Top 10 Best Elliptical Machine Reviews

You don’t need me to tell you how important it is to exercise.

You also know how difficult it can be to get proper exercise.

There are a lot of things that stand in the way of getting the exercise you need. Some people work long hours and don’t want to spend their free time in a crowded, noisy gym. Others have children and don’t have the luxury of a gym membership.

In many places, extreme weather can keep people indoors and not exercising too. For example, the continental United States and Canada experience long, cold, snowy winters. Between December and February, Chicago gets 29 inches of snow, and low temperatures are often well below freezing.

With all these obstacles in the way, it’s no wonder so many people choose to buy exercise equipment at home.

One of the most popular pieces of exercise equipment is the elliptical trainer. Ellipticals can be used for walking and jogging and can even be set at an incline to simulate hiking. Ellipticals place less strain on the joints than jogging does, making it highly desirable for anyone with joint problems.

No matter your reason for buying an elliptical, it’s important to buy one that is going to meet your needs without pushing your budget. My goal is to provide you with the information you need to make that purchase and give you some of the best products to choose from.

Things to Consider

Buying an elliptical machine is a major purchase and not one to take lightly. There are some considerations you need to make before you make the purchase. If you keep these points in mind, you should be prepared to make your big purchase.

5. Price

Like all exercise equipment, a price is a major area of concern. More expensive ellipticals will offer better performance, but also represent a more serious investment. Try to weigh your exercise needs against what you can realistically afford.

4. Warranty

Most ellipticals sold will be covered by a warranty, which might range from one to five years, with shorter warranties on parts. Some budget models may not offer warranties, but if you’re going to spend $500 or more on an elliptical, make sure it’s covered.

3. Stride

Ellipticals can vary greatly regarding stride. Smaller or cheaper ellipticals have smaller strides, which are only appropriate for smaller people. If you expect people of different sizes to use the elliptical, make sure you buy one with a larger stride.

2. Incline

Some elliptical machines have a fixed incline, whereas others allow you to adjust them. An adjustable incline is not necessary, but if you want to use an elliptical to prepare you for hiking, then you’ll want one that can adjust.

1. Resistance

Resistance is how hard the elliptical will fight you when you walk. You don’t necessarily want a lot of resistance in your elliptical, but some people like to be able to adjust the resistance for a more intense workout.

10. Exerpeutic 1000Xl Heavy Duty Magnetic Ellipticals

Exerpeutic Heavy Duty Magnetic Ellipticals

Just because you have a limited budget, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the benefits of using an elliptical. Sure, you may not get gym-quality results, but you can save a lot of money over a traditional gym membership.

That said, a lot of cheap ellipticals aren’t worth what you pay for them. So, I was pleasantly surprised with the Exerpeutic 1000Xl Heavy Duty Magnetic Elliptical. The elliptical is pretty smooth, without the annoying bounce that often plagues lesser models. It has eight levels of magnetic tension alignment, helping you to tailor your workout experience. The flywheel is designed for quiet operation so that you won’t get a lot of noise pollution.

In addition to the standard handlebars that move with your feet as you exercise, there are also two stationary handlebars that are used to read your pulse, providing you information on your cardio output. This information is delivered on an LCD screen that also reports distance, calories burned and other metrics.

The elliptical is far from perfect. The computer doesn’t count calories very well, it isn’t nearly as durable as more expensive models, and putting it together is a serious chore. Although it has a weight limit of 300 pounds, the stride is only 13 inches, which isn’t going to work well for taller people. But it does offer reasonable performance for the price and is backed by a three-year limited warranty.

Pros:

  • Offers eight levels of tension resistance
  • Target zone handles monitor your heart rate
  • Measures 54 inches x 23 inches x 63 inches

Cons:

  • Limited stride

9. Body Champ BRM3671 Elliptical Dual Trainer

Body Champ BRM Elliptical Dual Trainer

The Body Champ BRM3671 Elliptical Dual Trainer elects itself to be a 2-in-1 elliptical and stationary exercise bike. It probably would have been better for Body Champ to focus on doing one thing right, but the BRM3671 still offers pretty decent performance.

Body Champ worked hard to make the transitions from elliptical to training bike as seamless as possible. The seat can be adjusted in two ways to accommodate this transition, and the LCD computer console comes with 12 different pre-programmed workout programs, with the ability to program your own as well. It has two sets of handlebars and a cushion seat much like a typical bicycle. It also comes with a workout DVD.

The main problem with the FRM3671 is the same as with the 1000X1 – it’s stride. Although the weight limit is 275 pounds, the stride of 14 inches isn’t going to be enough for taller people. Nevertheless, it is backed by a one-year warranty on the frame and 90 days on parts. This isn’t going to be anybody’s first choice, but if you don’t have a huge budget, this isn’t terrible.

Pros:

  • Comes with 12 preset workout programs
  • Switch between an exercise bike and elliptical
  • Measures 38.6 inches x 12.6 inches x 24 inches

Cons:

  • Limited stride

8. Exerpeutic 5000 Magnetic Elliptical Trainer

Best Exerpeutic Magnetic Elliptical TrainerThe Exerpeutic 5000 Magnetic Elliptical Trainer is a lot more advanced and reliable than the Exerpeutic 100X1 above. It improves on the 100X1’s biggest weakness by expanding the stride to 18 inches.

Another notable improvement with the Exerpeutix 5000 is its Mobile App tracking and Bluetooth technology. The elliptical sends your workout data to your phone, enabling you to confer with your trainer or simply review your progress on your commute to work. It also improves upon the 1000X1 by tripling the number of tension resistance settings to 24. Like the Exerpeutic 1000X1, it also has a second pair of handles to monitor your heart rate during workouts.

Oddly enough, the maximum weight limit for the Exerpeutic 5000 is only 270 pounds, which is less than the X1. That said, there are enough improvements in this elliptical for it to be well worth the increase in price, even if its warranty is only good for one year instead of three.

Pros:

  • Offers 24 levels of tension resistance
  • Target zone handles monitor your heart rate
  • Measures 54 inches x 23 inches x 63 inches

Cons:

  • 18-inch stride may be too short for anyone over 6 feet

7. Universal E40 Elliptical

Universal EllipticalThe Universal E40 Elliptical is in some ways better than and inferior to the performance of the Exerpeutic 5000. On the whole, I’d say it averages out, and these two ellipticals are roughly complimentary regarding quality.

One improvement is that the pulse tracking system is streamlined. Instead of being built into a secondary pair of handles, the pulse tracking is integrated into the main handles, so you can monitor your pulse while moving your arms naturally. It also includes seven different workout programs that are designed to push and challenge you to improve yourself.

On the other hand, it only has eight levels of magnetic resistance, so there’s not as much customization as regards the intensity of your workout. Whether that decreases the value of the elliptical depends on your individual preferences. It does offer a better warranty than Exerpeutic, with three years on the frame and one year for electrical and parts. Like the Exerpeutic 5000, it has a stride of 18 inches but can support a weight of up to 350 pounds. Either one of these models is a good value for the price.

Pros:

  • Offers eight levels of tension resistance
  • Comes with seven preset workout programs
  • Measures 36 inches x 30 inches x 16 inches

Cons:

  • 18-inch stride may be too short for anyone over 6 feet

6. ProForm Hybrid Trainer

ProForm Hybrid TrainerLike the other two ellipticals in the same price range as this one, the ProForm Hybrid Trainer has its strengths and its weaknesses. None of these models is definitively better than others in the same price range. I don’t want to recommend any of these three models over the other, as it comes down to what you’re personally looking for in an elliptical machine.

In the case of the ProForm Hybrid Trainer, you’re treated to 16 different levels of resistance and an LCD computer screen that relays valuable feedback back to you. The peddles adjustable, the flywheel responds to inertia, and it has a secondary set of handlebars to monitor your pulse. On the downside, the stride is only 15 inches, which isn’t very good. I’m 5’10, and I had a hard time with the stride, as it was too short for me. If I had to guess, I’d say this would be uncomfortable for anyone under 5’8.

The warranty is a mixed bag. The warranty on the frame is five years, which is the best in this class. However, the 90-day warranty on parts is inferior to the Universal E40 warranty. The maximum weight capacity is 350 pounds. All in all, this is a capable elliptical that suffers from a limited stride.

Pros:

  • Offers 16 levels of tension resistance
  • Target zone handles monitor your heart rate
  • Measures 46.5 inches x 25.8 inches x 18 inches

Cons:

  • Limited stride

5. Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine

Schwinn Elliptical Machine

The latest version of the Schwinn 430 Elliptical Machine was released in 2016 and offers a few improvements over earlier models. The Schwinn 430 is loaded with a variety of luxury features that help make your workout session more enjoyable.

The 430 is in every way superior to the reviewed models that precede it. It has a stride of 20 inches, which is standard for all ellipticals. It has two different LCD screens which provide valuable information regarding your workout, as well as information regarding the exercise program you’re currently running. It offers 20 levels of resistance, which are controlled by the computer rather by magnetics, and has 22 different preset exercise programs.

Luxury features include a USB charging port and speakers to play your music, as well as a three-level fan to keep you cool while you exercise, allowing you to workout out longer without overheating. It also has a ten-inch manual ramp that allows you to adjust the incline, preparing you for hiking or mountain biking or just giving you a more intense workout.

If there’s one thing I don’t like, it’s the warranty. Trying to figure it all out is a nightmare because it has four different components to it. The warranty on the frame is ten years, the warranty on mechanical components is two years. Electrical components have a two-year warranty and labour has a 90-day warranty. This is all way to unnecessarily complicated, but in the end, doesn’t prevent this from being a very good elliptical for the price.

Pros:

  • Offers 20 levels of tension resistance
  • Comes with 22 preset workout programs
  • Measures 51 inches x 34 inches x 22 inches

Cons:

  • Weighs 165 pounds

4. Schwinn 470 Elliptical Machine

Schwinn Elliptical MachineAs the numbers indicate, the Schwinn 470 Elliptical Machine is one step up from the 430 regarding performance and abilities. T difference in price is not substantial, the Schwinn 470 packs more features than the 430.

The differences aren’t major and mostly relate to the levels of resistance and the number of preset training programs. The 470 has 25 levels of resistance and offers 29 different workout settings. In most other ways, it is similar. It has a built-in fan, USB charging station, speakers, several levels of incline, a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds and 20 inches of stride.

Like the 430, it has the same incomprehensibly complicated warranty, and one additional downside: it’s larger and, at 186 pounds, it’s even heavier than the 430. I didn’t mention it in my review of the 430, but these are not machines you’re going to want to move around a lot, and chances are you’re going to need help moving it around at all.

Pros:

  • Offers 25 levels of tension resistance
  • Comes with 29 preset workout programs
  • Measures 70.1 inches x 28.2 inches x 63.2 inches

Cons:

  • Weighs 186 pounds

3. Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer

Horizon Fitness EX Elliptical TrainerAlthough the Horizon Fitness EX-59-02 Elliptical Trainer is more expensive than the Schwinn 670, it lags behind the 670 performance-wise in a lot of ways.

For example, it only has ten variable levels of resistance, instead of 25. It also comes with just ten workout programs and doesn’t give you the option to write your own. IT does built-in feature speakers, an LCD screen that feeds you information and mp3-compatible audio jacks, but I can’t help but feel that this is a step back. It only has 18 inches of stride, and it doesn’t have the ability to incline.

The main benefits of the EX-59-02 are that it is smaller and weighs less, and the warranty – two years on frame, one year on parts – isn’t quite so cumbersome. If you’re a smaller person, you might enjoy the sturdy construction of the EX-59-02 over the Schwinn 470, but in general, I think the 470 is the superior elliptical.

