras are built into cheap laptops and inexpensive cell phones. If you’re a parent of an infant or toddler, this is wonderful news, because now you can have a constant video/audio feed on your infant at all times.

While the LeFun 720p Wireless Surveillance Camera is not a high-end model, but it still has a lot of features that make it both easy and convenient to use. Unlike more expensive models, the LeFun Baby Monitor does not have a dedicated receiver. However, using its WiFi connection, it can connect directly to your smartphone or computer, allowing you to access a live stream from any connected device. This connection also extends to audio signals, allowing you to both hear your baby and talk or sing to them over your cell phone or computer mic. LeFun is backed by a one-year warranty.

That said, this baby monitor has some issues. The most important one, of course, is the lack of a dedicated receiver. Because you’re using your phone for your live video feed, your connection to your child could be disrupted by a phone call or some other distraction. Connecting the WiFi setup to work with your electronic device is also very frustrating. While this isn’t a perfect monitor, it is one of the cheapest on the market, and a good choice for those who want a video feed but can’t afford to spend a lot of money.

Pros:

  • Camera has resolution of 720p
  • WiFi signal connects directly to your smartphone or other electronic device
  • Backed by a one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Does not have a dedicated receiver
  • WiFi is difficult to set up

9. VTech DM221-2 Safe & Sound Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Two Parent UnitsVTech DM221 Digital Audio Baby Monitor

The Vtech DM22-12 Safe & Sound Audio Baby Monitor is one of the only baby monitors on this list that is strictly audio-only. Despite its lack of a camera, this baby monitor has a lot of things going for it that make it one of the best values on the market.

One of the nice things about this baby monitor is that it records digital audio rather than analogue audio. This means you don’t get any of the annoying white noise that so often accompanies analogue technology. The monitor is easy to set up in your baby’s nursery, and it includes two parent units. The receivers are outfitted with a two-way intercom so that you can coo your child back to sleep without having to leave the comfort of your bed at three in the morning. The receivers can run for up to 18 hours on a rechargeable battery, or you can use AAA batteries and avoid constant charging.

The receivers include a belt clip for hands-free use, and beep if the connection to the mother unit is lost or when the batteries are low. Although the units come with English preset, French and Spanish are also available on the menu. Also, a visual sound indicator lets you keep track of the noise level in your baby’s nursery at a glance. The absence of a camera may be a concern for some parents, but for an audio-only baby monitor, this is an excellent value.

Pros:

  • Baby monitor includes two parent units
  • Receivers run for up to 18 hours on a single charge
  • Two-way intercom allows you to talk to your baby from another room

Cons:

  • Does not have a camera

8. Foscam FBM2307 Digital Video Baby MonitorFoscam FBM2307Wireless Digital Video Baby Monitor

Unlike the LeFun monitor, which functioned better as a multi-purpose surveillance camera rather than a baby monitors proper, the Foscam FBM2307 Video Baby Monitor provides parents with a dedicated video receiver. This makes it easier to keep tabs on your child while still allowing you full use of your smartphone.

The Foscam offers a compact video camera that discreetly monitors your baby while she is in the crib and transmits live video feed to your receiver. Multiple cameras can be set up as well, allowing you to easily switch between cameras for multiple rooms without worrying about moving the camera every time. The baby monitor transmits video and audio feed live via a 2.4 GHz wireless connection. The baby monitor is outfitted with invisible infrared LED lights for night vision and is backed by a one-year warranty.

The main problem with the monitor is that it is not compatible with a Bluetooth connection. Since the baby monitor doesn’t have its IP, it cannot connect to your wireless network, and can only communicate directly with the parental receiver. The other problem is battery life – the receiver only runs for three to four hours on a single charge.

Pros:

  • Baby monitor connects to your receiver through 2.4 GHz connection
  • Support for multiple camera monitors
  • Backed by one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Very poor battery life

7. Babysense Video Baby Monitor

Babysense Video Baby Monitor

The Babysense Video Baby Monitor is a major step up in quality from the previous video monitors on this list. Although it does not support a Bluetooth connection, it has a very strong wireless signal and is loaded with more features than I have time to list.

First off, the signal strength on the receiver is amazing. The 2.4 GHz digital wireless technology extends up to 900 feet from the monitor. This frees you up for quick excursions outside to take out the trash or check the mail without worrying about whether your baby is okay while you do it. In addition to providing you with a constant audio-visual feed, the baby monitor monitors the room temperature, offers alarms and timers, zooms in, comes with infrared night vision and even plays lullabies for your sleeping angel.

Also, the Babysense can be expanded to include up to three additional cameras. This allows you to have cameras set in place for all the rooms your child frequently spends time in, saving you from the hassle of remembering to move the baby monitor every time you set up the portable crib in the family room. The video receiver uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and alerts you both if you’re going out of range and if your battery is getting low. If you can afford to spend a little more on a baby monitor, this is a wonderful choice for your family.

Pros:

  • 2.4 GHz wireless extends up to 900 feet
  • Support for multiple camera monitors
  • Monitors the room temperature to keep your child comfortable

Cons:

  • Monitor has a very short power cord

6. Philips Avent DECT Baby Monitor with Temperature Sensor and Night Mode

Philips Avent DECT Baby Monitor

Philips Avent is known for producing a wide range of electronic products for mothers and their infants, and baby monitors are no exception. The Philips Avent DECT Baby Monitor is not only competitively priced with the Babysense baby monitor; it offers a similar array of features as well.

Like the Babysense, the Philips Avent DECT has a range of up to 900 feet, giving you freedom of movement to take care of chores around the house and yard without fear of accidentally walking out of signal range. Instead of transmitting on a wireless network, it uses DECT technology to transmit audio clearly over radio waves. The receiver has a docking station for easy charging, monitors room temperature in your baby’s room. It allows for talk-back with your baby and comes with both lullabies and night lights for bedtime.

