Top 10 Best Diaper Pails Reviews

Diapers are gross. That’s a universal fact. But if you have a baby, you have to deal with them whether they’re gross or not.

Unfortunately, diapers aren’t just gross. They smell bad. And no matter what garbage can you put them in, they keep don’t stop smelling. Dirty diapers can make your whole house smell, something nobody wants.

Diaper pails solve this by providing you with a special unit to dispose of your diapers. But diaper pails aren’t just another garbage can. They’re designed to trap in the odors from the dirty diapers so the rest of your home can smell like Sunday morning.

Here’s the problem. Products don’t always work as advertised. The last thing you need is to spend $30 on a diaper pail that doesn’t actually make a difference.

You need to be able to pick out the wheat from the weeds. We’ve done the gardening for you, and are happy to present our picks for the best diaper pails on the market.

Isn’t it time to say goodbye to a smelly home?

Things to Consider

You may be wondering what exactly it is you should be looking for in a diaper pail. Perhaps the best way to approach it is to think of it as a specialized garbage can.

1. Size

How big of a pail do you need? Obviously, not all pails are the same size. Do you just have one baby in diapers? Do you have several toddlers? Figure out how many diapers a day you go through. If you plan to keep the diaper pail in the nursery, consider how much room you have available as well.

2. Liner

For most regular garbage cans, any old bag will do. But for diaper pails, the right liner for your diaper pail depends on what kind of diapers you use. If you use cloth diapers, then you’ll want a cloth liner. If you use disposable diapers, than more of a standard garbage bag will work. Bear in mind that some diaper pails are intended to work with specific liners.

3. Hands-free Operation

Changing diapers often requires both hands. Many diaper pails are designed for hands-free opening, allowing you to tap the pail open and dump the diaper in without having to touch the lid.

4. Air Seals

This is another important thing to look for. A good diaper pail has seals of some kind that are designed to trap the bad smells and prevent them from escaping. Diaper pails that don’t have these aren’t a significant improvement over an ordinary trash can.

5. Price

Diaper pails typically vary in price from around $20 to as much as $75 or so. There’s absolutely no reason to pay more than that for a diaper pail, so if you see one priced at $100 or more, look for something different.

10. Safety 1st Easy Saver Diaper Pail

People look for different things in a diaper pail. For some, the most important metric is hands-free operation. For others, its odor retention or the size of the bin. As it stands, the Safety 1st Easy Saver Diaper Pail is not going to top out anyone’s metrics for best diaper pail. It’s main advantage is its low price.

Don’t get me wrong. This is a perfectly capable diaper bag. Although it’s not hands-free it’s easy to open and use, and the seal does a good job of trapping odors. It’s also pretty large, measuring 15 x 10.9 x 18.4 inches, and it works with standard trash bags.

The biggest issue I have with the diaper pail is that, aside from its low price and its design, it doesn’t really do anything to stand out from other diaper pails on the market. This might seem like faint praise, but the truth is, the diaper pail works perfectly fine. It isn’t the best diaper pail out there, but it’s worth the price.

Pros:

● Fairly large size
● Lid snaps to seal in odors
● Deodorizer disc included

Cons:

● No hands-free usage

9. Tommee Tippee Simplee Diaper Pail Starter Set

There’s a lot of good to be said about the Tommee Tippee Simplee Diaper Pail. The pail is small but stylish, with a modern design that won’t look out of place in your nursery. What makes this diaper pail so great is the smart way they’ve designed the opening.

In an ordinary trash can, you just open it up and dump your garbage. Not so here. Once you lift the lid, there is an antibacterial smart lid that you have to push the diaper through. This helps to eliminate germs and fight the spread of bacteria, keeping you and your baby healthier.

As for size, the pail is large enough to hold about 18 diapers. The diaper pail comes with refill cartridges that are good for disposing up to 180 diapers. That means that, depending on how many kids you have, you might not have to buy new cartridges for three months or more.

Like the Safety 1st diaper pail, this one doesn’t have a way to open it hands-free, which is disappointing. Nevertheless, it’s a smart design that presents a great way to fight the spread of bacteria.

Pros:

● Holds up to 18 diapers at once
● Special safety lid eliminates bacteria
● Refill packs included

Cons:

● No hands-free usage

8. Dekor Classic Hands-Free Diaper Pail

As the name indicates, this is the first hands-free diaper pail on the list. The Dekor Classic Hands-free Diaper Pail provides a convenient, sanitary way to dispose of your diapers without the hassle of bending down to open the lid.

Like other diaper pails, there’s a special lid where you push the diapers through for sanitary reasons. Triple odor control helps to ensure that you never have to deal with an unwanted smell, and its plastic material holds in odors better than metal cans.

The Dekor Classic is big enough to hold up to 45 diapers at a time, and its easy open system makes emptying the pail a cinch. Replacement filters are inexpensive, so you won’t have to spend a lot of money on replacements. Perhaps best of all, the diaper insert can be removed when your baby is grown, letting you use this just like any other trash can. And with its limited lifetime warranty, there’s no reason why you won’t.

Pros:

● Holds up to 45 diapers at once
● Special safety lid eliminates bacteria
● Backed by limited lifetime warranty

Cons:

● Replacing the bag can be frustrating

7. Playtex Diaper Genie Complete

The Playtex Diaper Genie is the leading name in the world of diaper pails, and for good reason. It has plenty of room, commands excellent odor retention and has a hassle-free hands-free opening that makes everything go just a little faster.

First off, this diaper pail has a lot of room. Each bag can hold an average of 27 diapers. It has a built-in carbon filter at the top of the lid to filter out bad odors as soon as you open the container to dispose of your diaper. Microbial filters and an air-tight clamp lock in any odors that can’t be eliminated, ensuring as few smells escape as possible.

Disposing of the diapers is easy too. The front of the bin pops open, making it easy for you to tie the bag and take it out. Plus, the ergonomic foot pedal eliminates unnecessary bending every time you need to make a smelly deposit, which is great for your back. In short, this is an excellent diaper pail, easily one of the best on the market.

Pros:

● Holds up to 27 diapers at once
● Carbon filter eliminates odors
● Bag is easy to remove and replace

Cons:

● None

6. Baby Trend Diaper Champ Deluxe

If you’re looking for an option that fuses the best of diaper pails and traditional garbage cans, the Baby Trend Diaper Champ may be just what you’re looking for. It has both hands-free and hands-on methods to dispose of your diapers, and it can be used with either the proprietary Diaper Champ bags of regular 13-gallon garbage bags.

The Diaper Champ is much like your standard 13-gallon garbage can, except that this is a garbage can designed to trap odors in place, unlike your standard run-of-the-mill can from the supermarket. It’s easy to load in the diapers, and it’s also easy to take the bag out, unlike a lot of other diaper pails.

The biggest problem with this diaper pail is that it’s not toddler proof. Because it more closely resembles a standard garbage pail, there’s nothing stopping a curious toddler from sticking his hand inside. Antibacterial or not, there’s no way you want that happening, but I’ve heard horror stories. That design oversight is not a deal-breaker, but it is something to keep in mind.

Pros:

● Holds up to 30 diapers at once
● Works with standard garbage bags
● Bag is easy to remove and replace

Cons:

● Not toddler-proof

5. Dekor Plus Hands-Free Diaper Pail

If you like the Dekor Classic, but think you’ll need something larger, then you need the Dekor Plus Hands-free Diaper Pail. It offers the same smart design and sanitary, germ- and odor-fighting powers, but with a larger bin that can hold more diapers.

Like the Dekor Classic, the Dekor plus is completely hands-free and uses triple odor control to keep the gross smells of your baby’s diaper in the bin where they belong.

Because of its odor-sealing technology, it is ideal not just for disposable diapers but for cloth ones as well. It’s also designed to make the transition to an ordinary trash can when your children are grown, just like the Classic.

The big difference here is the size. With 27 square inches, there’s room for up to 60 diapers, and that extra space makes this an ideal bin for cloth diapers, as they tend to take up more space than the disposable variety.

Plus, the trap door makes it easier to dispose of your diapers. Instead of trying to force them through a tight lid filter, simply drop them in and let the trap door take care of the rest. If you need a larger diaper pail, this may be your best option.

Pros:

● Holds up to 45 diapers at once
● Special safety lid eliminates bacteria
● Backed by a limited lifetime warranty

Cons:

● Replacing the bag can be frustrating

4. Busch Systems Odorless Cloth Diaper Pail

The Busch Systems Odorless Cloth Diaper Pail is a little bit different from the other diaper pails on this list. While the Dekor Plus diaper pail can accommodate cloth diapers, Busch Systems designed a diaper pail that’s made expressly for cloth diapers. While that means this diaper pail is targeted towards a specific market, that also means they can get the most mileage out of their design.

Like the Diaper Genie, this diaper pail employs a carbon filter to help reduce odors and prevent them from escaping. It has a large lid that is easily removed but with clamps strong enough to prevent a toddler or small child from accidentally opening it or falling in.

The main drawback here is that this just isn’t very big. The pail is only seven gallons, so it won’t hold a huge amount of diapers at once. It is large enough to keep the stored away until its time to do laundry. Its wide brim makes it ideal for using the cloth bags best suited for capturing washable diapers.

Pros:

● Seven-gallon bucket
● Safety clamps prevent toddlers from accessing
● Carbon filter eliminates odors

Cons:

● Only suitable for cloth diapers

3. Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail

The Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail is at the high end of the price range for diaper pails but considering the materials it’s made from, that’s not surprising. Unlike most other diaper pails, Ubbi doesn’t use proprietary diaper bags, preferring to save you money by using the same garbage bags you use for the rest of your cans.

Ubbi is almost eloquent in its simplicity. Its intuitive design doesn’t require a hands-free foot button, because it has a specially designed opening that allows you to insert diapers at any time, all without leaking the smell outward. Its steel construction traps odors and gives them nowhere to go. And since you don’t have to open up the pail every time you add a diaper, you don’t have to worry about smelling what’s inside each time either.

Don’t take my word for it. Ubbi has won nine different awards for their innovative design. In fact, this diaper pail is easily in the running with the Diaper Genie for best diaper pail. It can hold up to 50 diapers as well, making it one of the largest diaper pails on the market.

Pros:

● Holds up to 50 diapers at once
● Special safety lid eliminates bacteria
● Stainless steel blocks odors

Cons:

● More expensive than other models

2. Munchkin Step Diaper Pail, Powered by Arm & Hammer

The Munchkin Step Diaper Pail has to be the most streamlined diaper pail I’ve ever seen. It’s postmodern cylindrical appearance is almost elegant in its simplicity. Thanks to a hand-free design, it’s also really easy to use.

There isn’t much about the way diaper pails work that I haven’t already said before, so I’ll focus on what this diaper pail does that others don’t.

For one, it’s innovative design automatically closes the bag each time you close the lead, making it harder for odors to leak. Second, it is compatible with several different refill bags, making it more versatile than other diaper pails.

Perhaps best of all, Arm & Hammer is dedicated to planting a tree with every sale of this product. By buying this diaper pail, you’re actually giving back to the world. And that might be the greatest gift of all.

Pros:

● Innovative design closes bag each time
● Special safety lid eliminates bacteria
● Dual refill compatible

Cons:

● More expensive than other models

1. Janibell Akord Adult Diaper Pail

The Janibell Akord Adult Diaper Pail is the largest diaper pail on the market. This 11-gallon container can fit up to 120 diapers full the ultimate in convenience.

Made with ABS resin, this diaper pail locks odors inside almost as well as steel, and it converts easily to an ordinary trashcan simply by removing the safety lid. The design is sleek and efficient, and perfectly airtight, making it harder for odors to leak out.

This isn’t the best diaper pail on the market for controlling odors, but it is far and away the largest. If you have two or three kids in diapers all at the same time, this might be a worthy investment for you. Otherwise, there are better, cheaper models out there.

Pros:

● Holds up to 120 diapers at once
● Airtight lid prevents smelly air from escaping
● Dual refill compatible

Cons:

● More expensive than other models

Conclusion

Diaper pails are not the most glamorous products in the world, and they aren’t even strictly necessary. My wife and I never knew about them when we were raising our kid, and he’s out of diapers now already. But if you’re in the market for a diaper pail, these are the best of the ebst. I hope you found what you’re looking for!

Top 10 Best Diaper Bags Reviews

I think I speak for most women when I say that the last thing I want to be carrying around in my purse is a changing pad and spare diapers. Baby wipes are one thing; Huggies are another.

That’s why there exists this thing called diaper bags. They’re basically a handbag that’s designed for carrying baby wares. They aren’t strictly for diapers, either.

If you’re breastfeeding as a working mother, chances are you’re familiar with breast pumps. But they’re not the sort of thing you can leave at work on the weekend, and they’re rather clumsy to haul around.