Pros:

  • Offers ten levels of tension resistance
  • Comes with ten preset workout programs
  • Measures 68 inches x 22 inches x 64.6 inches

Cons:

  • 18-inch stride may be too short for anyone over 6 feet

2. ProForm Cardio HIIT Elliptical Trainer

ProForm Cardio HIIT Elliptical TrainerThe ProForm Cardio HIIT Elliptical Trainer is a completely different elliptical, redesigned and very 21st century. In some ways, it functions more like a stair climber than an elliptical, with a reduced stride of 8 or 12 inches, but thanks to its vertical design, the limited stride isn’t a drawback.

The ProForm Cardo HIIT offers 24 resistance levels, 32 workout apps and is designed to accommodate up to 10 inches of incline. It has a seven-inch LCD screen and iPhone compatibility with built-in speakers. It comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, a three-year warranty on the parts and a one-year warranty on labour. It has a bottle holder and can support a weight of up to 350 pounds.

You can get a good workout with the ProForm but at a premium price. If you’re looking for a true elliptical machine, however, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

Pros:

  • Offers 24 levels of tension resistance
  • Comes with 32 preset workout programs
  • Backed by a lifetime/three-year/one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Not a true elliptical machine

1. Sole Fitness E35 Elliptical Machine

Sole Fitness E Elliptical Machine

Gym quality exercise equipment comes at a premium price, but that’s what you’re getting with the Sole Fitness E35 Elliptical Machine.

The E35 delivers it all. Stride is adjustable from 20 inches to 22 inches, and the ramp can adjust from 0 up to 30 degrees of incline. While it’s limited in the number of programs it has – six standard programs and two custom programs – and the stride isn’t adjustable, it makes up for it with exceptional performance. All the amenities ae included as well, such as a water bottle holder, speakers and LCD screen that feeds you with valuable information.

The warranty is also excellent, with a lifetime warranty on the frame, a five-year warranty on electronics and parts and a two-year warranty for labour. You might be paying a premium on price, but you get a premium product in return.

Pros:

  • Adjustable stride and incline
  • Comes with six preset workout programs
  • Measures 27 inches x 58 inches x 83 inches

Cons:

  • 18-inch stride may be too short for anyone over 6 feet

Conclusion

If you’re looking to get a machine that’s not going to cost you a lot but can deliver a good workout, your best bet is something in the $300-400 price range. If you can afford the very best, the Sole Fitness E35 delivers a phenomenal experience.

For most users, however, I recommend meeting in the middle with the Schwinn 470. You get a great balance of features and performance at a reasonable price. I hope this information helped, and I hope you find a great elliptical for your exercise needs.

Top 10 Best Rowing Machine Reviews

Finding the time to work out can be a challenge. You live a busy life, and trying to fit in regular exercise in with that requires a lot of sacrifice and dedication.

There’s not a lot of stationary exercise equipment that can provide your body with a full workout. This means that a lot of people spend hours at the gym working out with a wide variety of different exercise equipment, from treadmills and ellipticals to lifting weights and doing pull-ups.

If you’re trying to work out at home, it’s even harder. A proper home gym requires a lot of room and a significant investment. That’s why late-night television is peppered with obnoxious ads about new training equipment that purport to be everything you’ve ever wanted.

A rowing machine is an excellent way to achieve that full-body workout you’re looking for. Rowing machines effectively utilize and work muscles in your arms, shoulders, chest, thighs, legs and abdomen, making it truly a tour de force of exercise.

Even more, rowing is an impact-free exercise and can be performed safely no matter your age with minimal risk of injury.

Of course, you’re not going to get the same sort of results on your pecs and abs with a rowing machine as you will with exercises that specifically target those muscles. In the same way, a rowing machine isn’t going to build muscles in your arms at anything approaching weight lifting.

Still, a rowing machine is a great one-off exercise station, and if your agenda is staying fit and healthy, rather than bulking up, a rowing machine is one of the best pieces of exercise equipment you can buy – if you buy the right one, that is.

Things to Consider

As you no doubt imagine, there are a lot of things you need to take into consideration before you consider buying a rowing machine. Rowing machines vary in price from a couple of hundred dollars to a couple of thousand. What kind of action do you want? What kind of resistance?

This list here doesn’t cover every variable you need to weigh, but it will help give you enough information to start making an informed decision.

5. Folding or Fixed

Space is often a price concern where home exercise equipment is concerned, especially for those who can’t set aside an entire room for a home gym. Folding rowing machines are popular because they don’t take up as much space. On the other hand, fixed rowing machines are more durable.

4. Price

Cost is another huge factor to take into consideration. Low-end machines are much more affordable, but you’re not going to get the same results or performance with a cheaper model. You can still experience good results with a less expensive rower, but if you’re expecting the same performance as a rower in the gym, you’re sure to be disappointed.

3. Users

Are you buying a rowing machine just for your personal use, or will others in your household be using it as well? How many times per week do you intend to use the rower? Take these things into consideration when you consider how much you want to spend.

2. Warranty

Buying a rowing machine is not a purchase to be taken lightly, but a major investment. You want to make sure that your investment will pay off. Try to look for one- and two-year minimum warranties, if at all possible.

1. Resistance

There are four different types of a rowing machine, each built with a different resistance. There’s air resistance, water resistance, magnetic resistance and hydraulic resistance. There are various strengths and weaknesses associated with each of these types of resistance.

10. Sunny SF-RW1205 Health and Fitness Rowing Machine

Sunny Health Rowing Machine

If you’re expecting a top-notch rowing machine for less than $100, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. If you keep your expectations reasonable, however, you might be pleasantly surprised by the Sunny SF-RW1205 Health and Fitness Rowing Machine.

The machine lacks the durability and advanced features of more expensive models, but it has a few things to offer. The rower uses hydraulic piston resistance and has 12 adjustable levels, so you have a lot of control over how much resistance you face. An LCD monitor lets you know how long you’ve been working while displaying how many calories you’ve burned.

The frame is made of solid steel, and the cushion is ergonomically designed. There is a maximum weight limit of 220 pounds. It’s also very light. Weighing a mere 23 pounds, this is easy to move around the room. There aren’t a lot of extra features to the model, and it has a few annoying design flaws, but for the price, this is an absolute steal.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 53 inches x 20 inches x 22 inches
  • Weighs just 27 pounds

Cons:

  • Is not covered with a warranty

9. Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine

Stamina Body Trac Rowing Machine

Another basic budget model, the Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine nevertheless offers up some improvements over the previous rower. The most obvious difference is in its design; this is a much more comfortable machine to work on.

Utilizing gas-shock piston resistance, the steel-and-aluminum frame of the Glider 1050 folds down when not in use, making this a convenient rower for those who have limited room at home. The glider 1050 is designed to be as compact as possible without sacrificing the quality of the workout. The rower can support up to 250 pounds and is backed by a one-year warranty on the frame and 90 days on parts.

There are a few minor problems with the rower, small parts that wear out and not enough settings for resistance. Still, this is an affordable model that offers a timely exercise solution for a smaller home.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 50 inches x 12 inches x 10 inches
  • Backed by a one-year/90-day warranty

Cons:

  • Some of the parts are very cheap

8. Stamina 1205 Precision Rower

Stamina Precision Rower

Another rower with hydraulic power resistance, the Stamina 1205 Precision Rower is both more compact and more durable than the Glider 1050. It has a comfortable padded seat and pivoting footplates, so it’s easier to sit while you exercise.

The hydraulic system on the Stamina 1205 is noticeably improved over the last two rowers I reviewed. It has a specially designed ball-bearing rolling system that allows for smoother rowing, improving the fluidity of the movement. Like the last two rowers, it too has an LCD that monitors your time spent, calories burnt and other essential metrics. Adjustable tension controls give you more freedom over your workout and grow with you as you increase in strength.

With a maximum weight of 250 pounds, this machine is suitable for almost anyone. It’s not perfect, of course; the rower weighs 47 pounds and is hard to move; it’s not easy to store, and the profile may not be to everyone’s taste. Still, this is a solid, capable machine at a reasonable price. Especially when you consider it has a five-year warranty on the frame.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 32.5 inches x 27.75 inches x 48 inches
  • Backed by a five-year/90-day warranty

Cons:

  • The pistons are not very durable

7. Stamina ATS Air Rower 1399

Stamina Rower

With the Stamina ATS Air Rower 1399, we reach the first rowing machine on this list that doesn’t use hydraulic resistance. As the name suggests, the Stamina 1399 uses a large motorized fan to power the resistance. Many rowers consider this to be a more realistic emulation of the experience of actual rowing.

The rower is supported with a steel beam frame. It can fold and even comes with detachable wheels for portability, making this an excellent option if you don’t have a lot of room. It also has protectors, so it will stay in place rather than skidding. The monitor displays your speed, theoretical distance covered, time spent and calories burnt.

The rower can support up to 250 pounds and is backed by an impressive three-year warranty on the frame with a 90-day warranty on parts. If you want a high-quality rower for less than $400, this is your best bet.

Pros:

  • Rower uses air resistance for more realistic experience
  • Measures 77 inches x 18 inches x 22 inches
  • Backed by a three-year/90-day warranty

Cons:

  • There’s no way to adjust the resistance

6. HCI Fitness Sprint Outrigger Scull Rowing Machine

HCI Fitness Sprint Outrigger Scull Rowing MachineLike most of the other rowers on this list so far, the HCI Fitness Sprint Outrigger Scull Rowing Machine uses hydraulic pistons to power the rowing activity, with commercial-grade cylinders to ensure a nice long life.

Like the Sunny SF-RW1205, this offers 12 levels of hydraulic resistance, letting you work out at your own pace. The rower is made out of metal, is cushioned with an ergonomic seat and has large footplates for your feet that naturally pivot as you row. The rower folds down into a compact size for easy storage. It has a maximum weight capacity of 275 pounds.

One of the major downsides to this model, however, is its weight. On the one hand, the extra weight helps keep it more stable. But at 55 pounds, its fairly heavy and may be too cumbersome to move for some people, even folded. Although it’s bulky, you can still get a great workout from this rower – but I think the Stamina 1399 is the better value.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 55 inches x 68 inches x 15 inches
  • Includes two different workout programs

Cons:

  • Requires a lot of space to use

5. Kettler Favorit Rowing Machine

Kettler Favorit Rowing MachineAnother hydraulic rowing machine, the Kettler Favorit sets itself apart from other models with its superior construction and sleek, modern design, including a surprisingly comfortable ergonomic seat. It’s made in Germany, so you know you can depend on quality manufacturing.

One of the most notable improvements is an improved LCD training screen that offers more information such as your pulse rate. This can be very helpful, as rowing is most effective at 70-85% of your normal pulse rate. With 50 levels of resistance, you have an awesome amount of control over your workout. The footplates have straps to keep your feet from slipping, and they naturally pivot as you row. The rower is backed by a three-year warranty on the frame and one year on the parts.

Another improvement is in the maximum weight supported. The rower can support up to 285 pounds of weight, so whether you’re building muscle mass or trying to shed some extra pounds, this can accommodate you. This is a pretty good rower all around.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 49 inches x 31 inches x 10 inches
  • Backed by a three-year/one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Adjusting the resistance is too difficult

4. Kettler Kadett Outrigger Rowing Machine

Kettler Kadett Outrigger Style Rower Rowing MachineA second entry from the German company, the Kettler Kadett Outrigger Rowing Machine is similarly powered through hydraulic pistons. Made with carbon steel, the Kadett Outrigger features incredibly durable construction.

The hydraulic pistons used in this rower are industrial strength and seem very durable. Like the Kettler Favorit, it has a comfortable ergonomic cushion and biomechanically accurate footplates. It uses the same LCD as the Favorit. The rower can be folded to make it more compact, although, at 66 pounds, it’s heavy enough that you don’t want to haul it around too often. That said, the frame is protected by a limited lifetime warranty, so if something does break, you’re covered.

However, the Kadett Outrigger seems to be a step back from the Favorit in one significant way. Instead of 50 levels of resistance, there are a mere 12 levels of resistance, which isn’t any better than the Sunny SF-RW1205. This, combined with its heavy weight, prevents me from awarding this a perfect score.