The biggest difference between this model and the Babysense is the absence of a video monitor. Since the two units are currently being sold at the same price point, this means I tend to favour the Babysense over the Philips Avent model. But if you’re not overly concerned with having constant visual contact with your infant, this is an excellent and affordable baby monitor.

Pros:

  • DECT radio signal extends up to 900 feet
  • Provides lullabies and night lights for bed time
  • Monitors the room temperature to keep your child comfortable

Cons:

  • Does not have a camera

5. Infant Optics DXR-5 Portable Video Baby Monitor

Infant Optics DXR-5 2.4 GHz Digital Video Baby Monitor

Infant Optics serves up a portable baby monitor in a comforting baby blue. Using a 2.4 GHz FHSS wireless connection, the DXR-5 offers quality video streaming at an affordable price.

The features of the Infant Optics DXR-5 are similar to many of the other baby monitors on this list. It has an auto-mute mode than eliminates unpleasant white noise. It streams video at 30 fps, which is quite good for a video monitor. It has automatic infrared night vision and an automatic voice shutoff as well. Because of the wireless connection, the baby monitor works best when placed at least three feet from another wireless device.

At 800 feets, the range of the baby monitor is comparable to the Babysense and Philips Avent monitors, and the video quality is superior to the Babysense. That said, many of the features present in the two previous baby monitors are absent in this model. It works well, but it would be nice if it included a few more features.

Pros:

  • 2.4 GHz wireless extends up to 800 feet
  • Streams video at 30 fps
  • Automatic noise cancellation

Cons:

  • Very poor battery life

4. Summer Infant In View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor

Summer Infant In View Digital Color Video MonitorThe design of the Summer Infant In View Baby Monitor is very similar to that of the Babysense, video monitor. The receiver is quite a bit different, however. Like the Babysense monitor, Summer Infant can also be expanded to include up to five cameras in the system.

Summer Infant In View provides all the essential features you expect from a baby monitor. The camera mount swivels easily, helping you to get a better view of your child for the screening. The receiver screen has a digital view that allows you to take a closer look at your environment for potential hazards. Power-activated LED lights keep you informed of your range and battery status.

One of the biggest differences between this and the Babysense monitor is the range, however. The maximum range of this monitor is 600 feet, which, while agreeable, falls short of the maximum range of other baby monitors. The baby monitor comes with infrared night vision but lacks some of the other features that help set apart fancier baby monitors. That said, Summer Infant can connect with up to three extra cameras, perfect for multiple babies or multiple rooms.

Pros:

  • 2.4 GHz wireless extends up to 600 feet
  • Support for multiple camera monitors
  • Five-inch flat screen receiver features digital zoom

Cons:

  • Does not have two-way talk

3. Wewdigi Baby Monitor Wireless Video with Digital Camera

Wewdigi Baby Monitor Wireless Video with Digital CameraOne of the highest-rated and best-reviewed baby monitors on Amazon, the Wewdigi Wireless Video Baby Monitor is one of the best monitors money can buy.

Unlike some of the baby monitors on this list, Wewdigi brings back two-way talk, a handy feature not always included in baby monitors. The Wendigo provides some other helpful features, such as temperature monitoring, infrared night light and remote lullabies. The Wendigo has a battery life of up to 24 hours on VOX mode.

One of the things I didn’t like about this baby monitor, especially in comparison to some others in a similar price range, is the smaller screen. The Summer Infant In View monitor, for example, had a five-inch screen. By contrast, Wewdigi has just a 2.4-inch screen. Still, it’s a minor complaint of an excellent baby monitoring system.

Pros:

  • Two-way intercom allows you to talk to your baby from another room
  • Support for multiple camera monitors
  • Receiver runs for up to 18 hours on a single charge

Cons:

  • Screen is a little small

2. Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor

Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor

The Infant Optics DXR-8 is a more expensive, higher-end version of the DXR-5 I reviewed earlier. With a superior camera and additional features, it is a much-improved version of the DXR-5 and currently the #1 selling baby monitor on Amazon.com.

One of the major selling points of the DXR-8 is its interchangeable optical lens, which allows you greater control and customization over the angle of your camera feed. You can also control the pan, tilt and zoom of your monitor remotely, letting you adjust your view of your child on the fly. The receiver can run for 6 hours with the screen on or 10 hours on power saver mode, and the receiver has an attractive 3.5-inch screen. Like the DXR-5, you can expand this system to include up to four cameras.

The monitor includes a variety of other features as well, such as sound-activated LED lights, two-way talk, temperature monitoring and audio-only mode. You can also choose to turn off the automatic beeps for moving out of range or running low on battery if you wish. The DXR-8 uses a universal USB port for easy charging wherever you are.

Pros:

  • 2.4 GHz wireless extends up to 800 feet
  • Support for multiple camera monitors
  • Monitors the room temperature to keep your child comfortable

Cons:

  • Occasional problems with reception and power connection

Summer Infant Baby Touch PanScanZoom Video BabyWe end this list with a final entry from Summer Infant, the Baby Touch Video Baby Monitor. It has all the features you expect in a quality baby monitor, and although its price point seems a little high for what you get, it’s a quality baby monitor.

All the features you need and want are right here. Two-way talk, sound-activated LED lights, automatic infrared night vision, 2.4 GHz wireless connection 400-foot signal range. Like many other baby monitor systems, you can connect up to four different cameras, and the camera has advanced panning and zooming features, making it one of the best baby monitor cameras in the market.

Although it lacks some features that other baby monitors lack and suffers from a shorter range, the larger 3.5-inch screen and advanced camera make this easily one of the best baby monitors on the market.