So diaper bags aren’t just for diapers. They are designed to carry everything your baby needs. Many of them even have special insulated holders to keep your breast milk warm/cool.

Maybe you’re here because you’re new to parenting and you don’t have a clue how to shop for these things. Maybe you’ve had a bad experience with a subpar product and need a better recommendation.

Whatever your reasons for coming here, I’m happy you decided to join me as I discuss the ten best diaper bags on the market.

Things to Consider

There are a few things you need to keep in mind before buying a baby bag. Things like material, roominess and general comfort are all important to keep in mind, but there are other things to consider as well. Here are five points to mull over as you weigh your options.

1. Comfort

When it comes to a diaper bag, comfort is paramount. Whether you wear it for a ten minute elevator ride or a three-hour stroll through the park, you don’t want something that’s digging into your shoulders and making you miserable.

2. Storage

Another critical element to a diaper bag. It doesn’t matter how cute or how comfortable a bag is if it doesn’t have the room to store all the things you need it to. Everyone has different expectations, so there’s no surefire answer here, but it’s always better to have too much room than too little.

3. Material

One of the things that separates a good bag from a great bag is what it’s made out of. Is it stain resistant? Does it clean up easily if there’s a spill – from breast milk or anything else? This is a little more important for back-pack style diaper bags, but it’s something to consider here as well.

4. Style

Fashion isn’t important to everyone. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of women with new children aren’t overly concerned with looking their best. Try to remember that you’ll likely be using this bag for several years. Make it worth your while.

5. Price

Diaper bags typically vary anywhere from $20-$100, although you might end up paying a little bit more for a more designer-oriented bag. The good news is they’re not nearly as expensive as a purse.

10. Jewel Woods Planet Wise Wet Diaper Bag

Maybe you’re on a tight budget, or maybe you just really want a diaper bag with zero frills and a minimum of fuss. If simple is what you’re looking for, than I’ve got just the diaper bag for you. The Jewel Woods Planet Wise Diaper Bag is really simple – it’s really just one large 17 x 21 inch single-compartment bag. But it gets a lot of little things right.

First off, the design is simply adorable. The exterior of the bag is populated by a colorful woodland scene, with flowers, trees, squirrels, bunnies and foxes. The materials are also high quality. The outside of the bag is made with cotton, and the interior of the bag a waterproof fabric. The bag is also treated with anti-microbial elements to fight off bacteria. And because the bag is cotton, it can be machine washed and dried.

There are a couple of downsides to a simplified design. There aren’t a lot of compartments for organizing, and there aren’t any bottle holders either. But the design is adorable and the price affordable, and that’s good enough for me.

Pros:

● Large size measuring 17 x 21 inches
● Adorable woodland design
● Machine washable materials

Cons:

● Only one compartment

9. Skip Hop Duo Signature Carry All Travel Diaper Bag Tote

The next diaper bag on our list isn’t nearly as cute, but it’s got a lot more going for it in terms of side compartments. The Skip Hop Duo Signature diaper bag offers a simple Charlie-Brown-T-shirt aesthetic, and provides plenty of room for your baby care needs.

Measuring 13 x 13.75 inches, the bag isn’t nearly as large as the Jewel Woods bag, but it’s a lot easier to organize. It has four exterior multipockets and seven interior compartments, so you can fit all the basics and keep important things separate for easier finding. The bag includes two elastic mesh holders that should fit water and baby bottles, but they aren’t insulated.

The strap is functional, but not overly comfortable. It’s one of the biggest ways where the low price really makes itself obvious. The bag is BPA- and Phthalate-free, and includes a cushioned changing bad. It’s neither the best-looking nor the best-made diaper bag, but it’s very good quality for the price.

Pros:

● Eleven different compartments for efficient storage
● Includes two water bottle holders
● Attractive design

Cons:

● Strap isn’t very comfortable

8. Diaper Bag by Hip Cub

“Where fashion meets practicality.” That is the motto for the Hip Cub diaper bag, and it lives up to the hype pretty well. The design is simple, with thick vertical black and white stripes, but the elegant design and classy, purse-like handles make this a diaper bag to recommend.

One of the things I like about this bag is that it isn’t overly cutesy or feminine, so most men shouldn’t feel uncomfortable using it. It has plenty of pockets, including two side pockets, two internal compartments and two holders for bottles. The bag measures 13.5 x 14.5 inches, so it’s spacious without being cumbersome.

There is no warranty to speak of, but the bag does come with a 90-day money-back guarantee, so if you aren’t thrilled with the way it looks or how much room it affords, there’s no risk in trying it. The main problem with the bag is that the colors tend to fade after a while. That said, this is still a cute, practical diaper bag.

Pros:

● Seven compartments makes storage easy
● Includes two bottle holders
● Attractive, gender-neutral design

Cons:

● Colors tend to bleed after a while

7. Diaper Bag, Nappy Bag by Maman

The dual-purpose diaper/nappy bag by Maman is not the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen. The top half looks great, but the insulated lower half looks a little bulky. But this is a nice, large bag with plenty of space and even better, insulated bottle holders.

One of the main problems with cheaper diaper bags is that the bottle holders usually aren’t insulated. This might be fine for carrying a water bottle, but it’s no good for holding breast milk, at least for feeding purposes. Since the bottle holders are insulated, it keeps the breast milk up to temperature for a while, so if your baby gets hungry while you’re out, you’re covered.

The bag has plenty of space to store and organize, with 10 different pockets and compartments (including the bottle holders) to square everything away. The bag has several ways you can carry it as well, with hand straps, shoulder straps and stroller straps. This isn’t the best looking diaper bag by a mile, but it is large and is quite efficient.

Pros:

● Ten different pockets keep things organized
● Includes two bottle holders
● Bottle holders are insulated

Cons:

● Not very attractive design

6. Skip Hop Greenwich Simply Chic Diaper Bag

I’d consider it highly unlikely that you’d ever convince your husband to wear this rose-colored diaper bag out in public, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. The Simply Chic Greenwich diaper bag looks more like a purse than a diaper bag, so this is a great way to avoid a fashion faux pas.

Measuring 13 x 9.25 x 18 inches, this bag is quite large, and with nine pockets offers all the space you need for diapers, breast pumps, baby wipes, baby powder, a changing pad and any other accessories you might need. It’s made with vegan leather and includes a cushioned changing pad for convenience.

The main problem I have with this bag is that it doesn’t have a strap of any kind. It just has a standard handle – and not a very good one, I might add. The bag itself looks and feels great, and it’s definitely stain- and spill-resilient. But without a strap, it might be hard to juggle the bag and a baby as well.

Pros:

● Nine different pockets hold everything you need
● Made with beautiful vegan leather
● Cushioned changing pad included

Cons:

● Does not have any shoulder strap

5. Ju-Ju-Be Classic Collection: “Dancing Dahlias” B.F.F. Convertible Diaper Bag

Ju-Ju-Be specializes in designer diaper bags, and their “Dancing Dahlias” is no exception. In fact, this bag is downright gorgeous. The bag is adorned with cute, colorful flowers and is sure to earn you plenty of compliments.

The bag itself is on the smaller side. Measuring 14 x 12 x 6.5, this bag isn’t going to be large enough for everybody, so if you’re looking for a spacious container you’re best looking elsewhere. But there are plenty of compartments and pockets, including three zippered pockets, four gusseted pockets and two insulated bottle holders.

The bag is made with 100% polyester, is machine washable and has been treated with teflon to render it resistent to germs and bacteria. It’s smaller size and higher price may not be for everybody, but if you’re looking for a fashionable diaper bag, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Pros:

● Plenty of pockets and compartments for storage
● Machine washable polyester
● Gorgeous floral design

Cons:

● Bag is fairly small

4. Sarah Wells Lizzy Breast Pump Bag

The Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag is a gorgeous accessory. It is spacious has both long handles and a convenient shoulder strap and features an attractive design.

Although the bag is designed with portable breast pumps rather than diaper bags in mind, it is perfectly acceptable to use it for either purpose. The bag has several pockets and compartments for convenient storage, but the big draw here are the insulated breast milk pockets. These pockets can keep breast milk cool for up to six hours, making this an ideal bag for use at work.

Thanks to its refined, understated design, this bag isn’t going to attract any strange looks, and it’s comfortable to use as well. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have more compartments, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of this bag.

Pros:

● Features several compartments and pockets
● Insulated holders keep breast milk cool up to six hours
● Attractive, refined design

Cons:

● Could have more pockets

3. Ju-Ju-Be Legacy Collection: “The Heiress” B.F.F. Convertible Diaper Bag

I talked about “The Heiress” diaper bag from Ju-Ju-Be briefly in the editor’s pick. Like the “Dancing Dahlias,” this is a gorgeous, refined designer diaper bag from a company that specializes in making attractive accessories.

Like the “Dancing Dahlias,” this bag enjoys a floral design theme, but it’s quieter and more understated, making this an even more refined bag. Like the previous bag, it features a good number of pockets and compartments both internal and external, as well as two insulated exterior bottle holders.

Like all Ju-Ju-Be bags, this is backed by a limited lifetime warranty, which is unusual for diaper bags. If you like the quality and reputation of Ju-Ju-Be but are looking for a more subtle design, “The Heiress” is an excellent choice.

Pros:

● Plenty of pockets and compartments for storage
● Machine washable polyester
● Gorgeous floral design

Cons:

● Bag is fairly small

2. Sarah Wells “Abby” Breast Pump Bag

One of the things Sarah Wells bags excel at is making diaper bags and breast pump bags that fit perfectly at ease with your handbag collection. The Sarah Wells “Abby” bag is no exception. It boasts an innovative design that features major compartments on both the top and side of the bag, making it super easy to stay organized.

The bag is made out of pure nylon, inside and out, and is easy to clean. IT has real leather shoulder straps as well as a cross-body strap. It features thermally lined pockets for your breast milk on both sides of the purse, as well as other nifty pockets and evelopes to hold credit cards and other small items. At 16.8 x 15 inches, it’s large enough to carry diapers, a breast pump and even a laptop all at once.

The bag is available in three different designs: black, navy blue, and white-and-blue stripes. Thanks to its discreet design, no one will ever guess you’re carrying a breast pump inside, which makes it an ideal choice for professional women. The price is a little high, but the quality of the diaper bag is top notch.

Pros:

● Made with 100% nylon
● Available in three different designs

Cons:

● Bag is somewhat expensive

1. Ju-Ju-Be Coastal Collection Newport

Ju-Ju-Be never fails to deliver an excellent product, and their Newport Coastal Collection is their best bag yet, making it an excellent way to round out our reviews. With three large main pockets, this is one of the largest and most versatile diaper bags on the market.

Like all Ju-Ju-Be diaper bags, the Newport Collection is treated with Teflon to protect the outer fabric, and features inner linings with anti-microbial protection and two insulated bottle pockets. In addition to its three main pockets, it also has seven smaller minor pockets and a “mommy” pocket to hold all of your personal effects.

The Newport is backed by a 90-day guarantee, so if you’re not satisfied with the bag, returning it is simple and easy. Like all Ju-Ju-Be bags, this is an excellent product. It’s a little more expensive than other Ju-Ju-Be bags, but its larger size makes it well worth the investment.

Pros:

● Ten different pockets for easy storage
● Comes with anti-microbial protection
● Includes two insulated bottle holders

Cons:

● Bag is somewhat expensive

Of course, a baby glider swing is good for a lot more than soothing an unhappy infant. Glider swings are perfect for keeping your baby safe and secure while you’re running errands through the house, especially when your child is too young to crawl.

Many glider swings have different features to keep your baby happy and engaged while they’re sitting, such as lights, sounds or mobile toys. These are good because they help stimulate your child’s mental development and keeps them entertained while you cook, clean or take a well-earned nap.

Like every other baby product in existence, there are more baby glider swings on the market than you could ever imagine. We’ve rounded up and reviewed the best ones here, so you can spend less time shopping around and more time doing the things that really matter.

What You Should Know

You might have a lot of questions to ask about a baby glider swing. What do you actually need in a glider swing? Which features are mandatory, and which ones optional? These are good questions to consider. You can’t keep your baby in her crib 24/7 and you may not be able to carry her in a baby carrier while you’re making dinner.

Here are five things you should keep in mind before, including safety harnesses, frames, power system and special features. Knowing what features you do and don’t want will help guide you towards a glider swing that fits your budget.

1. Safety Harness

Your baby’s safety takes priority, and any glider swing that doesn’t have one should be ruled out immediately. The best are five-point harnesses, as these secure your child’s body in an even way, keeping your child more secure and more comfortable.