Pros:

  • Rower uses hydraulic resistance
  • Measures 45 inches x 21 inches x 8 inches
  • Backed by a limited lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • 12 levels of resistance is a step down from less expensive models

3. Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower

Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower

Instead of a powered fan or hydraulic pistons, the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower uses a drum magnetic control system, which uses a magnetic pull to break the bars and providing the resistance, with an electronic tension control helping to maintain the tension when you pull.

The beam is made of anodized aluminium and features an ergonomic saddle seat. The rower folds for easy storage, but is quite heavy, weighing 75 pounds. What is notable about this rower is that it comes with a heart monitor that you strap to your chest while working out. This allows you to optimize your cardio training and make the most out of your workouts and exercise. The frame is backed by a five-year warranty, but the computer has a 90-day warranty, and all other parts have a mere 30-day warranty.

I wasn’t super crazy about the design. While it was designed to take up minimal space, it also can be a little awkward when you’re working out. That was my personal experience, but a lot of people are perfectly comfortable with this rower, so it’s not set in stone. Although there are twelve settings for different resistance, I wish it offered a little more resistance. Still, this is great, and the heart monitor lets you get the most out of your workouts.

Pros:

  • Rower uses magnetic resistance
  • Measures 80 inches x 20 inches x 29 inches
  • Comes with a heart monitor for advanced cardio training

Cons:

  • Position may be awkward for some users

2. Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine

Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine

There’s a pretty significant price jump from the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower to the Concept2 Model D Indoor Rowing Machine. There’s also a significant jump in quality. In fact, the Concept2 Model D is quite possibly the best rowing machine on this list.

The Model D uses an air resistance model, and it is very thoroughly designed. A spiral damper gives you perfect control over the flywheel, allowing you to adjust the airflow at ease to suit your preferences. The PM5 (performance monitor) tracks a variety of statistics, including your speed, distance covered, calories burned, etc. You can even transfer your information to your PC or Mac via flash drive. The footrests are adjustable, and the machine can be broken down into two pieces for easier storage.

The Model D is used by Olympic athletes around the world. It is incredibly reliable and comes with a five-year warranty on the body and a two-year warranty on the parts. It has a maximum weight limit of 500 pounds, which is incredible. I had no problems using it, and I have nothing bad to say about it either. This rowing machine is simply excellent.

Pros:

  • Rower uses air resistance for more realistic experience
  • Measures 96 inches x 24 inches x 44.5 inches
  • Backed by a five-year/three-year warranty

Cons:

  • None

Best Rowing Machines Under $1500

1. WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine

WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine

The first thing that stood out to me about the WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine is that it’s beautiful to look at. Crafted with beautiful ash and honey oak, this is the quietest rowing machine I have ever heard.

It is also possibly the most realistic. The handcrafted rower uses a water flywheel that is powered by water hydraulics. This makes it the most accurate emulation of water rowing because you are working out against the resistance of actual water. The Series 4 monitor keeps track of everything from your workout intensity to your heartrate. It is also backed by an excellent five-year warranty on the body and three-year warranty on the parts, so long as you register the rower.

I have only one real complaint with the WaterRower, and that is its weight. At 117 pounds, it is incredibly heavy, which makes storage challenging. Although it is designed for upright storage, you have to be quite strong just to lift it. Aside from its weight, this is an amazing, life-like rowing machine.

Pros:

  • Rower uses water resistance for the most realistic experience
  • Measures 84 inches x 21 inches x 22 inches
  • Backed by a five-year/three-year warranty

Cons:

  • At 117 pounds, it is extremely heavy

Conclusion

There are a lot of options out there and a lot of choices to be weighed. Not everyone is working with the same budget or has a lot of room. If you have the money, however, the Concept2 Model D is easily the finest rowing machine on this list, and one of the best on the market. But don’t worry. There are plenty of effective rowing machines out there for much less that will still deliver a formidable workout. Happy shopping and good luck!

Top 10 Best Massage Chair Reviews

I get stressed out very easily, and when I do, I carry it all over my back and shoulders in uncomfortable and even painful knots. Unfortunately, I don’t always have the time or the money to go to a massage therapist as I should.

If you’re reading this article, there’s a good chance you’re in the same position as me. Of course, stress over work, family or finances aren’t the only things that can cause you grief. Standing all day in a warehouse, exercising in a gym or even sitting all day in an office chair can lead to tight muscles and aching joints. If you’re like most people, you have neither the time nor the money for weekly or even monthly massage sessions.

Fortunately, there is a workaround to this problem – you can buy a massage chair! This allows you to sit back, relax and allow your muscles and joints to be massaged and loosened up in the comfort of your own home. While it won’t replace a professional massage, it is an excellent substitute, and it is far more affordable in the long run. Picking the right massage chair for your budget and needs is not easy, however. This guide will help you to buy the best massage chair you possibly can.

Things to Consider

Replace 4. Be wary of deals with the following subheading:

4. Fabric

There are several reasons why you should consider the fabric of your massage chair closely. First, you want to make sure the massage chair is made with hypoallergenic materials, or else does not use fabrics you might be allergic to. Second, the type of material will determine how easy it is to clean, or whether it will stain if dirty. Finally, some materials may be more comfortable than others.

Things to Consider
As picking push up bars can be tricky because there are so many different types available we wanted to help you. What is more, to ensure that you get the best push up bar on the market you should consider a number of important factors, so check out the following 5 factors that you should consider before buying a push-up bar:

1. Transportability

Push up bars are usually lightweight and easy to store which makes them a great exercise tool to take with you when you are going away, or even to take with you to work. What is more, push up bars have typically been designed to increase convenience and ease of use for you. So, it should be easy to find a pair of push up bars that are excellent for transporting, but this is an important factor to consider if you are hoping to take your push up bars with you anywhere.

2. Weight capacity

The weight capacity of push up bars is an important consideration, especially if you are on the heavier side or hoping to use your push up bars when wearing a weighted vest. This is because you do not want to risk breaking the bars which could result in a loss of money, not to mention the risk of you injuring yourself. Therefore, make sure to consider the weight capacity of the push-up bars that you buy.

3. Comfort

Being comfortable when you exercise is really important because you need to be able to conduct lots of push ups to get those toned and muscular arms that you have always wanted. As a result, making sure to consider factors such as grip padding, is a really important thing to do when you are buying push up bars.

4. Stability

There is nothing worse than feeling wobbly and unstable when conducting a push-up. Therefore, make sure to look out for things that could affect the stability of the push-up bars you buy. Important considerations are base width and weight capacity. It can also be helpful to consider other buyers reviews as they will often tell you a lot about the real world stability of the bars that you buy.

5. Price

The final consideration for you when you are looking to buy push up bars is the price. Of course, a higher price is usually indicative of better quality, but that is not always the case. What is more, there may be cheaper push-up bars that are better suited to you and your needs. As a result, make sure to consider the price when you are buying your push up bars, but do not make it the only factor that you look to.

Top 10 Best Adjustable Dumbbell Reviews

Dumbbells are an excellent way to build muscles in your arms.

They can also be a tremendous waste of money.

The problem with most dumbbells is that they’re only as good as their weight. After a while, as you get used to the weight of the bells and your strength grows, the effectiveness of the dumbbells diminishes.

After a while, they’re not doing anything except getting in the way.

That’s why adjustable dumbbells are the way to go. Although they’re somewhat more expensive than regular dumbbells, they don’t outgrow their usefulness nearly as quickly. In the end, you’ll end up saving money, because instead of going out and buying a new set of dumbbells, you’ll just put more weight on your existing set.

Don’t you wish everything in life was that easy?

Things to Consider

Buying adjustable dumbbells makes sense, but it doesn’t make sense to go out and buy them without thinking things through first. If you want to be a smart shopper, here are a few tips to keep in mind before you swipe your credit card.

1. Weight

Weight is, obviously, the most important thing in a dumbbell, but it factors into the picture in several different ways. You want to consider the minimum weight of the dumbbell, the maximum weight of the dumbbell and the weight of the incremental increases to the dumbbell.

2. Stability

One advantage of standard dumbbells is security. Since they’re often one solid piece, there’s no chance of the dumbbell breaking or getting imbalanced. This is not necessarily true of adjustable dumbbells. The last thing you want is for the weights to slide off and land on your toes.

3. Size

Just how much space does that dumbbell take up, anyway? One of the big reasons to choose adjustable dumbbells over standard dumbbells is the fact that they’re more compact. But if you buy a clunky adjustable dumbbell, you may not be doing yourself any more favours.

4. Ease of Use

Some dumbbells are a real hassle to modify. You want a dumbbell that you can adjust quickly and easily. That way, if you decide to increase the weight mid-workout, you can do it without losing your stride.

5. Price

As I said, adjustable dumbbells are quite a bit more expensive than regular models. Many of them cost $100 or more. Buy what you need, but don’t buy a fancy dumbbell that you can’t afford.

Best Adjustable Dumbbells Under $100

10. CAP Barbell Adjustable Dumbbell Set (40 Pounds)

CAP Barbell Adjustable Dumbbell SetAlthough it’s definitely on the low end of the weight spectrum, the CAP Barbell Adjustable Dumbbell Set is a good adjustable dumbbell set, especially if you’re just getting started or you want more control over how you add weight to your exercises.

The total combined weight of the CAP Barbell weights is 40 pounds. This includes four 6-pound plates and four smaller 2.5-pound plates. Each dumbbell weighs three pounds, adding up to your total of 40 pounds. Two spin-lock collars are included, so the weighted plates don’t go sliding off the handles.

This is a basic, no-fuss, easy-to-use dumbbell system especially helpful for beginners. There’s a good chance you might outgrow these somewhere down the line, but if you’re on a budget, this might be a good place to start.

Pros:

  • Four 6-pound plates
  • Four 2.5-pound plates
  • Spin locks secure weighted plates to the handle

Cons:

  • 40 pounds total maximum weight

9. Unipack Adjustable Dumbbells (105 Pounds)

Unipack Adjustable DumbbellsThere’s a big difference in weight between the Unipack Adjustable Dumbbells and the CAP Barbells listed above. The Unipak costs almost twice as much but delivers nearly three times as much weight. If you’re looking for affordable dumbbells around 100 pounds, this is your best bet.

The set includes sixteen 5-pound plates, four 2.5-pound plates and four 1.25-pound plates. Each dumbbell handle weighs 5 pounds, and there are also two screw-on collars to secure the dumbbells.

The main problem I have with the dumbbells is that they’re a little bulky. The dumbbell is already somewhat larger than your standard dumbbell, and balancing the larger size takes a bit of getting used to. There’s no getting around the fact that these dumbbells are a great value, however.

Pros:

  • Sixteen 5-pound plates
  • Four 2.5-pound plates
  • Four 1.25-pound plates

Cons:

  • Larger handles take some getting used to

8. Ringstar Dumbbells (105 Pounds)

Ringstar DumbbellsThere’s not a lot of difference between the Ringstar dumbbells and the Unipack dumbbells. Both offer 105 pounds of weight, and they even distribute the weight in the same way. The main difference is aesthetics. The Ringstar dumbbells are shinier and a little more attractive.

Like the Unipack, the set includes sixteen 5-pound plates, four 2.5-pound plates four two 1.25-pound plates. The handles weigh 5 pounds and are secured with screw-on collars. The dumbbells are made of cast iron and are treated with a shiny metallic chrome.

The only reason to choose these dumbbells over the Unipak is that you prefer the chrome look to the standard black iron. They’re the same weight, and at the time of this writing, these dumbbells cost $10 more. They work well though and are recommended.

Pros:

  • Sixteen 5-pound plates
  • Four 2.5-pound plates
  • Four 1.25-pound plates

Cons:

  • Larger handles take some getting used to

7. Bayou Fitness Adjustable Dumbbell (50 Pounds)

Bayou Fitness Adjustable Dumbbell

These dumbbells from Bayou Fitness are a perfect example of why the CAP Barbells are such an excellent value. CAP offered two 20-pound dumbbells for around $50. Bayou Fitness offers one 50-pound dumbbell for over $120.