Top 10 Best Home Theater Projector Reviews

I think everyone has dreamed about having a movie theater at home at some point in their life. Bigger television sets are one thing, but even the nicest plasma screen doesn’t quite capture the experience of going to the movies.

But in the last few years, home theaters are becoming more and more of a reality. And they’re not just limited to celebrities and movie stars anymore.

In fact, you can buy a home theater system for less than $500, and there are plenty of options that are cheaper than the latest television set.

Isn’t that exciting?

Buying a $500 projector is not going to give you the same quality as a $5000 projector, of course. We all have different preferences and requirements for our entertainment technology. Some people just want a simple projector to display outdoor movies. Others want something that will project their next-gen video games in all their high-definition glory. There is a home theater projector for every budget.

But what if you don’t know what to look for in a projector?

Have no fear! Not only will this guide tell you what to look for in your technology, but it will also point you towards some of the best home theater projectors on the market. Read on for more information!

Things to Look For

I’m going to give you a tip.

No matter your budget or your needs, there are certain things you’re going to need to keep in mind when picking out a projector. Are you going to use the projector indoors or outdoors? Do you need a projector that displays clearly with the lights on? Will you use the projector for business or pleasure?

And most importantly:

Do you want to spend two hours trying to figure out how to get the confounded thing to work?

We’ve all rushed into an expensive purchase, assuring ourselves the installation will be a cinch, or the electronic is going to work like a charm.

Don’t be that guy. Doing your research before committing to a purchase of hundreds or thousands of dollars will save you a lot of headache, protect your pocket book and prevent the inevitable nervous breakdown when, six hours later, you still can’t find the ‘on’ button.

Below, I’ve listed five different things you’re going to want to pay attention to when considering your purchase.

1. Resolution

Simply put, resolution means how clear and detailed everything on the screen looks like. The standard resolution for high-definition television is 1080p, or 1920×1080 resolution. This is the same resolution as a 2.1 megapixel camera, and is also known as Full Definition. Most high-end projectors use 1080p, but it’s important to consider what you want to use the projector for.

2. Brightness

Most people these days know about resolution. But do you know how what unit we use to measure brightness? Light is measured in lumens, which is admittedly difficult to quantify. The right brightness of your projector will depend on how you plan to use it. Indoor use in a dark room won’t require nearly as many lumens as using your projector outdoors or during the day.

3. Compatibility

Most projectors will be compatible with DVD and Blu-Ray technology, but some are not compatible with PlayStation, Xbox or other gaming consoles. If you plan on projecting from your console, make sure you pay attention to the projector’s specifications.

4. Ease of Use

All right, you got me: this category is a bit esoteric, because being easy to figure out is subjective. However, some projectors do come with a remote controller for easy access, so that is definitely one thing to keep in mind.

5. Other Accessories

While most projectors come with built-in speakers, they are a long way from surround sound. For a true home theater experience, you’re going to want to invest in an independent stereo system. I’m not writing about speaker systems, but it is a good thing to keep in mind when budgeting your purchase.

Their trademark technology allows for three times more color than their competitors, truly bringing your movie to life. In addition, four different color settings allows you to richly experience a variety of media, including video games that often have dramatically different color settings than movies.

Part of the appeal of going to the movies is the massive screen that carries the action. The 730HD helps to recreate that appeal by projecting up to 300 inches (25 feet) long! That is roughly the same size as a smaller movie screen at the local cinema, providing you with a truly authentic home movie experience.

Pros:

  • Resolution of 1280 x 720
  • Up to 3000 lumens
  • Projects image up to 300 inches long

Cons:

  • Very limited throw distance

8. Epson Home Cinema 2040

Epson Cinema 2040

The Epson Home Cinema 2040 is a great choice for anyone on a budget. This is the first home theater projector on this list to make the jump to 1080p resolution. Like the previous Epson projector, it offers superior color quality by providing, in this case, 2200 lumens of both white and colored light. The 2040 uses a variety of image-enhancing technologies to provide you with clear, crisp images of up to 134 inches.

The 2040 comes with a limited two-year warranty, and the lamp can be set to both standard or eco mode. Setting the lamp to run on economy settings can improve its lifespan by up to 3,500 hours! A large variety of input options round the Epson 2040 out as an excellent budget machine.

Pros:

  • Resolution of 1920×1080
  • Up to 2200 lumens

Optoma HD141X

Not only does the Optoma HD 141X support full HD, but it is also fully compatible with state-of-the-art 3D technology, including 3D support for Blu-Ray and next-gen gaming technology. With 3000 lumens, the projector is more than bright enough to handle any situation or beat out ambient lighting.

Looking at the back of the projector, you will find the necessary ports to hook up to any system you could possibly want, from computers to DVD players to your PlayStation 4. What I really liked about this projector was the remote control.

There are a lot of buttons on it, so you have to read the manual to know what everything does, but the controller lets you change everything from brightness to the aspect ratio, volume and more. Best of all, the projector is about as environmentally friendly as they come, minimizing your environmental footprint.

Pros:

  • Resolution of 1920×1080
  • Up to 3000 lumens
  • Supports 3D technology

Cons:

  • Color is a little lacklustre

4. Sony VPL-HW45ES 1080p 3D SXRD Home Theater/Gaming Projector

Sony VPL-HW45ES 1080p 3D SXRD Home Projector

Despite a name that fails to draw attention to itself, this Sony VPL-HW45ES projector offers all the features you expect at this price. Full definition 1080p, flexible zoom, full 3D compatibility (including 3D glasses), 9 preset calibration features, an extremely quiet fan, free USB updates and a three-year limited warranty are just some of the features of this projector. Advanced technology and the Motionflow feature work together to minimize blurring for constant crystal-clear images.