2. Control Bar

A glider swing doesn’t swing on its own momentum. Most of them work on battery power, and the best models have a simple control bar on the side that allows you activate the swing on and off. Depending on the particular model, the controls may activate lights and sounds as well. Some glider swings are battery-powered while others come with an AC adapter.

3. Weight Limit

A glider swing is carrying precious cargo; you want to make sure it’s up to the task. Some frames just aren’t very trustworthy, and others are only stable if your baby is under a certain weight. Babies don’t weigh the same, so always check the recommended weight limit and don’t exceed it.

4. Toys

Some gliders come with felt or plush toys to keep your child entertained. These toys may have lights and they can often be removed, so if your boy is particularly enamored with a particular toy. Of course, you can always give your baby a toy you already own as well.

5. Price

One of the good things about baby glider swings is that there isn’t a huge variation in cost. Cheaper models tend to run between $60 and $70, and even the most expensive are only around $200. That means if you want to save money by buying a cheaper model, you don’t have to worry too much about sub-par quality.

10. Graco Glider Lite Baby Swing, Finch

I don’t know why, but there aren’t a lot of companies that make baby glider swings. There are a handful of models by Fisher-Price and other companies, but the lion’s share of glider swings are made by Graco. One of their most affordable models is their Finch Glider Lite Baby Swing.

The Finch glider swing works by mimicking the gentle cradling motions of a parent rocking a baby in their arms. The glider swing is lined with a soft, thick, plush filling that’s both comfortable and relaxing. The Finch glider swing has six different cradling motions, making it easier for you to find the right setting for your baby’s mood, whether you’re playing with her, trying to calm her down or just want to lull her to sleep.

In addition to its different glide settings, the Finch glider swing also comes with a variety of sounds to sooth and entertain your baby. Ten classical melodies are programmed into the glider, as well as five different nature sounds. In addition, a couple of plush stars hang from the handle of the glider for your baby to play with.

The glider weighs just eight pounds, so it’s easy to move it from one room to another. The glider can run on batteries or be plugged into an outlet or off of an AC adapter, and it is recommended for babies from five to 25 pounds. The only real problem with the glider is that the bar with the stars has to be removed before you can take your baby in or out of it.

Pros:

● Six different glide settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Lightweight and portable

Cons:

● Overhead bar is a clunky design

9. Ingenuity ConvertMe Ridgedale Swing-2-Seat

The Ingenuity ConvertMe glider swing is one of only two models here that isn’t from Graco. There are a lot of things I like about this glider swing, and a few I don’t. It’s bright and happy, and the little lion that hangs from the bar at the top is really cute. The polka dots that cover the lining are cheerful as well.

The ConvertMe gets its name from the way it collapses down for storage and travel, and also because that same design lets you switch between a swing to a vibrating seat. In addition to five different gliding settings, the swing glider features eight built-in melodies and three different nature sounds.

Your baby’s safety is important, which is why this glider swing has an five-point safety harness. The glider has three swing timers, at 30, 45 and 60 minutes. The glider weighs nine pounds and folds flat, and is appropriate for babies form 5 to 25 pounds. It runs on 4 D batteries.

As I mentioned in the beginning, there are a few things I don’t like about this glider swing. It’s mostly made out of plastic and it honestly feels a little flimsy. I don’t know how long it would last, but since your baby is likely to grow out of it in a year or so, that may be all the time you need.

Pros:

● Five different glide settings
● Includes eleven different tunes and sounds
● Lightweight and portable

Cons:

● Plastic frame looks and feels cheap

8. Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing, Abbington

The design of the Graco Abbington Simple Sway baby swing is a marked departure from the last two glider swings. True to its name, this glider swing puts more emphasis on the swinging motion than on a gentle glide. Like the others, it’s also designed to be compact enough for any size of room.

One of the things I like about the Abbington Simple Sway is how easy it is to get your baby in and out. Unlike the other two models, where the mobile dangled from a bar that always seemed to be in the way, the Abbington is designed so that you don’t have to partially disassemble it just to put your child in. It has six swinging speeds and two vibration settings, as well as ten different songs and five nature sounds.

Like the Graco Finch, the Abbington can run off of batteries or be plugged in to save money. It has a supportive lumbar headrest to keep baby’s head elevated in a safe and comfortable position. Unfortunately, some people reported that it doesn’t always keep their baby’s head in the right position, but you can always add additional cushioning to support them.

The glider swing is a little heavier, weighing 19 pounds, and is recommended for infants from 5 to 30 pounds. If not plugged into the wall, it requires five D-cell batteries.

Pros:

● Six different swing settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Compact design perfect for any size room

Cons:

● Headrest support could be better

7. Graco Glider LX Gliding Swing, Affinia

The Graco LX Affinia gliding swing shares a lot of features in common with their other models, such as pre-programmed music and nature sounds. However, there are a couple of ways where the Affinia model differs distinctively from the other gliders listed on this review.

The most significant and notable difference is how well the glider swing supports your baby’s neck and body. It’s designed to really hold your baby in place, which is very important for small children that can’t support their own neck yet. The soft padded material is ideal for cradling your infant and making them feel comfortable. As an added bonus, it has a really cute mini mobile with two adorable, plush bears for your child to play with.

Like other Graco models, this glider swing has two vibrating settings, six different swinging speeds and a combination of 15 songs and nature sounds. It’s suitable for an infant from 5.5 to 30 pounds and works with D-cell batteries or an AC adapter. This is a little more expensive than other glider swings, but the added comfort and support are worth it, even if most of the other features are the same.

Pros:

● Six different swing settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Excellent support for head and neck

Cons:

● Sometimes makes an annoying clicking noise

6. Fisher-Price 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soother

The Fisher-Price 4-in1 Rock ‘n Glide is the only other swing glider on this list that isn’t Graco. The most distinctive feature on this glide swinger is its over-sized base stand. This helps with the balance, keeping the glider more secure and less likely to tip over.

One of the things I liked about this glider swing was its padding. The seat is generously cushioned, including a special headrest to keep your baby’s neck propped up until they’re old enough to support it themselves. It has a secure five-point strap and a cute miniature mobile as well.

It seems to me that 12 tunes and 3 nature sounds come standard with glider swings, regardless of brand. I expected there to be a big difference between this and the Graco models, but there really wasn’t. The tunes themselves are different, of course, but this glider has the same number of sounds as all of the others so far.

While this was one of the coziest and most supportive glider swings, it doesn’t function as well mechanically as the Graco models, so it’s a trade-off. The Graco gliders glide better, but the Fisher-Price model is more secure.

● Six different swing settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Excellent support for head and neck

Cons:

● Not the greatest mechanical quality

5. Graco Glider Elite Baby Swing, Pierce

The Graco Pierce Glider Swing is one of my absolute favorite Graco gliders. It offers a compact, modern, stylish design that is hard to beat. Its economical design takes up 40% less space than a standard swing glider, making it small enough for you to use it in almost any room.

Another highlight of the Graco Pierce is that it is two different products in one. It functions as a glider for babies weighing 5 to 30 pounds, and it also works as a bouncer for younger babies under 20 pounds. When the glider is converted to the bouncer mode, it also has a simple carry handle to make it easier to transport your child with you from room to room without having to remove them from the comfort of their seat.

The glider is designed to run on battery power, or it can be plugged into the wall to save money. It has a cozy seating area and a secure five-point harness. It also has a removable canopy with two adorable, dangling polar bears. The glider plays ten classical melodies, 5 different nature sounds, has six glider speeds and a timer to help you save power. I wasn’t a big fan of the nature sounds, as they are very brief loops, but otherwise this is a solid product.

Pros:

● Six different glide settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Can be used as a glider or jumper

Cons:

● Nature sounds get repetitive very quickly

4. Graco DuetSoothe Swing and Rocker, Winslet

Like most products, the Graco DuetSoothe Swinger and Rocker has a number of good qualities, coupled with a few that are less than desirable. On the whole, I think the DuetSoothe is a fine glider, but it’s not for everyone.

Let’s start with the positives. Nobody makes glider swings the way Graco does. There are other brands out there, but Graco has the market cornered in terms of diversity and, arguably, quality. Like the Graco Pierce, the DuetSoothe doubles up as a swing and a rocker, with the swing suitable for babies up to 30 pounds and the rocker for babies up to 25 pounds. The glider has three seating positions, three soft mobile toys, comfortable padding and a five-point safety harness.

Having said that, there are a couple points that turned me off of this model a little bit. The first is the base. Because of its dual functions, it has a somewhat different base than a standard glider. However, I don’t think its as effective as a standard glider swing. The second problem is the mobile. The attachment is very bulky and awkward looking. I know that this is really a non-issue, but for some reason I couldn’t get past it.

Neither of those faults are reasons not to recommend this swing rocker, however. This isn’t my favorite Graco swing, but it’s a quality product, overall.

Pros:

● Three different seat settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Can be used as a swing or rocker

Cons:

● Unattractive design

3. Graco Glider Elite, Sylvia

Like the Graco Pierce glider swing, the Graco Sylvia Glider Elite doubles as a bouncer, making this an effective purchase for your baby. It also shares the efficient and economical design of the Graco Pierce, which means you can fit this glider into almost any room.

In fact, as near as I can tell, the Graco Sylvia and the Graco Pierce are almost identical to one another. The two gliders have a different color scheme, and the cute polar bears of the Graco Pierce are replaced with pretty pink flowers in the Sylvia. Like the previous slider, it has three reclining positions, six glider speeds and 15 melodies and nature sounds.

Since this glider and the Pierce glider are so similar, the only real reason to choose one or the other is the color and the mobile toys. The Pierce is aimed at boys and the Sylvia at girls, but whichever you choose, you’re getting a quality product, although the sounds are definitely repetitive.

Pros:

● Six different glide settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Can be used as a glider or jumper

Cons:

● Nature sounds get repetitive very quickly

2. Graco Glider LX Gliding Swing, Peyton

The Graco Peyton Glider Swing is another solid entry for Graco. Its compact, modern, stylish design is on par with the best Graco gliders. It takes up 40% less room than a standard glider swing, and it can be used both as a glider and as a portable bouncer for babies less than 19 pounds.

The glider mode has a removable canopy that features two cute plush bears on an adjustable mobile. The glider has a five-point safety harness, six glide settings and comes programmed with 15 different nature sounds and melodies. It can be run off of batteries or plugged into the wall where it’s convenient. The glider is rated for infants up to 30 pounds.

The bouncer is for smaller babies, and it comes complete with an easy-carry handle to make it easier to keep your precious child with you wherever you go. Like a lot of Graco glider swings, the sounds could be improved, but there’s an easy way around that: just don’t use them. All in all, this is a solid glider swing.

Pros:

● Six different glide settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Can be used as a glider or jumper

Cons:

● Sounds are of low quality

1. Graco DreamGlider Gliding Swing and Sleeper, Pery

Like most of Graco’s high-end gliders, the DreamGlider is more than just a gliding swing – it’s a sleeper as well. While this is in no way a substitute for a crib, it does offer parents a place to put their little ones to rest for a while.

Because this is a sleeper, the seating area is not stationary, but can be positioned either as a seat with a three-point harness or as a sleeper that lies horizontally and has deeper walls. This combination is a great fit for anyone who lives in an apartment or has otherwise limited room, as it reduces the number of baby products you need to buy.

Like other Graco gliders, this gliding swing has six glide settings, 15 melodies and nature sounds and a charming mobile with three small plush owls. Adjusting the glider is easy and can be done with the simple touch of a lever. This isn’t the cheapest glider swing on the market, but its dual-mode function helps it to stand out from all the rest.

Pros:

● Six different glide settings
● Includes fifteen different tunes and sounds
● Can be used as a glider or sleeper

Cons:

● Sounds are of low quality

Conclusion

After a while, all of these different glider swings start to look the same, which can make it a challenge for discerning parents to know what to look for and what to stay away form. Hopefully these reviews have helped you find the right glider swing for your child. Good luck!

Top 10 Best Convertible Baby Crib Reviews

Portable crib or convertible crib? That is one of the giant questions every parent has to figure out when they’re expecting. It’s possible to have both, but it’s also important to know the differences.

Convertible cribs are also sometimes called stationary cribs. They are designed to grow and adapt with your baby by converting into larger beds as the baby grows to a toddler. Some of them have drawers or changing stations built into the crib; others do not.

Of course, a convertible crib does not guarantee that your child won’t grow faster than the crib can convert, but in general, they are a good way to prepare for the future.

Portable cribs, also known as mini cribs, are designed to be more compact so as to move easier. They often have wheels and will generally fold for easy transport. These are ideal for parents who frequently move their crib from the nursery to the parent’s room, a grandparents house, or for travel purposes.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of different makes and models of the convertible crib. Wading through all of that can be daunting, especially for first-time parents. We’ve created this guide to help you find smart choices without all the shopping around, providing you with all the information you need to make a good purchase for your new arrival.