Still, what a dumbbell. The handle itself weighs ten pounds and comes with eight 5-pound plates so that you can lift from 10 to 50 pounds at a time. The dumbbell is made of chrome-plated steel and is designed to be ultra-compact. It even comes with a storage tray to keep your home gym neat and organized.

Still, there’s no getting around the fact that you’d need to drop over $250 to work out with two of these dumbbells at once. At this price, you’re better off buying the single and working out one arm at a time.

Pros:

  • Chrome-plated steel
  • Eight 5-pound plates
  • Bar weighs 10 pounds

Cons:

  • Fairly expensive for a single dumbbell

6. BalanceFrom Cast Iron Adjustable Dumbbells (105 Pounds)

BalanceFrom Cast Iron Adjustable DumbbellsLike the Unipak and Ringstar sets, these cast iron adjustable dumbbells combine for up to 105 pounds of weight and are extra-long to accommodate the additional incremental weights.

The set includes two 5-pound handles, sixteen 5-pound plates, four 2.5-pound plates and four 1.25-pound plates. What sets this set apart from the other two is the handles. They’re textured and contoured to provide you with a softer, more comfortable grip, making your exercises a little easier to get through. They’re also covered by a two-year warranty, although its hard to see what can fail with a dumbbell.

Although this set is a little more expensive than the other two, I think it’s the better for it. The textured handles are a lot more comfortable to use and improve my grip tremendously. Sometimes it’s worth paying a little extra for quality and comfort.

Pros:

  • Sixteen 5-pound plates
  • Four 2.5- and 1.25-pound plates
  • Textured handles improve grip

Cons:

  • Larger handles take some getting used to

5. Power Block Sport 2.4 Adjustable Dumbbells (48 Pounds)

PowerBlock SportBlock Adjustable Dumbbell SetI’ve never seen a set of dumbbells quite like Power Block. This innovative design makes it easy and quick to change the weight of your dumbbells even during your workout. Even better, the dumbbell set is compatible with additional weight packs to increase the maximum dumbbell weight further down the road.

The set includes sixteen 3-pound weights. Each dumbbell comes with eight weights, and you adjust the dumbbells in 3-pound increments. Each of the weights is color-coded, and a selector pin at the top makes switching out weights a cinch.

The balance of these weights is frankly incredible, and I love how compact they are and how much freedom is afforded. That said, these dumbbells are fairly expensive and don’t provide that much weight. You can add additional weights, but that’ll put your total cost around $200. With a ten-year warranty, however, it just might be worth it.

Pros:

  • Sixteen 3-pound plates
  • Easy to swap weights during workout
  • Backed by ten-year warranty

Cons:

  • Fairly expensive for the weight

Best Adjustable Dumbbells Under $300

4. Unipack Adjustable Dumbbells (200 Pounds)

Unipack Adjustable Dumbbells PoundsThe successor to Unipak’s 105-pound dumbbells, Unipak ups the ante with a pair of 100-pound dumbbells that is sure to give your arms and pectorals a serious workout.

The set includes sixteen 10-pound plates, four 5-pound plates and four 2.5-pound plates. Each dumbbell handle weighs 5 pounds, and the weights are secured by a screw-on collar. Like the other Unipak dumbbells, these are a little longer than your standard dumbbells, although, with the extra weight, that’s a welcome change.

I honestly can’t tell you how balanced they feel when the weight is maxed out. I can’t lift 100 pounds with a single arm so that I couldn’t test it out. This is a good set of dumbbells, but you need to know what you’re getting yourself into. 100 pounds is a lot of weight, and if you’re not strong enough to handle the weight, you could injure yourself.

Pros:

  • Sixteen 10-pound plates
  • Four 5-pound plates
  • Four 2.5-pound plates

Cons:

  • Larger handles take some getting used to

3. Bow Flex Select Tech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells (Pair)

Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Dumbbells

At some point, there must be a law of diminishing returns as far as dumbbells are concerned. The BowFlex Dumbbells, like several other sets of adjustable dumbbells on this list, combine to weigh 105 pounds, but they are sold at a premium price.

Unlike the other sets of 105-pound dumbbells, the Select Tech 552 uses a different incremental set of weights. There are seventeen 2.5-pound weights and ten 5-pound weights. Each bar weighs 5 pounds, and there are dials on the ends to secure the weights.

The weights can be used with the BowFlex mobile training app for iOS and Android, connecting you with tools to maximize your training and workout potential. For me, the performance isn’t worth the extra cost, but I’m not a professional athlete or bodybuilder either. If you can afford to pay a little bit more, then you’re sure to be pleased with these dumbbells.

Pros:

  • Seventeen 2.5-pound plates
  • Ten 5-pound plates
  • Connects with BowFlex training app

Cons:

  • Quite a bit more expensive than similar models

Best Adjustable Dumbbells Under $500

2. Stair Master Adjustable Dumbbells (100 Pounds)

StairMaster Pair of TwistLock Adjustable Dumbbells

Stair Master utilizes twist-locking technology to create the most efficient and easy-to-adjust dumbbells yet. I’m not convinced they’re worth $500, but everything is worth what it’s purchaser will pay for it.

Each bar weighs five pounds, and the set includes twenty 5-pound plates. Thanks to the innovative design that lets you twist and lock each plate together, the dumbbell is much shorter than a lot of adjustable dumbbells, which makes it less cumbersome to handle than other similar models. The handles are cushioned and offer both excellent grip and minimal discomfort, which helps you push harder for longer.

With dumbbells like this, it’s all about how seriously you take your performance and your workout. Every little bit of advantage can be an advantage worth pressing. For someone like me, these dumbbells are way too expensive. But if you’re a professional bodybuilder, your priorities are a lot different than mine,

Pros:

  • Twenty 5-pound plates
  • Comfortable handle
  • Twist-lock plates allow for easy adjustments

Cons:

  • Much more expensive than similar models

Best Adjustable Dumbbells Under $700

1. Bow Flex Select Tech 1090 Adjustable Dumbbell (180 Pounds)

Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Adjustable Dumbbell

Like the 200-pound pair of Unipak dumbbells, I could not test these dumbbells at their maximum range of weight. I’m simply not strong enough. These BowFlex dumbbells are even more slick and streamlined than their predecessors. While they carry a premium price tag, they deliver precision performance you can depend on.

Each handlebar weighs 10 pounds, and the set includes 32 5-pound plates. Each plate locks onto the previous plate in succession, just like the Stair Master dumbbells, all the way up to 90 pounds each. The metal plates are covered in a durable moulding to give them a modern, space-age design. Like the other BowFlex dumbbells, you can coordinate with your BowFlex app to maximize your training potential.

There isn’t much else to say here. If you’re serious about fitness and you have the means to buy these dumbbells, then you absolutely should. But if you blanch at the thought of spending $600 on a set of dumbbells, there are plenty of cheaper options on this list.

Conclusion

As you can see, if you’re looking to buy adjustable dumbbells, there are plenty of options for you to choose from, both in weight and in price. There are several options that didn’t make it on this list that is perfectly capable dumbbells, and there’s not a lot of wrong answers here. If you want to combine value and comfort, the BalanceFrom Cast Iron adjustable dumbbells are a wonderful choice, but there isn’t a bad pick on this list.

Top 10 Best In-Home Treadmill Reviews

Treadmills are one of the most popular types of exercise equipment because they are one of the easiest to use. They provide significant health benefits without requiring a major investment or intense cardio. They don’t take up too much space in your home, and they’re easy to use while performing other activities.

In fact, one of the treadmills on this list is connected to a desk that allows you to get exercise while you work.

Treadmills have a tremendous amount of diversity, so it can be difficult to know what treadmill you should buy. Fortunately, there are guides like this one to help you make just such a decision.

Things to Consider

Before you make the plunge, there are some things you should consider. How big is your treadmill going to be? Where are you going to put it? What kind of advanced features do you want? Here are five things you need to know before you buy a treadmill.

1. Incline

Some treadmills can be set at an incline, either fixed or variable. These intensify the workout and also allow you to prepare for hikes by simulating the slope of a hill or mountain. This is typically available in more expensive treadmills.

2. Motor

Most treadmills have different speed settings on their motor. This allows them to provide a customized workout based on cardio or calories. You want a treadmill that has a decent motor, preferably 2.0-3.0 horsepower.

3. Size

It isn’t enough to decide whether you have the room for a treadmill. You should also consider how large you want it to be. Standard treadmills are seven feet long; some are shorter, and others are longer. Shorter treadmills don’t take up as much room but also require a lot more work not to lose your balance.

4. Price

You can buy a cheap treadmill for around $100, while expensive models cost upwards of two grand. How much use do you expect to get out of your treadmill? You don’t want to spend $1000 on something you’ll only use once a week.

5. Space

Before you get down to the basics of a budget, you need to know how much room you have available in your house and how large of a treadmill you want. Try to find a space that can house your treadmill, whether it’s a living room, a bedroom or the garage.

Best In-Home Treadmills Under $200

10. Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill

Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill

If you don’t have a lot of room in your home – or your budget is hard-pressed – the Phoenix 98510 Easy-Up Manual Treadmill might be just what you’re looking for. It saves you money by forgoing the expensive motor instead of old-fashioned manpower. In this case, the manpower is you.

The 98510 uses a manual belt that reacts to your movement. The faster you walk (or run), the faster the belt spins to keep up with you. It is quite small, with a bed that is less than four feet long. Although its standard setup is a slight incline, it’s possible to set it up to walk more or less flat, which eases the workout. Two AA batteries power the onboard computer, which tracks your speed, distance, time and calories burned.

Storage is easy too, as the treadmill folds for upright storage, making it easy to store away in a closet. This makes it an ideal treadmill for use in a personal office space or small apartment. It weighs just 45 pounds and comes with a one-year warranty on the frame and a 90-day warranty on parts.

If you’re expecting a sophisticated workout, you’d best look elsewhere. But if you want an affordable, back-to-basics piece of equipment, the price is right.

Pros:

  • Manual powered belt responds to your movement
  • Folds upright for easy storage
  • Measures 46.5 x 50 x 21.1 inches

Cons:

  • Base setup runs on an incline

9. Confidence Power plus Motorized Electric Treadmill

Confidence Power plus Electric Treadmill

The Confidence Power Plus Treadmill is a small, office-sized treadmill that one-ups the Phoenix 98510 by adding a 600-watt motor. It is small, with a runway just over three feet long, but it’s perfect for a small office, apartment or even a home that just doesn’t have a lot of extra space.

The treadmill doesn’t have a lot of customization options – this is a pretty barebones budget model – and runs continuously for up to 30 minutes. It is suitable for users up to 250 pounds, and it folds down for easy storage. Because of the low price, it is a popular choice for people who want to make a homemade treadmill desk.

There aren’t a lot of customization options here, and it can’t be set at an incline. The biggest downside of the treadmill is that it doesn’t seem to be covered by a kind of warranty. This isn’t a deal breaker, considering its low price, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Pros:

  • Treadmill runs on 600-watt motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 49 x 24 x 11 inches

Cons:

  • Not covered by warranty

8. Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill

Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill

Although the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill is a little larger than the last two treadmills, it is still primarily a space-saving design and doesn’t feature a full-length runway. That said, it offers a lot more customization than the Confidence Power Plus.

Like the other two treadmills, the G 5.9 can fold up, making it ideal for smaller spaces. However, it has a much more sophisticated computer program that includes six preset workouts to help you focus and refine your exercise. It also has a two-position incline, which enables you to enjoy a more intense workout.

An LCD keeps track of your distance, calories, time and speed, and a pulse sensor makes it easy to get a reading on your pulse for more careful cardio training. The treadmill is rated for up to 275 pounds, and it comes with a one-year warranty on the motor and 90 days for parts and labour. This isn’t an amazing treadmill, and if you’re serious about fitness, this may not be the best pick. But if you just want something to help you get in shape, this is a good and inexpensive choice.