In addition, this projector ships with a limited three-year warranty on par with the best home theater warranties, and far surpassing most of them. A high-contrast ratio keeps images looking brighter and clearer, and Sony’s dynamic lamp control helps your 3D images to look better than ever.

Because this projector isn’t as bright as some others, it’s not as well-suited for projecting movies outside where you might need a greater throw distance or where there is a lot of ambient light. But to create a true home movie experience, the Sony VPL-HW45ES is as good as it gets.

  • Resolution of 1920×1080

2. Sony VPL-HW65ES

Sony VPL-HW65ES

The next step up from the Sony 45ES, the VPL-HW65ES improves upon the cheaper model with some added new features. In addition to 1080p full HD resolution, 1800 lumen brightness, and state-of-the-art 3D technology, the VPL-HW65ES adds 120,000:1 dynamic contrast that greatly enhances the fidelity of the image. In addition, SXRD technology combines with

In addition, SXRD technology combines with patented Reality Creation super resolution to bring out incredible details in every face and environment, helping every detail to leap off the screen. Another innovation is the inclusion of home automation technology, giving you greater control over your technology than ever before.

Like the HW45ES, the bulb in this projector is rated for 6000 hours, ships with a three-year warranty on parts, and includes 3D glasses to enhance your viewing experience. That said, this model is roughly twice the cost of the VPL-HW45ES. While you’re sure to be thrilled with the quality of the projector, your bank account may not be. I recommend thinking long and hard about whether the extra features are worth $2000 over the Sony 45ES.

Pros:

  • Resolution of 1920×1080
  • Projector rated for 6000 hours of life
  • Backed by 3-year warranty

1. Sony VPL-VW350ES

Sony VPL-HW65ESSony-VW350ES

4K technology (4096×2160) is brand new. Top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art, what have you. Unfortunately, as with all new technologies, this comes at a very high price. On the one hand, at the time of my writing this, the Sony VPL-VW350ES is just under $10,000. On the other hand, this is the most affordable 4K home theater/gaming projector on the market.

Now that we have that out of the way, I just want to say….wow. If you have never seen a movie in native 4K resolution before, your mind will be blown. The video quality is astounding, and the features are so advanced I can barely believe them.

Th projector works best with a 150” screen (120” if you’re using 3D), so it’s not as big as some of the other projectors, but the quality is outstanding. There are several different proprietary Sony advancements in place that help to streamline the quality of the picture or video game.

Motionflow technology; Dark Frame Insertion; Super Resolution upscaling; a 2D-3D upconversion algorithm; ‘Mastered’ in 4K: these are just some of the advanced technologies that will transform your gaming and movie-going experience. Experience traditional 2D movies in 3D for the first time; explore open-world video game environments with more detail than you thought possible; engross yourself in rich and colorful worlds.

This is a very advanced projector, definitely the best 4K projector you’ll get for the money. But if you haven’t invested in next-gen consoles or the latest technology, you’ll probably want to take a cheaper route for your home theater experience.

Pros:

  • Resolution of 4096×2160
  • Advanced image-enhancing solutions
  • Supports 3D technology

Cons:

  • None

Conclusion

There is no right or wrong choice here. Home theater projectors can vary in cost from a couple hundred bucks to almost $30,000. Obviously, most of us pick something somewhere in the middle. Be honest with yourself about what you need.

I thought the Sony VPL-HW45ES is a fantastic model, and the advanced technology really helped to bring new life to movies. Whichever option you choose, I have little doubt you will find the perfect home theater system, and I hope this list has guided you in your decisions!

Top 10 Best Water Speaker Reviews

I went to Radio Shack a few months ago in search of a new pair of speakers, and the cashier tried to sell me on a pair of water speakers. I was intrigued but ultimately went with a standard pair of speakers.

Still, I was intrigued, so I had to learn more. Apparently, these lamps have a bade of water and jets that shoot them up while the music is playing. They are often outfitted with LED lights that dance around the water while your music is playing. The effect creates the illusion that the water is dancing.

Regarding speaker quality, water speakers are not as good as standard speakers. This is because their hardware is smaller, and so the sound chambers don’t have as much room to echo. If you’re a serious audiophile, it’s unlikely you’ll be satisfied with the audio quality of water speakers.

When it comes to atmosphere, however, water speakers are amazing. They’re especially well suited for parties, especially if you turn down the lights and let the water speak for itself. If you’re looking to set an exciting mood, dancing water is sure to get people excited.

Water speakers are also great for children and adolescents. Much like lava lamps in the 90s, water speakers give a kid something to look at. This helps make listening to music a more active experience.

Whatever your reasons for buying a water speaker, you want to make sure that what you’re buying is worth your hard-earned money. That’s where we come in. We’ve reviewed the best water speakers on the market and compiled the list here for you.

Things to Consider

Like any speaker system, good sound quality is of the utmost importance. But there are several distinct differences between standard speakers and dancing water speakers. It always helps to have reasonable expectations, so here are some things you need to be aware of and consider before making your purchase.

1. Sound Quality

No matter what you do, you should never choose to sacrifice audio quality simply for a light show. Don’t settle for subpar sound if you don’t have to. Everyone has different standards when it comes to speaker quality, so there aren’t any right or wrong answers here. But if you don’t like the way your music sounds, a cool light show isn’t going to make it better.

2. Color

Not all dancing water speakers use the same kinds of dyes. Try to find a colour or mix of colours that seems especially exciting to you. Some water speakers are far more vivid than others. Some models look better in the dark, while others look perfectly fine during the day.

3. Size

While speaker quality may play a part in the size of a water speaker, the difference in size may simply be because of a larger chassis for the water show. And that’s not a bad thing. After all, the larger the water container, the better you’ll be able to watch the action.