If you are interested in information regarding portable cribs, we have a guide for that as well.

Things to Consider

Not all convertible cribs are the same. Far from it, in fact! There are three-in-one, four-in-one and five-in-one models. Some have built-in drawers, changing stations and other features. With so many different things to remember, here are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Versatility

The number one reason to buy a convertible crib is that of its ability to transform from a crib into something else. Pay attention to the different possible conversions a convertible crib can make.

2. Additional Accessories

On the flip side of versatility is the fact that convertible cribs don’t always include the conversion rails or mattresses needed to make the conversion. It’s up to you how much of a difference that makes.

3. Size

It’s important for you to figure out how much room you’ll have in your nursery and what furniture and accessories you intend to keep in theirs. Will you need a drawer and a changing station? A bin for her toys? Know how much room you have before you order the crib.

4. Design

There is a lot of aesthetic differences between different cribs. Some of them are more decorative than others. They also come in several colors, such as espresso and white. Consider what styles and colors would fit in best with your nursery. Also, remember that it’s easier to paint a white crib than a brown one.

5. Price

Unfortunately, so many things in life come down to how much we can afford. If you have a modest budget, it may not be a good idea to push it too far. By the same token, the crib is going to be your child’s bed for his formative years. It’s not something you want to skimp on.

10. Dream On Me, Classic 2 in 1 Convertible Crib

Dream On Me Classic Convertible CribDream On Me is one of the biggest names in affordable cribs. As such, this classic two-in-one convertible crib is the first of three of their cribs we recommend.

This is a very nice crib for the price, and it comes in four attractive finishes such as cherry wood. It comes with removable locking wheels, and it has three different mattress support levels to suit your baby’s development. The style is simple but attractive, and at just 36 pounds, this is a very lightweight crib.

However, there is one thing that is misleading. The Amazon page for this crib describes it as a three-in-one crib, but it is only a two-in-one. It converts to a toddler day bed but makes no other conversions.

9. Dream On Me 4 in 1 Aden Convertible Mini Crib

Dream On Me Aden Convertible Mini CribI promised you more Dream On Me cribs, and I wasn’t lying. This attractive crib converts from a mini crib into a toddler daybed and eventually into a twin-size bed (with or without the foot board). Bedding and the twin size frame are not included but are available for purchase separately.

One of the reasons convertible cribs are so popular is because they grow with your child on their journey to adulthood. This convertible crib features three different height settings before finally resting on the floor when your toddler is ready for it. Eight different finishes are available, and this crib weighs a surprisingly light 20 pounds.

If you’re looking for a convertible crib on a budget, this is probably your best bet. It’s slightly more expensive than the last Dream On Me, but I think it’s worth it.

8. Dream On Me Liberty 5-in-1 Convertible Crib

Dream On Me Liberty Convertible CribOur third and final Dream On Me entry, this model converts from a crib to a daybed, toddler bed, and full-size twin bed, with or without the foot board. The bed frame and mattress are not included. The toddler and full-size rails are also sold separately.

This is a lot like the last Dream On Me model. It offers one further layer of conversion but in most other respects is very similar. This isn’t a bad thing, however. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I do wish they included all the railings, however. I understand that this is designed as a budget crib, but I wouldn’t mind paying for them now and not have to worry about hunting for them five years from now.

The crib comes with five different options for finish. It is a very nice crib that looks good and is affordable. I personally preferred the four-in-one because I thought it offered most of the same features for somewhat less, but either way, this is a solid investment towards the future.

  • Measures 54.5 L x 35 W x 38 H

7. Delta Children Emery 4-in-1 Crib

Delta Children Emery CribDelta Children is another major producer of children’s cribs, and their four-in-one convertible is a fine example of a classically-influenced design that offers convenient options for the future.

This crib converts into a toddler daybed, a toddler bed, and a full-size bed. While toddler daybed support is included, toddler guardrails and crib conversion rails are not included in this purchase. Assembly was fairly easy, and it comes with a three-way adjustable mattress.

While this is somewhat more expensive than Dream On Me’s entries, I feel like the construction was a little more solid, and I really liked the aesthetic design of this one. It is also very reasonably priced.

6. Stork Craft Davenport 5-in-1 Convertible Crib with Drawer

Stork Craft Davenport Convertible Crib with DrawerStorks no longer deliver babies, as we all know, but apparently, they do build convertible cribs. I’m kidding, of course, but Stork Craft makes a very fine convertible crib that is at once attractive, functional and convenient.

This crib converts to a toddler bed, daybed and full-size bed with optional foot rails, and include a convenient two-compartment drawer to store baby-related paraphernalia. The bed is made of solid construction and comes with a one-year warranty. As usual, the guardrails, mattresses and full-size bed frames are sold separately.

What really sets this Davenport convertible crib apart from the competition for me is the inclusion of the drawer. My wife loves drawers in everything, and when we bought our crib several years ago, we bought a model that had drawers. It’s very convenient, and it provides some much-needed storage space in the nursery without adding any additional furniture.

5. DaVinci Emily Mini 2-in-1 Convertible Wood Baby Crib

DaVinci Emily Mini Convertible Wood Baby CribI have deduced that the use of New Zealand pine must raise the value of furniture, as the two-in-one conversion of this model seems like a step back from the previous cribs on this list. It makes a lot of sense because New Zealand pine is a very high-quality wood.

What doesn’t make any sense to me is the conversion of this crib. It converts from a mini crib to a twin size bed. There’s nothing wrong with that conversion, but it seems to me that the logical conversion would be from a crib to a toddler bed or daybed.

This doesn’t detract from the quality of the crib in any way. It is a beautiful crib that is tall enough to keep babies safe no matter which of the four heights you set it. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the crib, but the conversion still baffles me.

4. Graco Solano 4-in-1 Convertible Crib with Drawer

Graco Solano Convertible Crib with DrawerI mentioned not long ago that I like drawers, so I was quite pleased to find that this crib also included a drawer at the base, perfect for storing clothing, bedding and other essentials.

The crib converts to a toddler bed, daybed, and full-size bed. Guard rails and bedding are not included. The crib has three different heights for your crib mattress, and the crib is available in espresso and white finishes.

There isn’t much to say about this crib that I haven’t already said about others. The primary difference here is the quality of the construction, as well as the one-year warranty that comes with the crib. The crib is very well built, and the inclusion of the drawer makes it a great bargain. That said, I prefer the design of the five-in-one Davenport crib that also includes a drawer. That is a matter of taste, of course.

  • Measures 55.9 L x 29.7 W x 41.6 H
  • Four-in-one conversion

3. DaVinci Jayden 4-in-1 Convertible Crib with Toddler Rail

DaVinci Jayden Convertible Crib with Toddler RailMost convertible cribs can charge lower prices by selling the rails and frames necessary for the conversions separately. What I like to abut this crib is that it includes the toddler rails. This makes a lot of sense to me, as a child is going to grow out of their crib in just a year or two, and already having the rails on hand saves a lot of hassle.

The crib offers four adjustable mattress levels to accommodate your child as they grow. The assembly is a cinch, and the hardware is kept out of sight, so the crib looks as nice as possible. The crib is made out of New Zealand pine and is very reasonably priced

This is a very good crib at a fair price. The inclusion of the toddler rails in particular definitely makes it worth the asking price.

Like many of the other cribs, this too features three levels of adjustment to match your baby’s growth. This crib is available in three different finishes so it can suit almost any nursery. Besides being a solid investment, it is an absolutely gorgeous piece of furniture that will raise the bar for the entire house.

1. Stork Craft Portofino 4-in-1 Fixed Side Convertible Crib and Changer

Stork Craft Portofino Fixed Side Convertible Crib and ChangerThere’s a pretty large jump in price between the last crib and this one, but there is a very good reason for that: this crib includes an attached changing station.

Like most four-in-one convertible cribs, this transforms from a full-size crib into a day bed, toddler bed and full-size bed. It includes a waterproof changing pad and like most other cribs offers three adjustable mattress levels.

When converting the crib, the attached changing station detaches and becomes a nightstand, adapting with your child like the rest of the crib. In addition to everything else, this is a gorgeous piece of furniture that will make a graceful addition to your nursery.

Before I had my son, I had no idea it could be so difficult. Then I discovered that there are convertible cribs, portable cribs, travel cribs and probably some others I don’t know about. It’s exhausting!

What is the difference between a convertible crib and a portable crib anyway? Well, a portable, or mini, the crib is designed to be easier to transport. They often have removable wheels, and in many cases can be folded for easier storage.

Convertible cribs, also known as stationary cribs, are designed to be more transitional. They are built so that as your baby grows, the crib will grow with them, turning into a toddler bed, doubling up as a changing station, etc.

My wife and I did eventually find a great crib for our baby, but it took a while. This guide has been created to help you find the best portable cribs on the market. If you are interested in convertible cribs or Pack’n’Play, I’ve put together a guide on the best options for those as well.

Being a parent is challenging. Shopping shouldn’t have to be.

Things to Consider

While searching for your crib, there are some things to remember. Most of these features are going to be available in any portable crib, but this also provides you with a simple frame of reference should you wish to do your own research.

1. Wheels

Most, if not all, mini portable cribs come with wheels. The wheels are one of the primary components in a portable crib. It’s also important for the wheels to be able to lock in place and/or be removed so that the crib can sit in one place. All portable cribs should have locking wheels, but how well those locks work is another matter.

2. Size

The size of the crib is another important concern. Whether your crib is going in your room or a dedicated nursery, you need to know how much space you’ll have available for a crib. Use that to determine the appropriate size of a crib to buy. You don’t want to have to return a crib because it’s too large or too small.

3. Design

For many parents, the design or appearance of a crib is very important. If you want a really fashionable crib, by and large, your best bet is going to be a convertible crib rather than a portable one. Even so, some portable cribs look better than others.

4. Mattress

A lot of cribs will come with a mattress included; others will not. This can be something to consider. You should also consider the quality of the mattress. Pre-shipped mattresses may not be all that great, so you should consider buying a mattress separately.

5. Price

Portable cribs are generally cheaper than standard cribs, but they can still vary in price by several hundred dollars. Remember that when preparing for a baby, you have a lot of expenses to prepare for. At the same time, you don’t want to buy a cheap crib and end up with a product you’re not satisfied with. Finding a good balance can be challenging.

Singling out a single crib as the pick of the litter was a challenging task, as some of these cribs varied dramatically from each other. However, we felt that the LA Baby Little Wood Crib offered the best balance of durability, quality, and economy.

  • Beautiful, durable hardwood construction
  • Locking wheels can be removed for added durability
  • Folds flat for easy storage
  • Comes with a mattress pad
  • Measures 39.5 L x 26.5 W x 38.5 H

10. Delta Children Portable Mini Crib

Delta Children Portable Mini CribDelta Children’s Portable Mini Crib is a good choice for an inexpensive folding crib. Its lightweight design makes it easier to move, and it folds completely flat, allowing for convenient transport. It has wheels that enable it to be moved from one room to another without folding.

The crib measures 39 inches long by 25 inches wide and stands just over three feet tall at 37.25 inches. It is made out of wood and features stationary front and back rails. Delta Children don’t recommend using a different mattress, which isn’t something I was wild about.

The crib comes in three different colors: white, cherry and natural. It is certified to meet safety standards, and the crib has two adjustable height positions. This isn’t an amazing crib, but if you’re on a budget, it’ll do. Free replacement parts are provided, which is nice.

  • Measures 39 L x 25 W x 37.25 H
  • Includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 34.4 pounds

9. DaVinci Alpha Mini Rocking Crib

DaVinci Alpha Mini Rocking CribThe DaVinci Alpha was very similar to the Delta Children crib, but it is definitely not a copy. In fact, I liked this one just a little bit better.

Measuring 38 x 26 x 35, it’s roughly the same size as the Delta Children mattress. One of the big differences is that this mattress has four adjustable heights, rather than two. I liked this because it means I could have the mattress closer to the top of the crib, so I didn’t have to reach down as far to pick up my baby (actually a doll, as my son is too big to fit in the crib). The crib doesn’t come with a mattress, but you have the option to add one one for just a handful of dollars.

Like the Delta Children portable, this crib is available in three different colors. The crib comes with wheels that can be removed for easy rocking, and the wheels lock so baby won’t go rolling away in the middle of the night. The difference in price between this and Delta Children is very small, and I personally preferred this one.

  • Measures 38 L x 26 W x 35.2 H
  • Includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 25.5 pounds

8. Dream On Me 2 in 1 Portable Folding Stationary Crib

Dream On Me 2 in 1 Portable Folding Stationary CribDream On Me is one of the biggest names in affordable children’s cribs, producing a variety of both portable and convertible cribs. This particular crib is a 2-in-1 model that can double as a playpen for the baby.