Pros:

  • Comes with six preset workouts
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 10 x 31 x 68 inches

Cons:

  • Limited incline

GoPlus HP Folding TreadmillAlthough we’re starting to get into the realm of more serious and capable treadmills, there is a huge jump from the GoPlus Treadmill and the Exerpeutic TF1000 than the five treadmills that follow.

As indicted in the name, this treadmill has a 2.25 horsepower motor, so its capable of giving you quite a workout. The motor runs at speeds form 0.5 mph all the way up to 7.5 mph and comes with 12 preset workout programs for a more guided experience. There are three different levels of incline to increase the intensity of your workouts, and the treadmill folds down for easy storage.

This is still a compact model, however. The belt is less than four feet long, so if you have a huge stride or want something larger, this isn’t the treadmill for you. However, for the price, it’s quite excellent, with an advanced LCD screen that displays an abundance of information and a mobile phone holder so you can watch movies or listen to music with ease. However, it has a maximum weight of just 220 pounds, and I’m unclear what kind of warranty is provided.

Pros:

  • 2.25 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 62 x 26.5 x 49.5 inches

Cons:

  • Unsure if covered by warranty

6. Exerpeutic TF1000 Walk to Fitness Electric Treadmill

Exerpeutic TF1000 Electric Treadmill

With 1.5 horsepower, the motor on the Exerpeutic TF1000 is not as capable as the motor on the GoPlus, and the runway isn’t as long. However, it is covered by a solid warranty, and you can’t put a price on peace of mind.

The motor can run at a speed of up to 4 mph, which isn’t suitable for anything other than light jogging. However, the treadmill is rated to support up to 400 pounds, which makes it an excellent choice if you’re overweight and trying to get healthier. It has an on-board computer that tracks vital statistic and folds down for easy storage.

The warranty is also excellent, with five years on the frame and motor and one year for parts. The motor here isn’t strong enough to appeal to runners, but if you’re trying to get in shape, this is one of the best treadmills on the market for the price.

Pros:

  • 1.5 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 51.2 x 32 x 63 inches

Cons:

  • Low horsepower makes this unsuitable for runners

5. LifeSpan TR 1200i Treadmill

LifeSpan TR 1200i TreadmillThe price jump from the Exerpeutic TF1000 and the LifeSpan TR 1200i Treadmill is huge, but there’s also a significant increase in quality, such as a 2.75 horsepower motor.

The suspension is designed according to accurate biomechanical specifications designed to support up to 300 pounds of weight. It has an advanced LCD screen that tracks your important statistics, as well as additional programs designed to work with your heart rate or body mass. The motor can run at speeds of up to 12 miles an hour so that you can get an excellent jog in.

The treadmill is backed by a comprehensive warranty that includes lifetime coverage for the frame and motor, as well as a five-year warranty on the parts and one year for labour. This is a full-size treadmill with an extra-long runway. If it has one drawback, it’s the fact that it weighs 220 pounds. You’re not going to be able to put this thing together or move it without help

Pros:

  • 2.75 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 75 x 35 x 52 inches

Cons:

  • Weighs 220 pounds

4. ProForm Power 995i Treadmill

ProForm 995i TreadmillThe ProForm Power 995i Treadmill is another example of a high-powered technological marvel, featuring a powerful 3.0 horsepower industrial-strength motor protected by a lifetime warranty.

Everything about this treadmill is bigger and better, including its five-foot long belt. The treadmill has two 2-inch speakers built in and is iPod compatible and ready. It’s got a fan built in to keep you cool while you work out, as well as an advanced digital screen that provides you with a ton of important information and customization. The frame and motor both come with a lifetime warranty, as well as a three-year warranty for parts and one year for labour.

The treadmill can also move fast, with speeds up to 12 mph, and an incline of up to 15 degrees. It is compatible with your first app, and it even folds down for better storage. If I have one problem with it, it’s too dependent on the built-in CPU. If the computer ever goes down, it will have to be repaired, or the treadmill is useless. Still, this is a powerful treadmill that can give you an excellent workout.

Pros:

  • 3.0 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 87.5 x 32 x 14 inches

Cons:

  • Too dependent on onboard computer

3. ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill

ProForm 2000 TreadmillThe ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill improves on the 995i in just about every way, from a more powerful 3.5 horsepower motor to its chest strap for better readings on your heart rate.

Like the 995i, you can run at speeds up to 12 mph, and the solid steel construction can support a weight of up to 350 pounds. Like the ProForm 995i, it is protected by a comprehensive warranty that extends labour coverage to two years instead of one year. It is compatible with it and ha built-in speakers as well as Bluetooth technology. In addition to its 15% incline, it can also decline up to 3%, allowing you to run downhill as well as uphill.

I don’t have a lot of bad things to say about it, except one: it weighs an extraordinary 320 pounds. This, coupled with its prohibitive size, makes it extremely difficult to move even with two people. Still, it provides an excellent workout, and the warranty is exemplary.

Pros:

  • 3.75 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 84 x 25 x 38 inches

Cons:

  • Weighs 320 pounds

2. LifeSpan TR1200-DT5 Treadmill

LifeSpan TR DT TreadmillI’ve mentioned walking treadmill desks before, both in the introduction and in one of the reviews. Although users have transformed several of the treadmills on this list into walking desks, the LifeSpan TR1200-DT5 Treadmill is the first one to do it for you.

The treadmill is designed to be compact, with a runway measuring 68.5 inches x 28.5 inches. The desk isn’t particularly large, measuring just 38 inches x 29 inches, but it’s more than large enough to set up a lap top and keyboard on or to utilize during video conferences.

The treadmill is equipped with standard tracking technology and is also connected wirelessly, communicating with LifeSpan’s Active Trac app to provide with important metrics and information throughout the day.

The TR1200-DT5 is not cheap, and if you’re on a limited budget, you might want to consider buying a cheaper treadmill and making your treadmill desk. There is one significant advantage to this model, however: unlike underpowered treadmills, this one moves continuously, so you don’t have to worry about jarring stops. It has a maximum weight of 350 pounds and is covered with a lifetime frame warranty, three-year motor warranty, two-year parts warranty and one-year labour warranty.

Pros:

  • Speeds up to 4 mph
  • Comes with a desk for easy working
  • Measures 68.5 x 38 x 50 inches

Cons:

  • Can be hard to use computer while walking

1. Sole Fitness F80 Treadmill

Sole Fitness F80 Treadmill

Although it comes with a premium price tag, the Sole Fitness F80 Treadmill is a hyper-advanced piece of training technology that will revolutionize the way you run. Its space-age computer gives you an extraordinary amount of control over your exercise experience.

With a 3.5 horsepower motor, the F80 runs up to 12 mph, the same speed as the last three treadmills on this list. That’s not what separates this treadmill from the competition, however; nor is it the six standard exercise programs built into the program. The runway has been specially designed to minimize the joint impact by 40%, reducing an already-low impact exercise even more.

The F80 is also backed by a significant warranty, offering a lifetime warranty on the frame, motor and deck, as well as a five-year warranty on electronics and a two-year warranty on labour. The only real downside is that, like the ProForm 995i, this treadmill is dependent on the on-board computer. If the motherboard or some other component is DOA, the treadmill won’t work, and you’ll have to wait for replacement parts.

This one problem aside, this is a fantastic treadmill, and if you have the money (and a little bit of patience if something goes wrong), this is an excellent purchase.

Pros:

  • 3.0 horsepower motor
  • Folds down for easy storage
  • Measures 87.5 x 32 x 14 inches

Cons:

  • Too dependent on onboard computer

Top 10 Best Mini Trampoline Reviews

What if I told you that there was a better way to exercise?

What if there was a better way to improve your cardio than jogging and an easy way to facilitate weight loss in addition to dieting?

You’d probably be interested in learning about this type of exercise. It’s called rebounding. The exercise equipment is inexpensive, and you can do it anytime, anywhere.

Believe it or not, the only thing you need is a trampoline.

You see, when you use a mini trampoline, and especially one that includes a balance bar, you are participating in rebounding, which was described in a study by NASA scientists as the “most efficient, effective form of exercise yet devised by man.”

Rebounding exercises can improve your health in some ways. In addition to improving your cardiovascular health, it can improve your balance and coordination, help you lose weight and benefit your lymphatic nerves. It’s also less rough on your back than jogging.

Rebounding can’t take the place of other exercise routines. It isn’t going to make you stronger or build muscles. But it can improve your health. More importantly, it’s fun – and exercise should always be fun.

Things to Consider

There’s more to buying a mini trampoline than just picking one up in a department store. There are several things you need to consider, such as its size and weight limitations. To help you have a clear picture of what to look for, I’ve listed five things to keep in mind while you’re shopping.

5. Easy Setup

I’m a hands-on kind of guy. I love putting furniture together. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm in this matter, however. Before you buy a unit, find out how much assembly is going to be required. If you’re shopping in a department store, you can ask a clerk, or you can inquire while shopping online.

4. Durability

You want to make sure the product you buy can stand the test of time. Now, it may not be reasonable to expect a mini trampoline to last you a decade, but you certainly want it to last more than six months. Try to pick something that’s made from decent, durable materials. Polypropylene material makes for a good bed, and stainless steel is a good choice for the frame.

3. Bounce

The bounce of a mini trampoline has a lot to do with how good your rebounding experience will be. It’s difficult to measure this if you’re buying online, so a good way to ensure you get enough bounce is to buy a more expensive, higher-quality trampoline. One thing to pay attention to is the springs, however. Quality springs are essential for a good bounce.

2. Warranty

A good warranty is not always indicative of quality, but it often is. Having a long warranty is good for other reasons, however. Accidents can happen, and sometimes products are shipped with defective parts. The better the warranty, the longer it will be protected. Many trampolines offer limited lifetime warranties on their products.

1. Weight Limit

One of the most important things to keep in mind is the weight limit your trampoline can handle. Some mini trampolines are designed especially with kids in mind, and may not be able to support an adult’s weight. Although you may be able to exceed a recommended weight limit, doing so can damage your trampoline and shorten its lifespan.

Not everyone likes to spend a lot of time shopping around. If you’re looking for the best mini trampoline on the market, we recommend the Maximus Pro Gym Rebounder. Its excellent design and construction make it one of the best mini trampolines on the market today.

Best Mini Trampolines Under $50

10. Stamina 36 inch Folding TrampolineStamina 36 inch Trampoline

One of the things I love about mini trampolines is that a lot of the models are very affordable. In fact, you can get a trampoline for less than $25. The Stamina 36-inch Folding Trampoline is a great choice for both those new to rebounding – like I was – and for those working with a limited budget.

As near as I can tell, the trampoline doesn’t renege on any of the important features. It’s three feet in diameter, so it doesn’t take up too much space, and it folds for easy storage so you can stow it away in your closet for later. The legs detach, and the whole disassembled trampoline fits inside a storage bin. The frame is made of stainless steel, and the trampoline bed has a thirty-band tension resistance. The trampoline also comes with a one-year warranty against defects and a 90-day warranty on parts. The weight limit is 250 pounds, standard for most mini trampolines.

While this is a surprisingly good trampoline for the price, it’s not the equal of some more expensive options. It doesn’t have any balancing tools, and the rebound isn’t nearly as nice as some other trampolines. For a budget option, however, this is an excellent choice. At this low price, you really can’t go wrong.

Pros:

  • Solid steel frame
  • Folds for easy storage
  • Comes with one-year warranty

Cons:

  • No bars for support

9. Crescendo Fitness Mini Jump TrampolineCrescendo Fitness TrampolineThe Crescendo Fitness Mini Jump Trampoline is very similar to the Stamina trampoline, from the size of the size of the trampoline to its safety cover that protects the cables on the edges. It has a few flaws, but overall I found it to be very satisfying.