4. Style

Part of the fun of buying water speakers is the exciting visual aesthetics, which usually bears little resemblance to standard audio speakers. So go ahead and buy that funky shape. It’ll make a great conversation piece.

5. Price

Generally speaking, water speakers aren’t all that expensive, but they can vary in price by $20-$40 dollars. Is this something you or your child will use on a regular basis? Are you buying it for a party, or is this something you’re going to get bored of quickly? Try to answer these questions before you drop $50 on a water speaker you don’t like.

10. Black Dancing Water Fountain Light Show Sound Speaker

Black Dancing Water Fountain Light Sound SpeakerThese Black Dancing Water Fountain Light Show are neither the best-sounding nor the most colourful water speakers. Sometimes less is more, however, and what these lack in showmanship, they make up for in prettiness.

That’s right. These speakers are pretty. They’re relaxing. There are four coloured lights – pink, violet, green and yellow – and they are set against a clear water background. The effect of the lights with the jets, however, is very charming, and what the show speakers lack in showmanship, they make up for in simplicity.

The sound quality is pretty good too. It would be more accurate to say that the volume is good. The sound quality is comparable to a laptop speaker, but the volume is much better. The real problem with these speakers is that there isn’t very much water in it. As a result, the dancing jet effects are a lot more subdued than they should be.

Pros:

  • Simple, unobtrusive light show
  • Good, loud sound with deep bass
  • Looks great even in the daytime

Cons:

  • More water would improve the dancing jets

9. Aolyty Colorful LED Dancing Water Fountain Light Show Sound, Speaker

Aolyty Colorful LED Dancing Water Fountain Light Show Sound SpeakerThis set of dancing water speakers is a lot like the previous one. With the light off, the Aolyty LED Dancing Water Fountain Speakers to seem to have the same four colours as the Black Dancing water speakers, but in normal light, it’s very difficult to pick out the individual colours.

Overall, this seems to be a very similarly made set of speakers. The speakers are pretty loud, although the sound quality is still subpar. The biggest difference is in the lights. While they look very pretty and exciting with the lights out, they’re just not bright enough to make an impression under normal conditions.

They also suffer from the same problem as the last set: not enough water. With just a little bit more water, the jets and LED lights would put on a much better show.

Pros:

  • Simple, unobtrusive light show
  • Good, loud sound with deep bass
  • Looks amazing with the lights off

Cons:

  • More water would improve the dancing jets

8. e-joy 22771 Dancing Water Speaker

e joy Dancing Water SpeakerThe e-joy 22771 Dancing Water Speakers are available in seven different colours, but as near as I can tell, the only difference there is a different coloured base. The water jet area is the same in all of them, and they all have the same four colours of LED lights.

Like the other water speakers above, this speaker set uses four different jets of water, and the visual effects start as the LED lights play off the water as it shoots and jets inside the container. The speakers themselves are 5W speakers, and they are compatible with both iPod and PC.

There isn’t a huge difference between these speakers and the two that came before. They all produce a similar light show, and they all suffer from the somewhat poor quality sound.

Pros:

  • Simple, unobtrusive light show
  • Available in seven different coloured bases
  • Looks amazing with the lights off

Cons:

  • Sound quality is rather poor

7. ECVISION Plug and Play Multi-Colored Illuminated Fountain Water Speakers

ECVISION Plug and Play Multi-Colored Illuminated Fountain Water SpeakersThe fourth dancing water lamp is the first on this list to one that is significantly different from the others. Ironically, the thing that separates the ECVISION Illuminated Fountain Water Speakers from the previous speakers is the fact that it doesn’t use water at all.

These speakers use vegetable oil in place of water, and there’s a good reason for it. Water is a semi-conductor, and if it leaks can react poorly to electricity. Plant oils are an insulator and are thus less likely to react negatively to the electronics.

In other respects, this “water” lamp is just like the others. The use of oil does change the way the jets shoot, which affects the light show, but the colour of the LED lights are the same, as is the quality of the speakers. The speakers are powered by USB and connect to your iPhone or computer through an audio jack.

Pros:

  • Simple, unobtrusive light show
  • Uses oil instead of water for less risk of damage
  • Looks amazing with the lights off

Cons:

  • Sound quality is rather poor

6. DIY YOUR WORLD Water Speakers White USB Powered Dancing Music Box Speaker

DIY YOUR WORLD Water Speakers White USB Powered Dancing Box SpeakerAlthough the picture on Amazon only shows a single speaker, this purchase does come with a set of two speakers. These DIY, Your World water speakers, don’t bring anything new to the table. They don’t even look appreciably different from the last four sets of speakers I reviewed.

These speakers stand nine inches tall, are filled with water and have four LED lights that dance among the water as it jets. The speaker sound is perfectly fine for the price, and the 3.5 mm jack connects to your PC, mp3 player or other electronic device.

Sadly, I don’t have much else to say about it. Nor can I really, honestly recommend any one of these speakers over another. They all look similar, are a similar size and provide similar sound quality. Without knowing which speaker I was testing, I’m not even sure I could tell which was which. So if you’re looking for a cheap, inexpensive pair of water speakers, these are as good as anything else.

Pros:

  • Simple, unobtrusive light show
  • Water jets work better when the music is loud
  • Looks amazing with the lights off

Cons:

  • Parents may dislike constant loud music

5. Bass Jaxx Dancing Water Speaker

Bass Jaxx Dancing Water SpeakerIf you’re looking for something completely different, this is it. Most water speakers feature an array of jets lit up by LED lights. These water speakers by Bass Jaxx feature floating jellyfish.

Yes, you read that right! Inside an acrylic container filled with water are several gooey plastic jellyfish. The speakers do light up, but instead of an array of lights, it’s a single light that changes colour every couple of seconds. Unlike other water speakers, you have to add the water to these speakers yourself, which isn’t a problem.