One thing I liked was that this is a nice-looking crib. Portable cribs aren’t always the prettiest to look at, and while this isn’t as nice as some stationary cribs, it isn’t ugly. It weighs 32 pounds and it folds flat, so it’s easy to move and store. It’s also quick and easy to convert into a playpen, which saves you money over buying separate furniture.

Like the last two cribs, it comes in three colors, including white. It has a stationary rail design and locking wheels. This is a good, inexpensive crib that has a couple of added features.

  • Measures 39 L x 5.8 W x 38 H
  • Includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 31.5 pounds

7. LA Baby Little Wood Crib

LA Baby Little Wood CribLA Baby is a very nice, sturdy crib that is available in black or unpainted natural wood. What I liked about this crib is how well-built and sturdy it is. It is very attractive, easy to assemble, and it folds for easy transport.

Although this crib is intended for industrial use in nurseries, day care, etc., I think it is perfectly suited for use at home as well. It is very attractive and easy to move around. However, there are a couple of things I didn’t like. The mattress level is not adjustable, which might bother some people. The other complaint is its weight. The crib weighs 50 pounds, so while it does fold for easy storage, carrying it is a burden.

Despite its weight, I think it is a fair trade-off for quality, solid wood construction. If only this crib allowed for an adjustable mattress height, it would be the perfect portable crib.

  • Measures 39.5 L x 26.5 W x 38.5 H
  • Includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 50 pounds

6. Dream On Me Full Size 2 in 1 Folding Stationary Side Crib

Dream On Me Full Size 2 in 1 Folding Stationary Side CribI return to Dream On Me with a larger mattress that fills accommodate your child as she continues to grow. In fact, this is really a hybrid portable/convertible crib, as it can transform into a daybed.

The assembly of the crib is simple, and all necessary tools are included with the purchase. It offers a one-time installation and folds for convenient storage when not in use. It also features locking wheels that can be removed when the crib is converted. The crib is available in six different colors.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is a full-sized crib. If you are looking for a smaller crib that will be a better fit for a tight apartment complex, this may be too large for you.

  • Measures 53.2 L x 29.2 W x 46 H
  • Includes a mattress pad

5. LA Baby Compact Non-folding Wooden Window Crib

LA Baby Compact Non-folding Wooden Window CribThe second crib from LA Baby, this one differs from the first in several ways. Most notably, the crib seems to be lacking in a railing. Rather than using wood rails, the crib uses acrylic panels on each end that allow baby to see the rest of the world more clearly while keeping him safely inside.

My primary complaint with the last LA Baby crib (other than its unavoidable weight) was that the mattress wasn’t adjustable. LA Baby rectified that with this model, and it can be adjusted to three different heights. Perhaps best of all, this crib includes a mattress that, while not super thick, will do the trick and help save you some money.

Unlike the other LA Baby crib, this one only comes with a natural finish. But that’s not a big deal, as the natural wood color is very attractive. If you can get past the unusual implementation of acrylic, this is a top-notch crib.

  • Measures 38.8 L x 26.2 W x 39.2 H
  • Includes a mattress
  • Weighs 43.6 pounds

4. Babyletto Origami Mini Crib

Babyletto Origami Mini CribMy wife loved this crib. She took one look at the baby blue (officially lagoon) paint and squealed with delight. Our son, of course, is much too big for this crib, but that’s neither here nor there. It comes in three other colors as well.

This crib is made out of pine taken from New Zealand pine and is painted with a non-toxic finish. It measures 39.1 x 25.6 and comes with a one-inch mattress pad. It has two different adjustable heights.

I have no complaints with this crib, but I also don’t really understand why it is so expensive. It doesn’t really offer anything that other cribs don’t for fifty dollars less. My guess is you’re paying for imported wood crib, and a cheerful finish, but if you really want a blue crib, a trip to the hardware store for paint is less expensive.

  • Measures 39.1 L x 25.6 W x 33.6 H
  • Includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 29 pounds

3. Orbelle Trading Roxy Three-in-One Portable Crib

Orbelle Trading Roxy Three-in-One Portable CribLike the last crib, this too is made of New Zealand pine, but in this case, I can understand the price, as this crib can convert into a playpen and also features a changing station built-in.

The crib features three different settings to adjust the mattress too, and the adjustment is designed to be easy to do without tools. Like other portable cribs, this folds down flat for easy storage. Unlike a lot of portable cribs, this also includes a mattress – yet another justification for its price.

I didn’t care much for the selection of colors. I prefer darker wood finishes like cherry or espresso, but that’s hardly a reason to complain. In short, this is an excellent crib that fulfills three services for parents in one. That in itself makes it worth its going price.

  • Measures 40 L x 25 W x 38 H
  • Includes a mattress
  • Weighs 42.8 pounds

2. Babyletto Maki Full-Size Folding Crib

Babyletto Maki Full-Size Folding CribThis is another full-size folding crib and the third in a row that is made from imported New Zealand pine. It’s a solid, well-made crib, but at 62 pounds is a little on the heavy side.

The crib features two different mattress levels, and the wheels are removable, making this a stationary crib. It folds down for easy storage, but it’s heavy and bulky enough that it would likely take two people to move it anywhere. Remember, this is a full-size model and as such might have trouble fitting into a small home or apartment.

I have no quarrels with this crib, but I feel like there are better options around the same price range. Nevertheless, you can’t go wrong with this crib, and it’s definitely large enough to support a growing baby for some time.

  • Measures 53.6 L x 29.4 W x 37.2 H
  • Does not includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 62 pounds

1. Bloom Alma Mini Urban Crib Frame

Bloom Ama Mini Urban Crib FrameThis is a very modern-looking mini crib that uses quite a lot of wood and is consequently pretty heavy.

Designed with the urban life in mind, this folding portable crib is designed to fit through narrow doorways while providing a year of sleeping room for your baby. Its thick wooden frame provides ample support for your child. It’s very easy to set up and doesn’t require any tools. It folds nicely for convenient storage.

While this is a very good crib, it is heavy, and the large volume of wood used in its construction means that it’s pretty expensive. While I have no complaints with it, its cost will likely be prohibitive for many parents.

  • Measures 37.2 L x 19.5 W x 32.8 H
  • Does not includes a mattress pad
  • Weighs 60 pounds

Conclusion

If you are expecting and want a crib that you can move from room to room easily, but need more support than a travel crib, you need a portable crib. The portable wood crib from LA Baby is as good of one as any since it folds up easily and has wheels for easy transport from the nursery to any other room. There are, of course, other popular options, such as the Dream On Me brand. Being a parent is stressful enough without worrying about where your infant is going to sleep. I hope this guide has helped you find the right crib for your new baby. Best of luck to you!

Top 10 Best Portable Travel (Pack n Play Playcard) Crib Reviews

Do you do a lot of traveling? Do you have a baby?

You do? In that case, you need a Pack’n’Play travel crib. Seriously.

Pack’n’Play cribs are a relatively new development in the crib department, and I can’t recommend them enough. Mini cribs are great, but they’re still fairly heavy and can be a pain in the butt to travel with. The portable travel cribs provide your baby with a safe place to hang out and play, and they’re so compact it’s amazing. Some of the travel cribs even have built-in mobiles!

Of course, the size and quality of these cribs can very greatly. That’s why we created this guide: to help navigate you through the process and make the best choice for your baby. Because being a parent is stressful enough without having to read a million reviews on Amazon.

If you want a quick guide to the best play yards crib on the market, you’ve come to the right place.

Things to Consider

Pack’n’Play travel cribs are an excellent choice for families on the go who don’t have nearby relatives or who don’t want to leave their kids in the care of a babysitter. Here are some things to consider while you shop for the best travel cribs.

1. Size

Travel cribs vary in size more than regular cribs. That means that some smaller travel cribs may not be a comfortable fit for bigger babies.

2. Material

Regular cribs are almost always made out of wood. That’s not necessarily the case with travel cribs. Most of them will be made out of breathable mesh, but some might use other materials. One of the things to watch out for here is potential baby allergies.

3. Accessories

One of the points of the Pack’n’Play cribs is that they’re not just cribs but playpens. After all, a baby doesn’t have access to their whole home when they’re traveling. Some cribs will have mobiles or other included toys. Others will include a portable changing station and other fun features.

4. Weight

One of the big appeals of having a travel crib is that its light enough to carry around easily when the baby isn’t in it. Weight doesn’t matter too much for most standard cribs, but it’s pretty important to keep in mind for a Pack’n’Play.

5. Price

It pretty much goes without saying that you’ll get a nicer travel crib if you pay a little bit more for it. Of course, a bigger price tag doesn’t necessarily guarantee a better product. Price should never be the primary concern for any purchase.

Picking out a favorite from this lineup was like searching for a needle in a haystack. It wasn’t quite as futile an exercise, however. Finally, we decided on the Lotus Travel Crib. Although it lacked some of the extra features found in other Pack’n’Plays, we felt it best exemplified everything to look for in a travel crib.

  • Sets up in just fifteen seconds
  • Packs up easily to be carried as a backpack
  • Soft, comfortable 42 x 24 mattress is perfect for sleeping
  • Big enough for babies and toddlers to play in

10. Graco Pack N Play Playard

Graco Pack 'n Play PlayardIf you are looking for quality, affordable Pack N Play Playard, Graco is the name to beat. Graco is the original designer of the new portable baby travel crib, and as such, they have a wide selection of great play yards.

The original Pack in Play, this particular model has a lot going for it, even if it is cheap. Breathing mesh sides are supported by a durable frame. The crib has two locking wheels that make it easy to transport, as well as two legs that provide added support when it is set up. The whole thing folds at the push of a button, and a handy carrying case is also included.

Honestly, even though this is among the cheapest and simplest models available, it’s easy to see why the Pack’n Play became so popular. The design is simple and intuitive, and the product is quite simply essential for the traveling parent(s) of young children. For many of you, this simple playard will be all you need.

9. Graco Pack ‘n Play Playard with Reversible Napper and Changer

Graco Pack 'n Play Playard with Reversible Napper and ChangerThis Pack ‘n Plat offers a very logical expansion to the original design and is only modestly more expensive. It has enough added features that for many parents it will be easily preferable.

There are three basic additions that set this playard crib apart from its predecessor. The first is a simple mobile to entertain your one one while they lay. The second is a reversible bassinet napper so tired baby can sleep easy. Finally, it has a built-in changing table, so you don’t have some gross, uncomfortable changing station in a nearby gas station.

There’s obviously a lot to like about this playard, but my favorite is the price. This is never going to replace your stationary crib at home, but its cheap enough that you’re not going to break the bank. Buy this. You won’t regret it.

8. Disney Sweet Wonder Play Yard

Disney Sweet Wonder Play YardMy wife is not a big fan of Disney, and she doesn’t allow our son to have Disney merchandise. (I made an exception for Winnie the Pooh.) But as soon as she saw this, she loved it.

There are two different versions of this very nice crib playard, although the differences are mainly aesthetic. There is a Minnie Mouse theme and a Mickey Mouse theme. Both of them have a mini mobile, though they feature different characters. The color scheme is also different, and there are some different decorations. They’re otherwise the same.

Like the last playard, this also has a bassinet for newborns, as well as a changing table that simply wipes clean. It also has a little organizing pouch on the outside for parents to store their little one’s toys. It has two wheels, four legs, and the sides are made of breathable mesh.

There isn’t a lot of difference between this playard and the last one. However, I like this one better just because the theme is so cute. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s not as easy to put away as the Graco models.

7. Graco Pack N’ Play Playard Jetsetter

Graco Pack N' Play Playard JetsetterThroughout my childhood, my dad took me and the rest of the family on camping trips. Mainly we went to California and Nevada, although we went to Utah once and possibly Oregon. (Dad and I did camp in Oregon when I was an adult.) They didn’t have playards back then, but if they did, Dad probably would have had this one.

If you are hiking, camping or just having a picnic by the creek, this is a great playard and crib. It packs up easily and folds into a little backpack that’s easy to carry, making it very convenient for a hike. It also includes a portable changing station, which packs up into a little pouch you can carry over your shoulder or on your belt. Also convenient.

Aesthetically, it resembles a little tent, and it even closes at the top. Breathable mesh walls keep your baby safe, and there’s plenty of room for them to crawl around and play in. There’s also a little nest bassinet for baby to sleep in.

If you’re the sort of person who likes the outdoors, this is definitely a playard to consider.

6. Graco Pack ‘N Play Playard Smart Stations

Graco Pack N Play Playard Smart StationsGraco strikes again with another great playard. This crib closely resembles another model, but with even more improvements.