It uses a solid steel frame and features 32 springs to provide the bounce, which is supposed to be stronger than elastic web bands. It is supported by six legs, which can be removed for storage. The trampoline bed itself does not fold. While this does make the frame more durable, it also means that it’s harder to store when not in use.

The weight limit is 250 pounds, which as I said is pretty standard. However, the manufacturer only advises use with children, which doesn’t make any sense to me because a lot of more expensive mini trampolines have similar weight limits. More disturbing, I’m not sure if this product comes with a warranty or not. I can’t find any information on the website. I didn’t call the company, but I shouldn’t have to just to find out about a warranty.

Pros:

  • Solid steel frame
  • Thirty-two springs offer better support and rebound
  • Legs detach for easy storage

Cons:

  • Unclear if covered by warranty

 8. Pure Fun Mini TrampolinePure Fun Trampoline

This mini trampoline from Pure Fun is slightly larger than the last two trampolines, but still small enough for a home gym or living room setup, and it shares similar design aesthetics to the previous two trampolines as well.

Like the other trampolines, this is built with a stainless steel frame and supported by 30 high-tension dual springs. The mat is made of polypropylene, which is among the best materials to use for a trampoline bed. Like most other mini trampolines, Pure Fun has a weight limit of 250 pounds. The legs come off easily, but the trampoline doesn’t fold.

Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem with this trampoline as with the Crescendo Fitness – no clear warranty information. Other customers have also expressed frustration over unclear warranty protection, and the parent company is difficult to contact. The trampoline itself works well, but a lack of clear warranty or easy customer service are two marks against it.

Pros:

  • Solid steel frame
  • Thirty springs offer better support and rebound
  • Legs detach for easy storage

Cons:

  • Unclear if covered by warranty

7. Ultega Mini Jumper TrampolineUltega Mini TrampolineThe Ultega Mini Jumper Trampoline looks virtually identical to the other trampolines on this list – 38 inches in diameter, six removable legs, plastic safety cover, with the main visible difference being the brand logo in the centre of the trampoline. Unlike the last two trampolines, however, Ultega is covered by a warranty, which is a major relief.

The trampoline has a similar number of springs to the previous models as well – in this case, 32. The trampoline has a TÜV / GS certification, which is a quality control test that is fairly standard in Germany and other European companies. Unlike a lot of cheaper trampolines, this one is engineered in Germany, which is often an indication of a higher measure of quality. It is covered by a limited two-year warranty and has a weight limit of 250 pounds.

Overall, this is a high-quality trampoline covered by a fairly decent warranty. That said, there have been some issues of certain trampolines shipping with flawed springs. In this event, you may have to contact the company for a replacement.

Pros:

  • Solid steel frame
  • Thirty-two springs offer better support and rebound
  • Comes with two-year warranty

Cons:

  • Some models ship with faulty springs

6. Merax 36″ Mini TrampolineMerax 36″ TrampolineLike most mini trampolines, Merax has its good and its bad. It has a padded handrail for kids to hold on to while jumping, which is very helpful for toddlers and small children with poor coordination. On the other hand, the maximum rating for the trampoline is just 180 pounds.

The design and construction of the Merax can hardly be faulted. This is an excellent trampoline. The mat is made of high-quality polypropylene, and the frame and springs are all stainless steel. The six legs are easily detached, and setup is a cinch. Even the support handlebar for toddlers can be removed for adult use.

The only real problem is the minimum weight limit. 180 pounds is pretty low. It might be fine for women, but I’m almost 180 pounds, and I’m not a particularly large man. The bottom line is this: if you have a slender build or you’re buying this for your kid, this is a great choice. But if your husband hopes to use it, you’ll likely need a different model.

Pros:

  • Solid steel construction
  • Includes padded safety handlebar for kids
  • Comes with one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Maximum weight limit of 180 pounds

5. Pure Fun 48-Inch Kids Super Jumper TrampolinePure Fun 48-Inch Jumper TrampolineUnlike the last Pure Fun mini trampoline, the 48-Inch Kids Super Jumper Trampoline is meant for children’s use only. It’s bright, colourful safety border and low maximum weight make this abundantly clear.

As far as construction goes, this trampoline is top-notch. The solid steel construction supports 40 galvanized steel springs that offer improved rebounding and strength. A pink cushion safeguards your children from the springs, preventing injuries. Also, an ergonomic handlebar is provided to provide your young ones with extra support. The larger, 48-inch area also gives kids more room to bounce. The trampoline comes with several safety certifications, so you can rest easy with your little ones.

There is one pretty major downside, however. The maximum weight capacity is a mere 100 pounds, meaning that unless you have kids, you’re not going to get any mileage out of this trampoline. Buy it for your one ones and get a heftier trampoline for your rebounding.

Pros:

  • Galvanized steel construction
  • Includes padded safety handlebar for kids
  • Forty springs offer better support and rebound

Cons:

  • Maximum weight limit of 180 pounds
Shop from AmazonAdd to Cart Amazon

4. Merax Kids Mini Trampoline Parent-Child TrampolineMerax Kids Mini Trampoline Parent-Child TrampolineIf you’re looking for the best of both worlds, you can hardly do better than the Merax Parent-Child Trampoline. This compact unit features two separate trampolines, one slightly smaller and shorter; both connected by the metal frame. This particular model is designed especially so that parents and children can rebind together.

The frame that connects the trampolines doubles as a safety handlebar. It’s a stainless steel frame with shock-resistant grips on the top. The trampoline setup is easy to put together, and you don’t need to use any tools. The smaller trampoline is rated for 150 pounds and the larger one for 250.

I love the idea presented here, but this is not the most compact mini trampoline setup at all. Neither of the trampolines can fold, and while the setup is easy, you’re not going to want to take it apart when not in use either. This is a good option for families with a home gym or plenty of space to set this up, maybe even outdoors. It’s a poor fit for smaller homes, however.

Pros:

  • Provides separate trampolines for parents and kids
  • Includes padded safety handlebar for both users
  • Rust-resistant frame suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Cons:

  • Takes up a lot of space

3. JumpKing Mini Oval Trampoline JumpKing Mini Oval TrampolineThe JumpKing Mini Oval Trampoline is designed mostly with kids in mind. It has a large area of 38 by 66 inches, offers two bars for stability and offers a cute purple design.

The trampoline offers plenty of room for your little one to jump around, and it’s designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Like most mini trampolines, the mat is made with polypropylene, and it has a large foam cover to guard your young one from all of the springs.

Again, the biggest downside here is its minimal weight capacity. The JumpKing is the only rate for 110 pounds, so this is only suitable for preteens and under. Still, if you’re looking for a mini trampoline that’s a little larger and has room for two smaller children to jump, this is an affordable way to make that happen.

Pros:

  • Solid steel construction
  • Includes two padded safety handlebar for kids
  • Large size of 38 by 66 inches

Cons:

  • Maximum weight limit of 110 pounds

2. MaXimus Pro Gym RebounderMaXimus RebounderThe MaXimus Pro Gym Rebounder is twice the price of the previous trampoline, but also a major step up from the previous trampoline. In fact, regarding rebounding experience, there isn’t any competition.

First off, this trampoline can handle quite a bit more weight than any other trampoline on this list. It’s rated at 130 kilograms, which is approximately 285 pounds – a big step up. Second, the springs are much more loosely sprung than cheaper models, which means you get a lot more bounce when you jump. The frame is solid steel, which is pretty standard. It measures 40 inches in diameter and comes with a one-year warranty.

This is probably the best mini trampoline you can get for the price. If you have the money, you can’t go wrong with this trampoline. It’s solidly built, offers great rebounding and even includes a handlebar for safety if you want to use it. It even comes with a DVD offering you practical workouts. Seriously, this is a great mini trampoline.

Pros:

  • Solid steel construction
  • Supports up to 285 pounds
  • Comes with one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Always check your trampoline for defective parts before you use

Best Mini Trampolines Under $350

1. JumpSport Fitness Trampoline Model 250JumpSport Model 250The JumpSport Fitness Trampoline Model 250 is another seriously impressive piece of rebounding technology. This trampoline is built to last, with a bungee system that bounces better and lasts longer, with 30 elastic cords reducing the strain of impact and prolonging the life of your purchase.

The elastic cord system seems to be a much more stable idea than standard metal springs. If one of the elastic bands breaks, it’s a lot less dangerous than if a spring breaks, and it doesn’t affect the performance of the trampoline nearly as much. Assembly is easy – all you have to do is attach the legs. Like the MaXimus Pro, this trampoline also comes with an exercise DVD. It is designed and engineered in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty, so you can’t go wrong in that regard.

My only problem with this trampoline is its small size. The trampoline bed is a mere 22 inches in diameter, which might be fine for kids, but doesn’t give a lot of room for adults. If that doesn’t bother you and you want a great rebounding experience, however, this is a great trampoline.

Pros:

  • Solid steel construction
  • Thirty elastic bands offer better support and rebound
  • Comes with one-year warranty

Cons:

  • Jumping area is only 22 inches in diameter

Top 10 Best Free Standing Punching Reflex Bag Reviews

Getting fit, toned and strong is a goal that many of us have but getting there can be difficult. However, with a punching bag the road to fitness can be made a lot more fun, and as a result, fitness goals can be reached far quicker. Free standing punch bags are great for those looking to improve their total body strength, as well as those looking to boost their cardiovascular fitness and overall health. There are many different types of free standing punching bags on the market, and each one has slight variations regarding stability and durability, and they each have different unique features such as locking mechanisms.

So, in order to help you out, and to make the process of buying a Free Standing Punching Bag easier we have done the hard work for you, and found a number of great Free Standing Punching Bags that would all look great in any home gym, and help you to reach your health and fitness goals.

You can get a great workout with nothing but a free standing punching bag, so as a result, they can make great additions to home gyms. However, as mentioned, there are lots of different punching bags on the market, and some are much better than others. Therefore to ensure that you get the best Free Standing Punching Bag on the market you should consider some important factors.

Things to Consider

A free standing punching bag can provide an excellent workout, improving upper body strength while also improving your reflexes. That said, there are a lot of things that go into making a good punching bag, and some are better than others. Below are five different things you should consider before you invest in a free standing punching bag. Paying close attention to these features will help ensure you get the right bag for your workout or practice needs.

1. Bag Weight

The weight of your punching bag goes a long way towards determining how much resistance a bag offers and how much force it can withstand. Some bags may be well-suited to light sparring and throws but won’t hold up well under massive hits.

2. Adjustable Height

Although this isn’t important to everyone, being able to adjust the height of your punching bag can be very convenient. If you’re going to be the only one using it, you can get away with having a fixed height, but multiple users demand a more flexible punching bag.

3. Base Stability

Base stability might be even more important than the weight of the bag in determining how much force you can put in your punches. If you’re constantly knocking the base over while landing a punch, your punching bag won’t be all that helpful to you.

4. Material

There are three common materials used in punching bags: leather, synthetic leather, and canvas. Leather bags are the most expensive but also the toughest and most durable. Canvas bags are cheaper but are also rougher on the skin and more prone to breaking.

5. Price

When it comes to punching bags – free standing or otherwise – price can vary dramatically from 30 or 40 to several hundred dollars. You want to try to strike a balance between getting a bag sturdy enough for your needs that also fits in your budget – not necessarily an easy task.

Top 10 Best Home Gym Reviews

When you go to the gym, how many pieces of equipment do you use during your workouts?

The answer most likely changes from trip to trip, and whether you’re working on cardio fitness, burning calories or muscle building.

Think about it, though. A high-end gym in the big city often has dozens of different types of exercise equipment, a lot of which you’ve probably never even used.

Short of spending tens of thousands of dollars on equipment, there is no way to accurately reproduce a professional gym in your garage. But most people only need one or two devices, like a treadmill, elliptical, rowing machine, etc.

If your goal is bulking up and building muscle, however, none of those things are going to help you much. A good rowing machine does provide an excellent full-body workout, but even then it can’t take the place of a bench press, pulleys and other muscle-building tools.