My main complaint with these speakers is that these speakers do not come as a pair. With the right connections, you might be able to set this up to work in conjunction with another speaker. But as it is, channelling stereo sound into a single speaker doesn’t provide the best sound. Still, these are very cool, fun speakers your kids are sure to love.

Pros:

  • Stylish design creates a better visual
  • LED lights change colours every few seconds
  • Floating jellyfish are fun to watch

Cons:

  • Only includes one speaker

4. SoundSOUL Dancing Water Speakers LED Speakers

Soundsoul Music Fountain Mini Amplifier 4th Generation Speakers

Finally, we have something different. There’s a little bit of a price jump from the last sets of a speaker to this one, and even visually it pays off. These dancing water speakers from SoundSOUL are sleeker and sexier than their less expensive cousins.

Like the water speakers from ECVISION, these speakers use vegetable oil in place of water because there is less risk of a fire hazard. These water speakers six coloured LED lights instead of four, and the design of the speakers themselves is more round and fluid. This creates a more visually appealing display.

Ultimately, the biggest problem with these speakers is still the sound. Each of these speakers is three watts, which isn’t enough to produce full, rich tones. So when the speakers get loud, the sound quality goes down. Overall, this is an improvement over less expensive speakers, but I still wish the sound quality was better.

Pros:

  • Stylish design creates a better visual
  • Features six coloured LED lights
  • Two 3W speakers

Cons:

  • Sound quality could be better

3. SoundSOUL Bluetooth Dancing Water Speakers LED Speakers

SoundSOUL Bluetooth Dancing Water Speakers LED SpeakersAlthough these particular SoundSOUL water speakers look just like the cheaper models, these are a more modern, streamlined approach. The buttons are placed on the front of the speakers instead of the sides, making it easier to control the volume.

The other big difference between these speakers and their less expensive cousins is their Bluetooth connectivity. Instead of having to plug in these speakers to your computer or mp3 player, you can play your tunes through your wireless connection. This means you can place your speakers somewhere for maximum effect, making these a perfect set of speakers to use for entertaining house guests.

While the speakers are a step up from cheaper SoundSoul models, they still haven’t improved on the overall quality of the sounds. The speakers are still just three watts each. It would be nice if the speakers were a little better, considering the price.

Pros:

  • Stylish design creates a better visual
  • Wireless Bluetooth connectivity
  • Two 3W speakers

Cons:

  • Sound quality could be better

2. NAXA Electronics NHS-2009 Dancing Water Light Tower Speaker System

NAXA Electronics NHS Dancing Water Light Tower Speaker SystemThe NAXA Electronics NHS-2009 water tower speaker is somehow both a step in the right direction and the wrong one. It’s larger and has a better sound than cheaper speakers, but there’s only one, so there’s no stereo sound.

The other baffling thing about these speakers is the marketing. They are described as a floor-standing speaker, but it’s less than two feet tall, which isn’t large enough to stand on the floor. It is perfect for a computer desk, but even so, it looks somehow out of place without a companion.

What’s good about these speakers is its Bluetooth connection. While the speakers come with a 3.5mm audio jack, you can also connect to the speaker straight from your phone. If you could combine this speaker with another one and control them via Bluetooth simultaneously, that would make up for some of its shortcomings, but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Pros:

  • Stylish design creates a better visual
  • Wireless Bluetooth connectivity
  • Speaker is larger and louder

Cons:

  • Only includes one speaker

1. Sylvania SP349 Light & Water Display Bluetooth Tower Speaker

Sylvania SP Light Water Display Bluetooth Tower SpeakerThe Sylvania SP349 is closer to what I was expecting when I tried the NAXA NHS-2009. Unlike that speaker, this one stands about 3 ½ feet tall and can properly be called a floor speaker.

Like the last two speakers on this list, this speaker also connects directly to Bluetooth for easy listening. Because of its larger than other water speakers, it also produces better sound, making it better suited for parties and get-togethers. There are six colour-changing LED lights that dance to the beat of the music.

Again, the biggest problem with these speakers is that there’s only one of them, so you’re forced to listen to everything in mono sound. If they charged more and sold these speakers as a pair, this would be a much better purchase.

Pros:

  • Stylish design creates a better visual
  • Wireless Bluetooth connectivity
  • Speaker is larger and louder

Cons:

  • Only includes one speaker

Conclusion

Not everyone is a fan of water speakers, but if you or your kids are, they make an excellent gift. If you’ve been trying to find the right water speaker for you or your loved ones, you’ve come to the right place. Thanks for reading, and have fun!

Top 10 Best Turntable Reviews

Listening to music on vinyl was a way of life for millions of people. But it wasn’t always that way.

Although vinyl records were among the first mediums of recorded music, they weren’t always the most popular. During the turn of the century up until the start of the Great Depression, vinyl records competed with phonograph cylinders for popularity. Although the sound quality of flat records wasn’t any greater than that of phonograph cylinders, the records themselves were cheaper, and vinyl became the dominant medium until cassette tapes and CDs grew in popularity in the 1980s.

Vinyl lost out to cassette tapes and CDs because record players were bulky and expensive. Cassettes were small and portable. You could outfit your car with a tape deck or carry a Walkman, and your soundtrack would travel with you. What was novel in the 1980s became a way of life, and now phones, iPods and mp3 players make it so that anyone can listen to any music, anytime.

But turntables are mounting a comeback.

Thanks to a reassurance of vinyl, which is now considered cool again, there has been an increase in the number and variety of turntables for sale. More than any other medium, listening to a record on vinyl is an experience. Thanks to modern technology, you can enjoy 33 ½ RPM records old and new with modern sound equipment that sounds better than ever before.