Like many of the others, this playard includes a changing station that easily wipes clean when you’re done. Like the Disney Sweet Wonder, it also has a handy storage chamber with three different pouches, making it easy to store essentials and keep them separated. It has a removable hamper and a little baby bed with a cute star-spangled mobile to comfort baby as he falls asleep.

While this is ideal for travel, it’s also convenient for when you’re working around the house. Using this, you can always keep your infant close at hand and in your line of sight, even while you’re running errands around the house. This is a great playard and highly recommended.

5. Graco Oasis with Soothe Surround Technology Playard

Graco Oasis with Soothe Surround Technology PlayardThe fifth and final Graco product in this guide, the Graco Oasis crib just might be my favorite. It is very much like the Smart Stations in design and accessories, but it adds just one more amazing feature. The playard actually vibrates and plays soothing sounds such as raindrops, bells, and heartbeats, combining the two to lull your baby into a peaceful sleep.

In other respects, there are minor changes to the Smart Stations. The bassinet has been redesigned. The starry mobile is gone, replaced by a carriage-style bassinet cover that shields your little one from the light. The changing station and storage hamper were modified slightly but functionally unchanged. This is also a pretty large crib, more than big enough to handle your terrible two-year-old. I actually sent my son to time out in this playard.

I don’t want you to think that I’m product-pushing Graco because I’m not. I don’t work for Graco, and they haven’t paid for any endorsements. Simply put, their products are good enough that I can’t help but recommend them.

4. Lotus Travel Crib and Portable Baby Playard

Lotus Travel Crib and Portable Baby PlayardIn some ways, the Lotus Travel Crib feels like a step back from the last couple of Graco models, but that isn’t really fair. After all, though I failed to mention it, the last two playards weren’t particularly portable.

The Lotus does away with all the fancy accouterments and delivers a simple, portable playard experience. A true travel crib, this playard is layered with a soft foam mattress that offers toddlers a safe and comfortable place to lay down and sleep. It is also large enough for babies to crawl around and play in while you are busy with other activities. It can zip up fully closed, so your little one can’t crawl away, but clear mesh keeps their air fresh and lets you keep one eye on them at all times.

Sometimes more is less, and the Lotus Travel Crib is a fine example of that. It lacks the accessories of some of the other playards, but it doesn’t lack in essentials, and that’s what makes it a good product.

3. BABYBJORN Travel Crib Light

BABYBJORN Travel Crib LightBabyBjorn is known primarily for their baby slings and baby carriers, but they also make a competent travel crib.

This travel crib is perfect for the living room, hotel room or anywhere else you have to travel. It’s nearly four feet long, so it’s big enough for babies and toddlers alike. It has a completely open top and stands just two feet high. It is made of clear mesh and supported by metal poles, so you can always keep an eye on your child and make sure he’s safe.

This is a very nice travel crib, and it’s also lightweight, weighing only 13 pounds. If you can carry a screaming toddler up a flight of stairs, you can carry this to the car. It folds up into a simple travel suitcase, making it ideal for car rides to Grandma’s house.

  • Packs up into suitcase for easy transport
  • Lightweight design

2. Chicco Lullaby Glow Playard

Chicco Lullaby Glow PlayardThe Chicco Lullaby crib is more or less an adaptation of the Graco Oasis. In fact, the design is so similar that the inspiration is obvious.

Like the Oasis, this includes a changing station, bassinet and portable hamper as well as a playard, and it also sports wheels for easy mobility. Like the Graco Smart Stations, it has a mobile, and like the Oasis again it produces soothing sounds.

There’s one big difference here. The mobile uses color-changing LED lights to project starry skies onto the ceiling, and it plays nature sounds and lullabies to guide the baby to sleep.

As far as technology is concerned, this one takes the cake. As far as price is concerned, you’re paying a lot for only slight enhancements over another model. To be sure, this is a very nice playard, but it’s also expensive enough that many parents will think twice.

  • Breathable mesh
  • Plays soothing sounds and music
  • Includes changing station

1. 4Moms Play Yard

4Moms Play Yard4Moms is another company that specializes in selling high-end baby crib products for smart mothers (and fathers). The result is a large playard and bassinet that provides babies and toddlers with lots of room to grow and play.

Made from polyurethane with polyester mesh sides, this is a nice playard that lets you keep an eagle eye on your young ones while they frolic and play carefree. It is large enough to let your baby grow and durable enough to serve successive children.

Perhaps the best thing about this playard is how simple it is. You simply open the travel bag and unfold it, and it opens, ready to go. Apply pressure (when your kids aren’t in it), and it closes. It really is as simple as that.

This is not a cheap option. It is as expensive as many regular cribs, which is probably more than some families want or need. But if you can afford it, this is an excellent choice in a playard for your children.

Conclusion

Well, that’s a wrap. I know there’s a lot of options here, and some of them look very similar to the others. Hopefully, this guide helped you make some sense out of all the confusion and find the right travel crib for your baby. Whether you embraced the comfortable Lotus travel crib or opted to go high-tech with the Graco Oasis or Chicco Lullaby, you’ve made an excellent investment in your child.

Top 10 Best Nursery Glider Recliner Chair & Ottomans

When my wife and I were first expecting, I had no idea that a glider was required upholstery for the nursery. I guess that’s why baby registries are invented.

I didn’t have to make a decision on what ottoman to buy, as my mother-in-law took care of it for me. Since then, however, I have done a lot of research into the matter. Mainly because I didn’t understand why it was so important.

Are you faced with a similar sense of bewilderment as to the necessity of a particular type of furniture? Or are you completely overwhelmed by your options? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, you’ve come to the right place. The following guide will walk you through some of the best options on the market, helping you make an informed decision instead of an agonizing one.

Unless, of course, you end up agonizing over these ten choices, in which case I feel your pain.

Things to Consider

When it comes to furniture seating, I have one rule and one rule only: it has to be comfortable. I don’t care about matching colors or fashions or anything. As long as I can melt into the upholstery, I’m a happy man. Not everyone shares my carefree sentiments (my wife included), however, so here are five things you should keep in mind while shopping for a nursery glider.

1. Comfort

Yes, that’s right. While it’s always important for furniture to be comfortable, it’s especially important in this case because of the purpose of a glider. Simply put, the glider is there for the tired mother (or father, grandparent or other guardian figures) to relax and unwind with their baby in a comfortable setting before putting them to bed. If you try to do this in an unbearably uncomfortable glider, you will be sorely disappointed.

2. Assembly Required?

Most of these gliders are going to need some assembly before you can use them. Just how in-depth is this process going to be? How much will it cost to higher a professional to do your dirty work? These are just a few of the questions you need to be answered before you make your purchase, especially if you’re ordering online rather than at a traditional furniture store.

3. Color and Theme

Many parents carefully plan out their nurseries to fit a certain style or design. Do you have a specific theme or a master plan for your baby’s nursery? If yes, consider how each item of furniture would contribute or detract from your overall design.

4. Weight and Support

It is a good idea to know both how much your furniture will weigh and how much it can support. If a glider is particularly heavy, it will be harder to move should you decide to reconfigure your nursery. You should also know how much it can support. Most glider can support up to 250 pounds, but if you or a loved one is heavier than that, you will need stronger furniture.

5. Price

You’re not going to pay much less than $150 or $200 for a glider. However, you will likely have options that cost upwards of $500 or even $1000. How much can you afford to spend on a single item of furniture?

Not everyone has the time or the patience to spend hours searching for the perfect ottoman. You’re getting ready for a baby, after all, and for some of us, there are other, more important things to be concerned over. I, for one, didn’t even know this was a requirement.

So for all the expectant fathers (and mothers) like me, here’s our recommendation to make your preparations easier: the Graco-Parker Semi-Upholstered glider.

  • Glider comes with a nursing stool
  • Arms are fully upholstered
  • Plush microfiber cushions are easy to clean
  • Beautiful rubberwood material

10. Naomi Home Brisbane Glider & Ottoman Set

Naomi Home Brisbane Glider Ottoman SetI am not a furniture guru. I don’t care about style or fashion. My only concern is whether a piece of furniture is comfortable or not. The softer and plushier the cushions, the better. Since those are pretty much my only (personal) guidelines, I’d say this glider from Naomi Home met them all.

This is definitely not the nicest glider/ottoman set, but it is comfortable. The furniture is covered in polyurethane foam that is cozier than it sounds, and the color of the glider is a nice, comforting espresso. The glider can hold a weight of up to 250 pounds so that it can support most any parent and their child.

Assembly of the glider is required, although the necessary tool is provided. You can pay for expert assembly, however, and I suspect there’s more than one parent who would rather do just that than being forced to endure the stress of furniture assembly amid the expectations of childbirth.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Polyurethane upholstery

Cons:

  • Challenging assembly

9. Stork Craft Custom Hoop Glider and Ottoman

Stork Craft Custom Hoop Glider and OttomanOne of the great joys of decorating a nursery is the thrill of picking a color scheme and painting it. (I actually love painting my home.) One of the great challenges of decorating a nursery is the hunt for furniture that compliments your exotic choice.

That is why I love the Stork Craft Custom Hoop Glider. The cushions are available in eight different colors, including two variations each of pink and blue, as well as gray, chocolate, beige and yellow gingham. In addition, the wooden frame is available in half a dozen finishes that include white, cherry and espresso.

As far as the upholstery itself is concerned, the cushion is made from denim and is quite luxuriously plush and comfortable. Both the glider and the ottoman rock back and forth, and there are handy side pockets on the glider to store baby toys, chocolates for mommy or any other essentials you may wish to tuck away.

In short, this is a very comfortable chair with a lot of customization options available for a reasonable price. If you’re feeling the financial pressure of getting ready for your new arrival, this is a fantastic choice that won’t break the bank.

Pros:

  • 24 different color combinations
  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Denim upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Does not recline

8. Patio Chairs Baby Adjustable Glider Rocker and Ottoman

Patio Chairs Baby Adjustable Glider Rocker and OttomanDespite the name of the chair, this gliding rocker is not, in fact, patio furniture, but rather a stylish and somewhat old-fashioned looking glider that would be a perfect fit for an older home. The chair is upholstered with a comfortable microfabric set in a rich, chocolate color.

The rocker is fully upholstered, with padded arms and an ottoman for extra comfort. The rocking motion is very smooth, working double-time to not only sooth your baby to sleep but to relax you as well. The chair is amply padded for your comfort.

There’s nothing extraordinary about this rocker, but it has a charming, attractive aesthetic, is comfortable and very reasonably priced. All of these things combine to make a glider that is well worth the price.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Microfiber upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Upholstery on the arms is somewhat thin

7. Dream On Me Savannah Glider and Ottoman

Dream On Me Savannah Glider and OttomanAs a brand, Dream On Me is perhaps best known for their cribs, but they also make rocking chairs, as evidenced by their Savannah glider and ottoman. This plush, comfy glider is soft and easy to melt into after a long day.

There are a variety of available finishes, including white chocolate (white wooden frame with chocolate cushions. The glider rocks easily enough and the ottoman is great for putting my feet up after a long day.

However, I have one serious reservation about this glider. According to the manufacturer, the recommended maximum weight is a mere 150 pounds. I’m not a particularly large man, but I still weigh 165 in, and my wife weighed slightly more than that after giving birth. I’ve heard you can push the chair to around 200 pounds, but that still seems like a poor design choice to me.

Pros:

  • Microfiber upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Glider is only rated for 150 pounds

6. Graco Parker Semi-Upholstered Glider and Nursing Ottoman

Graco Parker Semi-Upholstered Glider and Nursing OttomanThis glider/ottoman set from Graco Parker is the epitome of soft and comfortable. The microfiber cushions seem to swallow you whole when you sit down.

One of the nice things about these cushions is that they are easy to clean, as long as you act fast enough. I also really liked the ottoman, which has a pull-out stand to help it stay firm if you don’t want it to rock.

I was amazed at how luxuriously comfortable this glider was. It was a lot better than I was expecting for the price. If you’re looking for a comfortable glider and don’t have much to spend, I wholeheartedly recommend this model. If you can’t swing it financially, there are some very cozy gliders for less, but this is truly the best bang for your buck.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Microfiber upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Can stain if not cleaned immediately

5. Stork Craft Custom Tuscany Glider and Ottoman

Stork Craft Custom Tuscany Glider and OttomanThis custom Tuscany Glider from Stork Craft is very much like the other Stork Craft glider. It has a variety of cushions and wood finishes to choose from, leaving you with dozens of ways to customize your very own nursery glider set.

This comfy, deeply cushioned glider has six fabric colors and four wood finishes to choose from for a total of two dozen different combinations. The polyester cushions are relaxing, and the wooden frame is augmented with wooden bearings for improved durability.