For that, you need a home gym.

Things to Consider

When shopping for a home gym, the most important thing to look for is versatility and functionality. As you continue to gain strength, you need a gym that can accommodate this. If you buy a home gym that doesn’t have enough weights or one that doesn’t have any leg crunches, you could find yourself being held back. Here are some things to look out for before you commit to buying anything.

5. Versatile

One of the most important things to look for in a home gym is its versatility. A good home gym will let you run a wide variety of cardio-training and muscle-building exercises. Some even have basic rowing gear.

4. Adjustable

Everyone has a different method of working out, and a good home gym should be able to accommodate you, and not the other way around. If you find you have to change the way you work out to accommodate your home gym, you’re using the wrong one.

3. Safety

When you’re using a home gym, you’re working with a system that often weighs several hundred pounds, possibly including very heavy weights. You can’t afford to use a home gym that isn’t sound and stable, with a sturdy base.

2. Space

Home gyms take up a lot of space when set up, and not everyone can dedicate an entire room to a home gym. If you’re pressed for space, try to find a home gym that can fold up when not in use.

1. Price

Trying to balance your exercise needs with your budgetary requirements. Buying a home gym that doesn’t meet your needs isn’t going to help you out, but spending more than you need isn’t any better.

10. Weider Ultimate Body Works

Weider Ultimate Body WorksThere are any number of reasons why you might want an inexpensive home gym setup. Cheaper sets tend to be smaller, and you might have limited room. Perhaps you’re just getting started with a home gym, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money initially.

Whatever your reason, Weider Ultimate Body Works is a shockingly good home gym, especially for the low price. The gym is designed to facilitate over 50 different exercises, in many cases utilizing your body weight to form its natural resistance. It includes a variety of essential features, including four power bands that let you increase resistance by up to 50 pounds and a carefully designed cable pulley system that allows for a wide freedom of motion. Whether you’re trying to gain strength, flexibility or just improve your overall fitness, this is an excellent gym that will serve you well.

Unfortunately, it does have a couple of faults, although they’re mostly minor. At this low price, you’ll naturally have to supply your weights. It is covered with a warranty, but sadly it only lasts for 90 days. Considering the low price of the gym, this is to be expected. The other low point is that the gym only ships to the lower 48 states. If you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or any other territory, you’re out of luck.

When it’s all said and done, however, this is a pretty solid home gym for a very reasonable price. If you’re a serious bodybuilder, your needs will probably be better met elsewhere. For those with more modest expectations, this could serve you very well.

Pros::

  • Adjustable incline allows you to increase resistance
  • Resistance bands allow you to increase weight resistance
  • Cable pulley system provides greater freedom of motion

Cons:

  • Won’t ship outside of the continental United States

9. Total Gym 1900 Home Gym

Total Gym Home Gym

The Total Gym 1900 isn’t nearly as economical as the Weider Ultimate Boy Works, and it has a larger footprint, but it delivers even bigger results, including a whopping 60 possible exercises.

Total Gym 1900 has a glide board that lets you work your upper and lower body, strengthen your abdominals, and it also features attachments for you to work your arms and your legs. Exercises for both strengthening and aerobics are possible, and it offers 12 different levels that offer anywhere from 3-45% body resistance. Total Gym 1900 has a maximum weight limit of 350 pounds and is suitable for people of all ages. The home gym arrives already assembled, which saves you a lot of time, and it folds down for easy storage.

That said, it does have a couple of problems. There’s no way to add extra weight to your workouts, and I couldn’t find any warranty information, which is rather disappointing for a piece of equipment that costs nearly $400. That said, this is a very versatile home gym, and it comes highly recommended, with 96% positive reviews on Amazon.

Pros:

  • Adjustable incline allows you to increase resistance
  • Glide board for upper and lower body workouts
  • Fully assembled upon shipment

Cons:

  • May not be covered under warranty

Best Home Gyms Under $500

8. Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym

Bowflex Home GymAlthough the Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym is similar in price to the Total Gym 1900, it offers a completely different exercise experience. Where the Total Gym was focused on providing a large number of exercises, the main focus of the Bowflex PR1000 is strengthening.

To that end, the PR1000 offers over 30 different strengthening exercises, including an advanced pulley system, a rowing machine rail for a full-body workout and a horizontal bench press. You can work with as little as five pounds of resistance or as much as 210 pounds. That makes the PR1000 suitable both for beginners and for serious athletes. Although the 210-pound weight limit might be too low for some die-hard athletes, it provides plenty of room to grow for most people.

The biggest downside of the PR1000 is that, unlike some Bowflex home gym systems, you can’t upgrade the maximum weight limit. That wasn’t a problem for me, but I’m not a serious fitness expert. The warranty is good for one year, which isn’t terrible but could be better. Finally, there’s no way to fold the Bowflex, and it does take up quite a bit of room. When it’s all said and done, however, this is still an excellent home gym, and it costs less than $450.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance from up to 210 pounds
  • Includes rowing machine rail
  • 30 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle

Cons:

  • Maximum weight is too limited for some people

7. Marcy MWM-990 Home Gym

Marcy MWM Home GymLike the Bowflex PR1000, the Marcy MWM-990 places its primary focus on strengthening and muscle-building exercises. It too offers some 30+ exercises designed to help you strengthen every muscle in your body.

There are a lot of different tools built into the MWM-990, such as a chest press arm, leg developers, multiple pulleys to work both the upper and lower back, an overhead lat station and a vertical butterfly. There is a 150-pound weight stack which you can work with to provide additional resistance to your exercises, protected by a safety lock, so you don’t have to worry about accidents.

I enjoyed working with this gym, but some of the exercises are a little rigid. It’s not a big deal, but it’s noticeable. The biggest weakness is the limited maximum weight. I weigh 160 pounds, so I can’t even use the gym to work with my weight. This is perfectly fine for me and others who just want general strengthening, but serious professionals will find the MWM-900 lacking.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance up to 150 pounds
  • Safety lock prevents weight-related accidents
  • 30 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle

Cons:

  • Maximum weight is too limited for some people

6. Body-Solid BSG10X Home Gym

Body-Solid BSG Home GymThere is a price jump of $300 between the MWM-900 and the Powerline BSG10X Home Gym, but the difference between the two is night and day. The BSG10X is made with military-grade materials and offers 2200 pounds of tension strength.

Those 2200 pounds of tension strength are one of the best aspects of the BSG10X, as it helps to compensate for the minimal 160-pound weight stack, providing enough tension resistance for even the most die-hard bodybuilder. The home gym is packed with features, including several pulley systems, a low row bar and a press arm that adjusts in eight different positions. It is covered with a ten0year warranty on the frame and a one-year warranty on parts.

You’re going to need someone to help you put this thing together, however. It weighs almost 350 pounds, and it’s so large you’ll probably need three men to carry it into the house and set it up. Weight aside, this is a killer home gym that is sure to serve you for years to come.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance up to 160 pounds
  • Offers 2200 pounds of resistance
  • Over 40 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle

Cons:

  • Very large and heavy

Best Home Gyms Under $1000

5. Total Gym XLS

Total Gym XLSThe Total Gym XLS is a larger, better and more expensive version of the Total Gym 1900. Like that last one, it is a glide gym. Rather than focusing on extensive and intensive strengthening exercises, the Total Gym XLS provides a more well-rounded berth of exercises suitable for the whole family.

The gym includes a variety of tools, such as a leg pull accessory, wing attachments and a sophisticated cable-pulley system. Also, it comes with a variety of tools to help get you and your family on a healthy track, such as exercise and diet guides, five workout DVDs and an exercise chart documenting all 80+ possible exercises

With a maximum weight of 400 pounds, the Total Gym can accommodate most anybody. IT’s the biggest shortcoming is its warranty. Although the frame is protected by a lifetime warranty, all other parts have a mere six-month warranty, which seems rather underwhelming, considering this costs well over $800. If you can get past the warranty, however, you will find an excellent home gym for the entire family.

Pros:

  • Adjustable incline allows you to increase resistance
  • Over 80 possible exercises
  • Folds down for easy storage

Cons:

  • Warranty could be better

4. Body-Solid EXM1500S Home Gym

Body Solid EXMS Home GymLike the BSG10X, the Body-Solid EXM1500S Home Gym also comes with 160 pounds of weight stacks, giving you plenty of space to operate. Unfortunately, this is par for the course for the EXM1500S – it doesn’t significantly improve on any of the excellent features of the GSG10X.

Everything you need, want and expect from a home gym is here, from a lat bar and low row bar too high and low pulleys, an ab crunch and foam rollers for the legs. Weight can be adjusted in ten-pound increments, and the gym is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. This warranty covers all aspects of the machine, which is an exceptional value, especially considering the price of the gym.

If we’re discussing the EXM1500S purely regarding performance, I don’t think it’s quite as good as the BSG10X. The former gym was a model of design and construction, and this one doesn’t quite live up to it. Body-Solid makes up for it with an unbeatable warranty, however, which is more than enough to justify the price of this gym.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance up to 160 pounds
  • Over 40 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle
  • Completely covered by lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • Maximum weight is too limited for some people

3. Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Gym

Bowflex Xtreme SE Home Gym

The Bowflex Xtreme 2SE Home Gym is an insanely intense workout machine, packed with so many features that it’s almost overwhelming. The 2SE ably demonstrates why Bowflex machines are at the top of the game.

One of the biggest difference between the 2SE and the PR1000 I reviewed earlier is the weight. The PR1000 could only offer 210 pounds of resistance, and there was no way to improve it. The Bowflex Xtreme lets you upgrade the resistance to 310 or 410 pounds, providing a lot more room to grow and improve your workouts. It offers over 70 different exercises and is packed with additional features that let you approach strengthening from a variety of different angles.

The power rods have a lifetime warranty, but the frame has just a one-year warranty, with only 60 days on parts. While there’s no question that the Xtreme 2SE is a much more sophisticated gym than the EXM1500S, this helps to highlight just how excellent the warranty is on the latter gym.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance up to 160 pounds
  • Offers 2200 pounds of resistance
  • Over 40 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle

Cons:

  • Very large and heavy

2. Body-Solid Fusion 500 Gym

Body Solid Fusion Gym

The Body-Solid Fusion 500 offers over 60 intense, muscle-building workouts in an intense, modern piece of equipment that is designed to strengthen your whole body.

The Fusion 500 has a variety of built-in tools, including a chest press, incline press, decline press, lat pull-down, leg extension, bicep curl, triceps extension, mid row, cable row, shrugs and a shoulder press. It comes with either a 210- or 310-pound stack so that you can push yourself extremely hard. Like the EXM1500S, the Fusion 500 is protected by a lifetime warranty, so you can be sure your hard-earned money isn’t going to waste.

This gym may not be as fancy as the BowFlex, but in a lot of ways, it is more streamlined. As far as a warranty is concerned, Body-Solid blows BowFlex out of the water. The Xtreme 2SE offers a more comprehensive workout and is probably the better gym, but I’m not convinced the Fuson 500 isn’t the better value.

Pros:

  • Weight resistance up to 160 pounds
  • Over 40 strengthening exercises make it ideal for building muscle
  • Completely covered by lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • None

1. BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym

BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym

To the uninitiated, the BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym is downright intimidating. There are so many different tools at your disposal that jumping in is a daunting task. If you’re spending more than $2500 on a home gym, however, the chances are that you’re getting yourself into.

The BodyCraft Xpress is built to last, with 12-gauge steel tubing and aircraft cable rated at over 2000 pounds of tension. The home gym is designed to be biomechanically accurate, helping you achieve more out of your workouts by working with your body rather than against it. The home gym has three different levels of a pulley, an adjustable bench press station, chest and shoulder presses and a 200-pound weight stack.

Backed by a lifetime warranty, this home gym leaves nothing to chance. With over 100 possible exercises, you’ll be using this for the rest of your life. Not bad for $2500.