Things to Consider

As it was in days gone by, there are a lot of different brands and models of a turntable on the market. Everyone has

1. Upgradability

One of the things that set a turntable apart from other music players is its ability to be customized to your preference. Some people just want a turntable to use out of the box, and others want to be able to fully control their experience. The parts of a turntable that can be customized include the platter, the tone arm and the needle.

2. Rotational speed

The speed of a record is measured in revolutions per minute (RPM) and most vinyl play at one of two speeds. Singles, or seven-inch records, play at 45 RPM, while the 12-inch records commonly known as LPs play at 33 RPM. Every turntable can support both sized records. Older, 10-inch records played at 78 RPM, and not every turntable can play this type of record. Production stopped on 78 records by the late 50s, so unless you have copies of those old records, you don’t need a turntable that can play them.

3. Manual or automatic

Turntables can be automatic or manual. This refers to whether the needle that starts the record. Automatic turntables are quicker and easier to use and can be played at the push of a button. If you’re looking for a more traditional, authentic experience, however, you’ll want to buy a manual turntable.

4. Usage

Since there are so many different ways to listen to music today, try to think how often you intend to use a turntable. If vinyl records are your favourite way to listen to music and you use them frequently, then it makes sense to buy a nice turntable. But if you only plan on using it occasionally, you might be better off saving some money.

5. Price

All of the things listed above are factors that contribute to the price of a turntable. Because there are so many ways to listen to music today, turntables are more of a luxury than record players ever used to be. That doesn’t mean you can’t buy a turntable for a reasonable price, but if you have high expectations, be prepared to pay for them.

Top 10 Best 4K UHD TV Reviews

Many people think of HDTVs as being a recent innovation of the late ‘90s and early 2000s. But did you know that the roots of high-definition televisions go back all the way to the 1930s? Let’s take a quick look at how all this developed.

What was considered high-def in the 1930s wouldn’t pass for streaming on a dial-up internet connection today. But by the 1970s, some high-end televisions were capable of projecting at 4:3, 5:3 and even 8:3 resolutions. By contrast, standard definition is a mere 1.78:1.

The real hurdle back then was the limitations of analogue broadcasting. The bandwidth available for analogue broadcasting was minimal, which meant that even if you had a good television, you might not be able to make good use of all that resolution.

Even if you were watching movies at home, there weren’t a lot of advantages to owning an HDTV, because VHS tapes had limited resolution in themselves. LaserDisc technology was available in the 1980s, but it never really took hold. So it wasn’t until DVDs came on the scene in the 1990s that a format was readily available that allowed you to make the most of your high-resolution television.

I don’t need to tell you the rest. We went from 720p to 1080p and now all the way to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 lines). With so many advances happening so quickly, it can be hard to know what’s good and what’s not.

That’s where we come in. We’ve done all the work for you. We spell out five things you need to know before you buy your new TV. We’ve got our recommendation for those of you who just can’t decide. And then we list ten of the best 4K televisions, making it easier for you to do your research.

Development never ends. There are plans to release an 8K television in China and Japan later this year. But if you’re worried about being left behind by 7680 x 4320 resolution, don’t worry. There are no plans to release it in the United States, and they’re estimated to cost at least $9000.

So you can rest assured that your new 4K HDTV will be up to date for years to come.

Things to Consider

To buy the right 4K TV for yourself or your family, there are a few factors you might want to consider. Five of them are listed below.

1. Inputs

All TVs are going to have the requisite audio and video inputs, as well as a variety of other inputs that are more or less important. One of the most critical ones to look for are the HDMI ports. All HDTVs will have at least one, but the more you have, the more individual systems you’ll be able to plug in at the same time. If your TV has enough ports, you could switch from the Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U with a single push of your remote.

2. Dimensions

When I talk about dimensions here, I’m referring to the measurements of the television itself, and not the number of lines on the screen. 4K UHD TVs can range from as little as 40 inches all the way to 75 inches or more.

3. Refresh rate

Traditional TVs have a refresh rate of 60 times each second, or 60Hz; some have even less. 4K UHD TVs refresh at much higher rates, usually close to 120Hz or even 240Hz. A faster refresh rate minimizes the blur, which leads to crisper, clearer video during frenetic actions scenes. Try not to settle for a refresh rate less than 120Hz.

4. Smart TV

A lot of new 4K televisions are what are called smart TVs. A smart TV is one that has wireless internet capabilities built-in, making it easy to connect with Roku, Netflix or a variety of other streaming technologies and services, including television on demand. If this is something you want, bear in mind that some 4K TVs may not utilize smart technology.

5. Price

When 4K UHD TV’s first came out, they were super expensive and pretty unaffordable for most. However, as more and more companies have brought out their 4K UHD TV’s the prices have fallen dramatically, and there is more variety regarding screen sizes which means that it is now possible to find 4K UHD TVs for less than $1000. Make sure to consider what you need from your TV because not all 4K UHD TV’s have the processing electronics that you will need for all the inputs and such like that you will need.

If you don’t have a ton of money to spend, the TCL 49S405 is your best friend. It may not be up to the standards of a Samsung or LG Electronics television, but it’ll blow your old 1080p right out of the park.

The TCL 49S405 doesn’t have a lot of features, but it has all of the basic functions you need. The most Like most 4K televisions on the market, the 49S405 utilizes smart technology. 9. Samsung Electronics UN40MU6300 40-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

Samsung Electronics Inch Ultra HD Smart LED TVYou can’t judge a television’s price on its size alone. The Samsung Electronics UNMU6300 makes that very evident. At 40 inches, this TV is almost ten inches smaller than the TCL 49S405; it also comes from a brand that is known and trusted the world over.