This is a pretty great piece of furniture. It’s easy to assemble, and it comes with a one-year warranty. It isn’t as comfortable as a couple of the other gliders, but it’s still a great choice and is fairly affordable. Recommended.

Pros:

  • 24 different color combinations
  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Polyester upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Ottoman doesn’t look very nice

4. Baby Relax Alexis Swivel Gliding Recliner

Baby Relax Alexis Swivel Gliding ReclinerThis chair is so comfortable. It is fully upholstered, with no visible wood, and it is upholstered with a soft gray linen. This is the first glider to almost look like a standard armchair, the telltale gliding base the only giveaway to its true nature.

Unlike most gliders, this one has a built-in reclining mechanism, making it even more relaxing than many other gliders. Although it doesn’t come with an ottoman, one could easily purchase one separately or simply leave your feet on the ground as you lean back with your baby. The base also swivels 360 degrees so you can take in the full view of the nursery.

There’s a lot to like about this glider and not much to dislike. It’s very comfortable and easy to recline. Perhaps the only complaint I have is that its modern, contemporary appearance might look out of place in a nursery. That, however, is merely a matter of opinion.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Linen-look upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Weighs 107 pounds
  • Does not come with an ottoman

3. Stork Craft Premium Nursery Glider and Ottoman Chair Rocker

Stork Craft Premium Nursery Glider and Ottoman Chair RockerOur third and final Stork Craft nursery glider, this one is the best yet. While it doesn’t offer customizable cushions and finishes, it does provide a superior seating experience. It is also visually striking.

Like other high-end gliders, this glider uses metal bearings for added durability and to improve the rocking experience. The plush cushions are soft and comfortable and made out of microfiber. The chair rocks very smoothly.

While this is a nice glider, I feel like it’s missing something at the same time. Basically, there’s nothing about this glider to make it stand out from other models, including other Stork Craft gliders. It’s definitely comfortable and well-made, but it lacks that special something that makes it truly great.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 250 pounds
  • Microfiber upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • More expensive than other Stork Craft gliders

2. Baby Relax: The Kelcie Nursery Swivel Glider & Ottoman

Baby Relax The Kelcie Nursery Swivel Glider OttomanThere’s a pretty significant jump from the Stork Craft glider to the magnificent upholstery of Baby Relax. While it looks like a fairly standard living room armchair, it’s a very comfortable, plush glider with excellent swivel action and a luxurious matching ottoman.

The glider is thickly padded through and through, making it very cozy. The upholstery is made out of soft microfiber and is available in three relaxing colors. It features lumbar support but unfortunately does not recline.

Although the chair and ottoman combine to weigh almost 100 pounds, it’s a small price to pay for how soft and plush it is. Assembly isn’t difficult, and although this is a moderately expensive glider/ottoman set, it’s definitely worth it.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 300 pounds
  • Microfiber upholstery
  • Easy assembly

Cons:

  • Weighs 88 pounds

1. Dutailier Modern Grande Platinum Glider and Ottoman

Dutailier Modern Grande Platinum Glider and OttomanThe Modern Grande Platinum glider from Dutalier costs a lot more than I could afford, but it is an amazing chair. It’s very comfortable, and the quality is excellent, and it has a very stylish design.

The velvet taupe upholstery is luxuriously soft and comfortable and is easy to melt into. The chair rocks very gently, and the all-wooden frame is well crafted and has a non-toxic finish.

This is a spectacular chair, but it is quite expensive and probably outside the budget of many parents. If you can afford to buy it, it’s worth it, but the quality isn’t so much better than some other glider/ottoman sets to justify stretching your budget to fit this.

Pros:

  • Can support up to 350 pounds
  • Velvet Taupe upholstery

Cons:

  • Challenging assembly

Conclusion

Picking the right ottoman for your nursery is a complicated equation that requires you to juggle economy, function, aesthetics, décor and the wildly different tastes of you and your partner. The Graco-Parker ottoman is ridiculously plush and comfortable. It’s not the height of style, but it’s soft enough to make up for it. Of course, I couldn’t fault you for going with the Dutailier Grande if you could afford it, and I like the many different color options for the Stork Craft models. No matter which glider you choose, I hope it is a perfect match for your nursery.

Top 10 Best Baby Carrier Reviews

Before I was married or had a child, I was at a Mongolian BBQ in Missoula, Montana. My roommate was flying out to California to visit his girlfriend, and I was his ride to the airport. We saw a young father carrying his baby in a baby carrier, and he made a snide comment about how embarrassing it looked to carry his baby like that.

Did I mention my friend was a lifelong bachelor?

Long before I had a child or even met my wife, I knew that I was going to be one of those dads who carried his child around on his back (or chest) with a baby sling. Having an idea of what I wanted gave me a leg up when it came time to do the shopping, but I had several suggestions vetoed by my wife because they weren’t good enough for her.

I was prepared, and I still didn’t have all the answers. That’s why I’ve created this guide so that you know what to look for in a carrier for your baby.

Things to Consider

Buying a baby carrier is a big deal. It is vital that your child feels swaddled, safe and protected. A good baby carrier is necessary not just for your baby’s physical well-being but their emotional well-being as well. With that said, here are some things you should try to keep in mind.

1. Front or Back

There are two basic ways you can carry a baby. You can have them against your chest or your back. Carrying them on the back can be convenient in some situations, such as grocery shopping or some other activity. However, when your child is on your chest, they can better hear your heart, which can help soothe them.

2. Material

Slings are made out of a wide variety of materials, from cotton to polyester and mesh. Obviously, you want to avoid any allergic reactions from the parties involved, but you should also consider how comfortable each material might be, both for you and your infant.

3. Adjustability

Whether you’re carrying your child front or back, there are different ways of carrying your baby, often even with the same product. In addition, your baby’s needs will change as they grow, which will require adaptability from your baby carrier.

4. Comfort

You don’t want to wear something that isn’t comfortable. If you try a baby sling and it just isn’t comfortable to wear, consider getting a different one. This applies to your child as well. If your baby seems fussy and miserable when she’s in the sling, you probably need a different one.

5. Price

Baby slings can vary widely in price, and a higher price tag doesn’t necessarily mean its the right product for you. Consider how much you expect to use a baby carrier before you commit to an expensive purchase.

The carrier is suitable for babies up to 32 pounds and can be used as a backpack to carry your toddler when they get tired of walking.

It is also made of breathable polyester mesh and is designed with extra-large straps to minimize pressure on the shoulders and back. The carrier is rated for toddlers up to 33 pounds.

It is similar to the Infantino carrier in so many ways that I honestly have a hard time telling them apart. They both have the same features and functions and are similarly priced. Either one of these would be a good choice for you to carry your baby.

It wraps around your body comfortably, and there are no heavy straps and no buckles that can break. It’s easy to wrap around your body, and the carrier fits parents of all sizes. Because the baby is wrapped so closely around your chest, it facilitates bonding both for the baby and child.

Because the baby carrier is made out of cotton, wearing it for a long time in the summer can get pretty hot. If you can get past this, however, this simple carrier is one of the best out there. It can carry children and toddlers up to 35 pounds and is suitable for newborns as well.

Conclusion

As you have no doubt realized by now, there is no perfect solution for a baby carrier. Everyone has different needs, and expectations, and not every carrier fits every person or baby comfortably. Remember, if you purchase a carrier and either you or your baby dislikes it, don’t be afraid to return it. Even if returning a product is a hassle, it’s infinitely preferable to having an uncomfortable baby. Happy shopping, and best of luck on your new bundle of joy!

Top 10 Best Baby Bottle Warmer Reviews

You can’t microwave breast milk. The radiation kills the nutrients, making it useless for your baby.

That means that if you use a breast pump at all, you’re probably going to need a bottle warmer because stored milk has to be reheated before you can feed it to your child.

You can heat it up on the stove, but that isn’t necessarily the best approach. You have to make sure to heat the milk very gently, so you don’t damage the enzymes and nutrients.

As you can understand, buying a bottle warmer can be beneficial for a lot of reasons. Not everyone needs the same bottle warmers, however. Some women only pump occasionally and might be able to get by with a simple warmer. Others pump several times a day and need something that can keep up with them.

No matter your needs and circumstances, we’ve taken the time to review a wide variety of bottle warmers. We’ve listed the best of the best here as our recommendations.

Things to Consider

Since the nutrients in breast milk are somewhat fragile, care needs to be taken when heating it. With that fact in mind, here are five things you should take into consideration when shopping for a bottle warmer.

1. Slow Heating

In America, we like do everything fast. We like fast food, short lines and driving ten miles over the speed limit. Heating up breast milk is not something that is meant to happen fast. As I mentioned earlier, heating it in the microwave or boiling it on the stove will kill all the nutrients. So it’s important that a bottle warmer heat the milk slowly.

2. Ease of Use

Most moms and dads aren’t rocket scientists. A bottle warmer should be intuitive and easy to use right from the package. Many baby bottle warmers have a simple knob that you rotate on and off.

3. Temperature control

Chances are you haven’t measured the temperature of your breast milk as it is being pumped into a bottle, so you don’t really know how warm they’re used to drinking it. At any rate, some babies prefer their breast milk at different temperatures. Some bottle warmers will accommodate this.

4. Compact Design

Everywhere you look in your house; you see things for the baby. Playards, cribs, breast pumps, rattles. Sometimes it’s nice to have something that doesn’t take up a lot of space. Warming breast milk is a simple task, and if you can find one that does it without taking up too much space in your kitchen cabinet, so much the better.

5. Price

Bottle warmers can vary in price by as much as a hundred dollars or more. While it might be nice to have the very best of everything, in reality, most of us don’t need the most expensive warmer, and many of us won’t be satisfied with the cheapest. Try to evaluate your priorities and rectify them with your budget.

10. The First Years Quick Serve Bottle Warmer

The First Years Quick Serve Bottle WarmerBabies are expensive, and a lot of people don’t have the money to buy fancy baby products. If you, like me, are working on a modest budget, this simple, affordable bottle warmer from The First Years offers just the basics while providing a nice, even warm for your breast milk.

This simple warmer is designed to work with baby bottles of varying sizes, and it is a cinch to use. Simply add enough water to the size of bottle and volume of milk in the bottle and insert the bottle. The light goes off on the warmer when heating is finished, and in case you’re preoccupied with a hungry baby (it happens), the warmer has an automatic shutoff. The warmer also includes a basket so you can use it to heat jars of baby food as well, once your child has progressed to that level.

This is really a simple, no frills warmer. There is no defrost mode or multiple heat settings. If you need a warmer with more sophisticated technology, this may not do it for you. But for a budget warmer, this one can’t be beaten.

Pros:

  • Works with bottles and baby food jars
  • Includes automatic shut-off

Cons:

  • Bottle warmer has only one setting

9. Munchkin Travel Car Baby Bottle Warmer

Munchkin Travel Car Baby Bottle WarmerSometimes life requires you to hit the road, and you can’t always leave your nursing infant at home alone. Breastfeeding in the car can be a challenge, and depending on your schedule, you may not be able to stop when your baby is hungry. Thus, having a portable bottle warmer can be very important.

The Munchkin Travel Bottle Warmer works a little differently than the other warmers on this list. Rather than a plastic device in which you insert the bottle, the Munchkin Travel is a polyester bottle warmer that wraps around the bottle. Simply plug it into your car adapter and go. A lighted display lets you read the dial by night, making this easy to use no matter what time it is.

This bottle warmer is only powered via car adapter and will not work for home use unless you have another adapter to convert the energy to AC power. Since there are plenty of bottle warmers intended for home use, there’s no reason to use it at home. For travel, however, it provides an ideal heating solution.

Pros:

  • Specially designed for car travel
  • Plugs into car adapter
  • Polyester warmer wraps around bottle for even heating

Cons:

  • Difficult to use at home

8. Philips AVENT Fast Bottle Warmer

Philips AVENT Fast Bottle WarmerPhilips AVENT has two different models of bottle warmer. This is their fast model, designed to provide you with a thorough, even heat as quickly as possibly.

The bottle warmer circulates the milk as it heats, preventing hot spots as the milk heats. The warmer comes with three different heat settings to different heat amounts of milk. The Phillips AVENT can heat five ounces of milk in as little as three minutes. In addition, the bottle warmer also has a defrost setting and can be used to warm baby food as well.

While there are better bottle warmers out there, this is a very good model. It heats quickly and evenly, can defrost breast milk and is very reasonably priced. An excellent choice.