Top 10 Best Fitness Tracker Reviews

all live busy lives. Cars, subways, buses and airliners make it possible for us to get things done in big cities. Chinese takeout and fast food restaurants keep us fed between college classes, work, daycare, church and all of the other activities that take up our lives.

With all of this business, however, it can be difficult to find the time to exercise. Worse, our hectic schedules make it challenging for many people to manage their fitness regimes.

But now, more than ever, fitness and exercise play a crucial role in ensuring we stay healthy in the face of office chairs, car rides and fatty fast foods.

That’s why many people use fitness trackers to help them take control of their health, including my wife.

My wife’s tracker is pretty simple – it lets her know how many steps she’s walked, miles she’s travelled and calories she’s burned. Others are more advanced, providing you with a detailed synopsis of all your exercises and aerobic activities.

There is no wrong way to pursue fitness. Some practice yoga. Others ride bikes, jog, swim, hike, lift weights, practice gymnastics, take boxing lessons, rebound on a trampoline. A lot of people combine a variety of aerobic activities into their regime.

Whether you want something to keep track of your footsteps or need a full-on guide to help you manage a serious routine, a fitness tracker can be your best friend.

Things to Consider

Although the ideal fitness tracker means different things to different people, there are some general things everyone (or most everyone) should keep in mind before they buy one. Here are five of the most critical things to consider.

5. Heart Rate Monitor

A lot of people, especially those engaged in more strenuous exercises, appreciate the information a heart rate monitor provides. If we lived in a perfect world, there would be a universal system of reading heart rates. But we live in a world where pounds and kilograms live side by side. Different fitness trackers measure your heart rate in slightly different ways, and some provide more information than others. Knowing how to read this information and make proper use of it is critical to getting more out of your exercise.

4. Digital Display

All fitness trackers have a digital display of some kind or another, but these displays can vary greatly from model to model. Some trackers have LCD screens that provide all your critical information on the screen. Others only provide the most basic information, and you have to connect to an app to access the rest of your information. This brings me to our next point.

3. Fitness App

In many cases, the app that comes with your fitness tracker is just as important as the tracker itself. In much the same way, your tracker is only as good as your app. Try to do some research on the quality of the apps before you buy.

2. Battery Life

This is another area of major concern. How long can your tracker last before it runs out of juice? Most trackers do not run on battery power but are charged through a USB port and store a certain amount of electrical charge. If you frequently exercise for hours at a time, make sure your tracker is up to the task.

1. Price

There’s an old Roman proverb that states, “Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it.” However, if you end up buying a tracker that doesn’t give enough feedback – or more than you need – you won’t get the full worth of what you’re paying for. Figure out your fitness needs before you buy.

10. Keoker ID115 Fitness Tracker

Keoker ID Fitness TrackerI don’t know what model of fitness tracker my wife uses exactly, but it’s something similar to the Keoker ID115. This just-the-basics tracker comes in five colours, costs less than $20 and has a simple display screen that lets it effectively double as a watch. In addition to telling time, the display screen also shows your remaining battery life.

The Keoker ID115 is the perfect example of how many fitness trackers are dependent on their apps. By itself, the tracker hardly offers any useful information at all. However, this Bluetooth-enabled device communicates directly with your cellphone, offering a variety of useful feedback. For example, the sleep monitor keeps track of your hours of sleep, including how much time you spend in REM sleep. It also monitors the number of steps you walk each day, the distance you cover, the number of calories you burn, etc. It can even sync with various other apps and vibrates, reminding you to read incoming messages.

The Keoker ID115 isn’t the right fit for everyone. It does not have a heart monitor, and it is not waterproof, so you can’t wear it while swimming or in the shower. However, it can hold a charge for three to four days, so you don’t have to worry about constantly recharging the unit. If you’re a swimmer or engage in serious aerobics or body training, you’re going to want to invest in something a little more advanced. But if you’re just looking for a simple tracker to keep you motivated, this is your ticket.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Charge lasts for several days

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

9. Jarv Elite IPX7 water resistant Fitness Tracker

Jarv Elite IPX water resistant Fitness TrackerThe Jarv Elite IPX7 is similar to the ID15 in a lot of ways. It has a similar design, including a display screen that gives the time and battery life. There are a few significant differences between the two models, however.

The IPX7 performs all of the same basic functions as the Keoker ID115. It tracks your footsteps and the miles you walk, monitors your sleep habits and communicates all of this information directly to the app on your phone via Bluetooth. The IPX7 has an impressive battery life, running for up to ten days on a single charge. It is also water resistant up to a meter for half an hour. This means you can ear it in the shower or a dip in the hot tub, but it’s not suitable for swimming. It even has a UV sensor to alert you if you’re in danger of getting sunburnt.

All in all, this is quite a capable fitness tracker, with some useful functions and a long battery life. However, it still lacks a heart rate monitor, and it isn’t suitable for swimming, so, like the Keoker ID115, this isn’t suitable for swimmers or serious athletes.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Charge lasts for up to ten days

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

8. Coffea H7-HR Activity Tracker

Coffea H HR Activity TrackerThe Coffea H7-HR fitness and activity tracker is the first tracker on this list that includes a heart monitor. Although it is similar in design to the previous trackers on this list, the H7-HR is slightly larger and features a more attractive, information display.

As an activity monitor, it keeps track of your physical index, how many steps you’ve taken, how many calories you burned, how fast you walked. It also offers 14 training modes to help you better understand and improve your fitness level. The sleep monitor gives you valuable feedback about ways you can maximize your rest, and the heart monitor records your heart both when you exercise and when you’re at rest.

The fitness tracker offers a few other bonus features, such as weather forecasts and silent, vibrating alarms. However, this tracker is not rated for use in water and is thus not a suitable fitness tracker for swimmers. The tracker can run for four days of continuous use or between seven to ten days of idle operation.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Monitor keeps track of your heartbeat and pulse

Cons:

  • Can’t be used while swimming

7. Moov Now 3D Fitness Tracker

Moov Now D Fitness TrackerThe Moov Now Fitness Tracker is a completely new kind of fitness tracker. This innovative model is programmed with a basic AI that coaches you during your workouts, encouraging you to push further and make the most out of your exercises.

Moov Now does everything you expect from a fitness tracker. It keeps track of your steps, your miles, your calories and your speed. It has built-in coaching programs that walk you through a variety of different athletic sports. It’s water proof, allowing you to take it with you on your swims, keeping track of your strokes and your lap times. Even better, you don’t have to worry about charging it. Moov Now is powered by a replaceable battery that lasts six months.

There is no heart monitor or sleep monitor in this tracker. This is more like a personalized assisting working with you to help you get the most out of your workouts and push yourself to the next level. This is a great product for serious athletes, but probably not suitable for those who want a simple device.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Provides real-time coaching advice for various sports
  • Waterproof and suitable for swimming

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

6. Garmin Vivofit Fitness Band

Garmin Vivofit Band

In addition to being a fitness tracker, the Garmin Vivofit Fitness Band is also a GPS unit, making it easier for you to stay in touch with the rest of your life. Did you go somewhere and leave your phone at home? Your friend can figure out where you are, thanks to the GPS tracker, and take it straight to you!

The Vivofit keeps tabs on your walking, calories burned and other useful features like a typical tracker, even offering personalized goals for you every morning. A sleep tracker lets you know how well you’re sleeping and if you need to change anything.

The display features the time of day and your walking stats. The battery is designed to run for a year and can be replaced when it burns out. There is no heart rate monitor, and the tracker isn’t waterproof, but this is a good tracker for those who want a little more than the basics from their tracker.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Personalized goals are provided every morning

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

5. Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor

Polar FT7 Rate Monitor

Unlike some other fitness trackers, the Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor is a heart rate monitor first and a fitness tracker second. It provides you with real-time, up-to-date information on your heart rate, helping you to make the most out of your workouts.

Factoring your heart rate is essential to achieving a good workout. The FT7 provides a visual display on the LCD that lets you check your heart rate at a glance. It can also tell you whether your routines are working towards improving fitness or burning fat. A Smart Calorie features informs you how many calories you burn during a session, helping you to plan your diet around your workouts. The monitor is waterproof down to 30 meters (100 feet).

As a fitness tracker, Polar FT7 offers just the bare minimum of features. But as far as a heart rate monitor is concerned, this one is first-rate, and since it is waterproof, you can even monitor your heart rate while swimming.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Monitor keeps track of your heartbeat and pulse

Cons:

  • No sleep monitor

4. Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband

Fitbit Flex Wireless Sleep Wristband

The Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity tracker is back to being a standard-style fitness tracker, even down to its minimalist design. It’s available in eight different colours and is made with rubber.

I’ve described the basic functions of a fitness tracker several times at this point, so I don’t want to repeat myself too much. The Fitbit Flex provides all basic exercise tracking features as well as a sleep monitor. It has a clock on it and connects to the app on your phone wirelessly via Bluetooth.

There’s nothing wrong with this fitness tracker, but at the same time, I don’t see that it does anything a lot of cheaper models can’t do. There’s no heart rate monitor, and while it is water-resistant, you can’t swim with it. In my opinion, you’re better off buying the ID115 or the IPX7.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Charge lasts for up to five days

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

3. Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker

Fitbit Alta Fitness TrackerThe Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker is a sleek, modern-looking tracker with a stylish, minimalist display. It has a very intuitive app that is easy to read and understand.

Like the Fitbit Flex, the Fitbit Alta offers all the basics but not a lot more. As near as I can tell, the most innovative function of the Fitbit Alta is its crisp aesthetic, which allows you to swap out the armband for a different colour at any time. The charge lasts for five days, but it is recommended to charge it every two or three days. The Alta is water resistant, but not suitable for showering or swimming.

Honestly, I’m not sure what differences there are between Alta and Flex. They’re from the same company and utilize the same app, have the same battery life and share all the same features. This is a good fitness tracker, but I just don’t see how it improves on the Fitbit Flex.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Charge lasts for up to five days

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

 2. Samsung Gear Fit Fitness Tracker

Samsung Gear Fit Tracker

I love the design of the Samsung Gear Fit Fitness Tracker. It looks almost exactly like a typical digital watch, with the same style of the band as watches use.

I also appreciate the subtle differences between the Samsung Gear and the Fitbit models. While it does mostly all the same things, it’s watch-like appearance makes it better suited for professional settings, and it does offer a heart rate sensor. While this isn’t a full-fledged monitor and won’t give you the detailed feedback of the Polar FT7, it can provide some guidance while jogging, hiking or riding a bike.

Like most fitness trackers, this connects to your phone via Bluetooth, notifying you of incoming calls and messages and even letting you reject or accept incoming calls. The downside to the Samsung Gear is its app. Where Fitbit has an intuitive, fully realized app interface, the Samsung app lags behind, and it is harder to customize the experience. This is a great watch and fitness tracker, but it’s not perfect.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Heart beat sensor measures your pulse

Cons:

  • No heart rate monitor

1. Fitbit Charge HR Wireless Activity Wristband

Fitbit Charge Activity Wristband

The Fitbit Charge HR fitness tracker is a major change in design from the other fitness trackers on this list, if but for one simple reason: the digital display is much more muted. That difference is a superficial one, however; Fitbit Charge HR improves on earlier Fitbit models in some significant ways.

For example, the Fitbit Charge has a heart monitor that lets you see your heart rate during certain activities or times of the day by measuring your pulse. It also tracks your exercise routine, helping you to watch your progress grow or just make sure you’re staying on track. It can connect with more devices than ever before, including Android, iOS and Windows phones, as well as your Windows desktop.

Everything else here is what you’d expect. Sadly, like other Fitbit trackers this isn’t suitable for swimming, but for just about anything else, Fitbit can help you become the best you can be.

Pros:

  • Keeps track of your daily fitness activities
  • Helps monitor your sleep schedule
  • Monitor keeps track of your pulse

Cons:

  • Can’t be used while swimming