Like the previous TV, the Samsung 40MU6300 has a refresh rate of 120 hertz. It does have a couple of advantages, however. The first is its OneRemote feature, which automatically detects and connects all of your wireless devices without manual programming. The other, more impressive difference is the colour. The colours on the TCL are sometimes dull. However, this Samsung TV uses the Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio, a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. This ensures phenomenal contrast between your light and dark colours.

Aside from those two features, there isn’t much to say about this television. It is one of Samsung’s least expensive 4K TVs, so it doesn’t have a lot of the advanced features nicer TVs have. When you consider how inexpensive this TV is, however, it’s easy to forgive it.

Pros:

  • 40 inch TV screen
  • Three HDMI ports
  • Contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1

Cons:

  • Bare-bones TV with minimal extra features

8. Sceptre U550CV-UMR 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD MEMC 120 LED UTV

Sceptre Ultra HD MEMC LED UTVIt’s always good to have choices. If you’re looking for an inexpensive 4K television and you’re not sure what to buy, the Sceptre U550CV-UMR is just what you need to further your indecision. While this certainly isn’t a high-end television, it does have one thing going for it – size.

At 55 inches, the U550CV-UMR is six inches wider than the TCL 49S405 and over 33% larger than the Samsung 40MU6300. Like the previous two televisions, this TV has a refresh rate of 120 hertz and both standard and 2.0 HDMI ports. In fact, it has four separate HDMI ports, which is more than a lot of more expensive TVs have.

There is one huge difference between this TV and the previous two entries, however: this isn’t a smart TV. I’m not bothered by this personally, but I suspect most people want the latest technology standards to accompany their move into the world of 4K. This TV looks great, but its lack of smart technology could be a deal breaker.

Pros:

  • 55 inch TV screen
  • Four HDMI ports
  • Refresh rate of 120 Hz

Cons:

7. Samsung Electronics UN49MU6500 Curved 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

Samsung Electronics Ultra HD Smart LED TVNo one could confuse the Samsung UN49MU6500 with a different model of Samsung TV, and for one very simple reason: the screen is curved. Thanks to its curved design, this television is perfect for immersing yourself in action, putting a slightly different perspective on all your favourite movies.

The curved screen is the only thing that separates the UN40MU6300 from other, similarly priced Samsung TVs. The UN49MU6500 is ready to connect to your router straight out of the box. One remote connects with all your electronic devices automatically, and you don’t have to lift a finger. And the breathtaking colours of the TV’s 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio looks especially good on a curved screen.

Like other Samsung models, this TV has several HDMI, USB and audio ports, allowing you to connect video from multiple sources and hook up your audio to a home theatre system. Like other Samsung models, it broadcasts at a rate of 120 Hz. The main standout of this television is its curved screen, which feels just a little bit more immediate than a standard flat-screen TV.

Pros:

  • 40 inch TV screen
  • Curved screen invites you into the action
  • Contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1

6. TCL 55P607 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV

TCL Inch Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TVThe TCL 55P607 55-inch LED TV is a major step up from the more budget-friendly TCL 49S405. Unlike some 4K televisions, TCL didn’t just make a bigger television and increase the price. They added some extra features that help to make this a much more capable TV.

This 55-inch television has a lot of things going for it, such as High Dynamic Range (HDR). Dynamic Range is basically how much light and dark the television screen can show at the same time, which leads to bolder, more exciting colours. This HDR is complimented with LED backlighting that offers 72 dimming zones for even richer contrasts. Like the TCL 49S405, the TV comes with Roku automatically, granting you instant access to over 4000 channels.

The 55P607 runs at 120 Hz, which limits motion blur, and has three HDMI 2.0 ports, one USB port, RF, Composite, Headphone Jack, Optical Audio Out and Ethernet connections. The XBR55X900E is a smart television, and as such it even has an on-board processor to help it process the information it receives and translate it into 4K resolution. 3. Samsung Electronics UN75MU8000 75-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

Samsung Electronics UNMU Ultra HD Smart LED TVsThe price difference between the Samsung Electronics UN75MU8000 and the LG Electronics OLED55B7A is pretty significant. But then, so are the capabilities. The UN75MU8000 is a major step above the cheaper LG in a variety of ways and is well worth the premium price tag.

The colour quality on this TV is out of this world. This 75-inch TV has over one billion more shades than your standard UHD TV. It also utilizes Ultra Dynamic Contrast Ratio, which offers a staggering contrast of 1,000,000,000:1, a ratio unmatched by any television on the market. The TV also offers an unprecedented refresh rate of 240 Hz, eliminating virtually all traces of motion blur. Other features of this television include built-in WiFi, four HDMI ports and a universal remote.

There is no way to describe this television in any other term than amazing. If it has any downside at all, it’s that at 87 pounds, it does weigh a fair amount – although far less than TVs used to weigh. Nevertheless, make sure you have help setting this TV up. LG Electronics OLEDCP Ultra HD Smart OLED TVThe LG Electronics OLED65C7P 4K Smart TV is currently the #1 best-selling organic light-emitting diode (OLED) 4K television on Amazon. One look at the specifications and you know why. Although it isn’t quite as large as the Samsung UN75MU8000, it has a lot to offer.

In addition to its use of High Dynamic Ratio, the OLED65C7P uses individually lit OLED pixels to provide richer, a deeper contrast to standard LED screens, and without the use of backlighting. This reduces the glare, improves the contrast and makes the TV thinner, which also means its lighter and uses fewer resources to make.

The TV is powered by webOS 3.5 Smart TV and comes with a Dolby Access Smart App that allows you to manage your smart TV and your programming content. It comes with 40W speakers, including a 20W woofer, and weighs just 54 pounds.

Pros:

  • 65 inch TV screen
  • OLED screen doesn’t require backlight
  • Supports 1,000,000,000 colors

Cons:

  • None