Pros:

  • Heats milk in as little as three minutes
  • Works with bottles and baby food jars
  • Comes with a two-year warranty

Cons:

  • Milk heated quickly sometimes loses nutrients
  • Doesn’t have a timer

7. Maxx Elite “Gentle Warm” Smart Bottle Warmer & Sterilizer

Maxx Elite Gentle Warm Smart Bottle Warmer SterilizerIf you are looking for a bottle warmer that will keep your milk at a constant temperature that can be served at a moment’s notice, this warmer from Maxx Elite is just what you need.

Maxx Elite is super easy to use. It can be used to prepare your baby’s bottle in advance so that you’re ready to feed them as soon as they’re ready to eat. By using the “Gentle Warm” setting, the warmer will heat your milk slowly, preserving vital nutrients. Hitting the “Steady Warm” button maintains a constant temperature for up to four hours. When your baby gets hungry, simply remove the bottle and feed.

This bottle warmer even comes with a sterilizer that will remove germs and bacteria from the lid of the bottle. This is a great bottle warmer because it is convenient and easy to use, and is especially well suited for busy parents. I loved this warmer, and you will too.

6. Chicco NaturalFit Bottle and Baby Food Warmer

Chicco NaturalFit Bottle and Baby Food WarmerI’ve never understood the expression, “Like taking candy from a baby.” I’ve tried taking candy from my baby. He fights back!

Using the Chicco NaturalFit Bottle warmer is easier than taking candy from a baby. Simply insert the bottle into the warmer and turn the dial. It’s really that simple. The warmer can keep both bottles and jars of baby food warm for up to an hour. While it can’t maintain temperature as long as the Maxx Elite, it works for baby food as well as bottles, making it more versatile.

It also has an automatic shut-off, so if you forget to turn it off while feeding, no problem. The NaturalFit is a basic, no-frills bottle warmer than only does one thing, but it does it well.

  • Works with bottles and baby food jars

Cons:

  • Bottle warmer has only one setting

5. Dr. Brown’s Bottle Warmer

Dr. Browns Bottle WarmerIf you want a smarter way to feed your baby, you’ll love Dr. Brown’s bottle warmer. This warmer uses an LCD screen and smart computer memory to make feeding your child as stress-free as possible.

You can utilize the LCD screen to set the desired temperature for the breast milk, and the warmer releases steam to quickly and evenly heat the bottle, so it’s ready when the baby is. There is enough water capacity to steam several bottles before refilling, so you should only have to refill it once a day.

One of the features I liked was that the warmer has a memory feature that instantly recalls your baby’s preferred temperature, making the process quicker and simpler than ever before. It even sounds an alarm to alert you when the bottle is up to temperature. This is an efficient and effective bottle warmer perfect for any family.

Pros:

  • LCD screen makes for easy heating process
  • Alarm alerts you when milk is ready
  • Works with bottles and baby food jars

Cons:

Philips AVENT Premium Bottle WarmerThis second Philips AVENT model adds several useful features to the fast version, making this a more powerful and effective machine. Because it heats the milk more slowly, more nutrients are preserved, ensuring improved nutrition for your baby.

In addition, the bottle warmer also has a defrost setting and can be used to warm baby food as well. The warmer is rounded out by an automatic shut-off feature.

While this model doesn’t work as quickly as the fast version, it provides better results, making this a better model. For those who aren’t usually in a rush to prepare food for their baby, this is the perfect warmer.

  • Heats milk up in ten minutes
  • Works with bottles and baby food jars
  • Comes with a two-year warranty

An automatic shut-off system reduces stress by allowing you to focus on feeding your baby.

1. Baby Brezza Safe & Smart Bottle Warmer

Baby Brezza Safe Smart Bottle WarmerThe ultimate in digital technology, the Baby Brezza bottle warmer uses Bluetooth technology to make breastfeeding easier. The warmer comes with an app that alerts you when your milk is ready, meaning you can spend more time with your baby and less time waiting for a warmer to work.

Two different settings on this warmer work for any situation. You can utilize a steady heating that uses warm water, or heat up the breast milk quickly with steam power. It works with all types of baby food bottles and is suitable for both breast milk and formula.

This warmer doesn’t necessarily work better than some of the other high-end bottle warmers, but the digital app is very useful. I don’t use a smartphone, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of the app, but it is a perfect model for the busy working family.

Pros:

  • Two different modes for heating
  • Utilizes Bluetooth connected app
  • Includes automatic shut-off

Cons:

  • Somewhat expensive

Top 10 Best Baby Sippy Cup Reviews

Ah, the sippy cup. A lot of the purchases you have to make for your baby are serious. High chairs, cribs car seats, strollers: all of these will affect the comfort and happiness of your baby, but your baby will probably be happy with whatever sippy cup you give her.

Unless she hates it, of course.

Now, you may or may not need to be guided through the process of selecting a sippy cup. I for one was tired of all the deliberation and bought the first cup I saw at Walmart. But maybe some of you are just too tired to browse through an endless selection of options. You want to know what’s good and you want to buy it now.

I can’t say I blame you. Let’s get started, shall we?

Things to Consider

There’s not a lot of vital statistics to keep in mind here. I mean, you’re buying a sippy cup, not a used car. Still, there are a couple of things you should probably think about before you make your purchase.

Unless, of course, you plan on impulse buying like I did. Go ahead. I won’t judge.

1. Volume

None of these cups are going to be particularly large, but you might want to consider how much water they hold and contrast that with how much your little one likes to drink. Because you don’t want to have to refill q three-ounce cup every two hours.

2. Number of Cups

You don’t want just one cup. What happens if it gets dirty, or misplaced? You know that toddler is going to lose it at some point. Do you want to deal with the inevitable meltdown that occurs when she needs that exact specific cup or the world is going to end? No one does. Always have at least two cups. If you can get more than one cup in a single order, so much the better.

3. Color and Design

Kids like colorful things. Kids like cute things. Buying a cute, colorful cup is a sure, quick way to your little one’s heart. The unfortunate side effect? That cup and your little girl will become inseparable. God forbid the cup gets dirty. (Re: 2. Number of Cups)

4. BPA Free

This one is serious. If at all possible, try to buy a sippy cup that is BPA-free. After all, you don’t want those chemicals in your sports bottle. Do you really want it in your baby’s cup?

5. Price

This one isn’t serious because sippy cups are really cheap. At most, they might set you back ten bucks. That’s about the same price as an Extra Value Meal from McDonald’s. Are you really going to deprive your child for the cost of a Big Mac and fries?

EDITORS PICK

Even though this bottle was a little more expensive, I really liked it because it’s so tough and durable. I mean, kids are pretty destructive, but there’s no way a toddler is going to break a stainless steel sippy cup. Unless your son happens to be Hercules, I think the cup will hold up.

I feel kind of silly making a recommendation for the best sippy cup because they’re all perfectly good. My main hesitation is that some of these cups are aimed for babies making a transition away from bottles, and some are for toddlers.

Since transition cups are a little more tricky to handle than your standard toddler sippy cup, my recommendation is for the OXO Transition Spout. This little cup is designed to help babies from nine months to a year begin to learn how to use a cup.

  • 6-ounce water capacity
  • Clear bottle lets baby see the water disappear
  • Has measurements on the bottle so you can clearly see how much water baby drinks
  • Innovative lid design has a second lid to secure sippy cup
  • Bite-free drinking nozzle
  • BPA-free

10. The First Years Take & Toss Spill-Proof Sippy Cups, 10 Ounce, 4 Count

The First Years Take Toss Spill Proof Sippy Cups Ounce CountThis set of sippy cups takes into account literally everything I said earlier. At ten ounces, they’re big enough to hold plenty of water for your little one. They’re bright, colorful and lovable. They come in a pack of four, so you always have a backup or two when one of them gets dirty. They’re BPA-free, so you know no harmful chemicals will seep into the water. And they cost less than two bucks.

In all seriousness, these are not the best sippy cups on the market. They’re cheaply made, and they’re honestly pretty disposable – which is actually used as a selling point because they’re so affordable.

In fact, there’s really no good reason not to buy these cups. They don’t have to be the only ones you buy, but they’re so inexpensive that you might as well. It’s always good to have a backup. It just might prevent a tantrum.

9. Gerber Graduates Fun Grips Hard Spout Sippy Cup in Assorted Colors, 10 Ounce, 2 Count

Gerber Graduates Fun Grips Hard Spout Sippy Cup in Assorted Colors Ounce CountThese Gerber Graduates sippy cups are very cute and colorful. Kids should love the bright, cheerful design. Their ergonomic, slip-free design makes it easy for little hands to hold on to them, and the leak- and spill-proof spouts are easy to drink from. The cups might come in random colors, but I doubt that will matter much

As you would expect, these cups are BPA-free and perfectly safe to use in the dishwasher. One of the things I liked was that they have a little-personalized area where kids can put their name. This is good for kids who have siblings or who take their sippy cups with them to day care.

At 10 ounces, these cups are good sized, and that’s a nice thing for me because I hate having to refill my kid’s cup constantly. Really, there’s no reason not to recommend these cups. They come in a pack of two and thus cost less than $2.50 apiece. That’s what I like best about these cups.

8. Playtex Sipsters Stage 2 Spout Sippy Cups

Playtex Sipsters Stage Spout Sippy CupsThese cute little cups from Playtex closely resemble a baby bottle, so they make a good transition for those babies that are bottle-fed. This two-pack of cups come in assorted colors, so there’s no way to guarantee which colors you’ll get, but that’s not really a big deal.

These cups are carefully designed so that they’re easy to grip and hold, which is good for younger children still learning their grip. Spill-proof lids ensure that your baby won’t get their juice all over their clothes, either. And, of course, these dishwasher-safe cups are BPA-free.

In short, these are a nice, ergonomic cup for babies and young toddlers that are cute and easy to hold. They’re inexpensive, and they hold nine ounces of liquid. Once again, they meet all the criteria for a good sippy cup.

7. Philips Avent My Little Sippy Cup, Pink/Purple, 7oz, 2 piece

Philips Avent My Little Sippy Cup PinkPurple pieceThese cups and the next ones on the list from Philips Avent are probably my personal favorite, mainly because I like penguins and my son likes penguins. In fact, I bought one of each set for my son so he could enjoy all the penguins.

While this set is intended for girls and the second set is geared for boys, they’re perfectly fine for either gender as long as your kid isn’t too picky (no guarantees there!). As far as designs go, these are probably the cutest little cups I’ve ever seen. The purple cup depicts a little penguin snorkeling, and the pink cup depicts a penguin listening to music on her headphones.

As far as the cups themselves, they each hold seven ounces, which is a little small but not too terrible. They have soft-grip handles that make them easy to hold, along with spill-proof valves. Certified BPA-free and dishwasher-safe, the parts of these cups are even interchangeable with the blue My Penguin sippy cups.

So we have two colorful, seven-ounce BPA-free cups with cheerful visuals that cost less than ten dollars. Everything adds up.

6. Philips Avent My Penguin Sippy Cup, Blue, 9 Ounce (Pack of 2), Stage 2

Philips Avent My Penguin Sippy Cup Blue Ounce StageThese happy-go-lucky penguins are the boy’s companion set to my previous review. They are slightly larger than the last cups, and they only feature one design: a penguin carrying three brightly-colored balloons. One cup has a blue lid, and one has a black lid. Despite the difference in size, the lids are interchangeable.

And despite the difference in size and decals, there is essentially no difference in the sippy cups. They too have easy-grip handles and an easy-to-drink biting spout. They are BPA-free, leak-proof and dishwasher-safe. They’re the same price as the other Philips Avent cups and come in a pack of two.

If you want a slightly larger cup for your young one, I recommend buying these cups over the other ones. If you prefer a more cheerful design, the other cups have happier penguins. Both sets function perfectly and neither threaten your bank account.

5. NUK Disney Learner Cup with Silicone Spout, Mickey Mouse, 5-Ounce

NUK Disney Learner Cup with Silicone Spout Mickey Mous OunceMickey Mouse has come to help your child make the transition from bottles to cups with his cheerful countenance. This brightly colored cup has two easy-grip handles and a soft, spill-proof spout that is easy for babies whose teeth are still coming in. The spout is protected from germs when not in use by a handy plastic cover.

Made without BPA, completely leak free and dishwasher-safe, this is a great sippy cup to aid that early transition along. My only real complaint is that, at five ounces, it really doesn’t hold a lot of water, even for a little guy like my son. Although I suppose this cup is geared towards younger than two. Still, if it were just a couple ounces larger, I would have liked this a lot better. But everyone has different drinking habits, and this is a very well-made sippy cup.

It only meets three of my five criteria for the perfect sippy cup. But those are really guidelines rather than rules anyway.

4. THERMOS FOOGO Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel 10-Ounce Straw Bottle

THERMOS FOOGO Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Ounce Straw BottleThis bottle feels like a grown-up sports bottle in a lot of ways. It’s an insulated steel bottle, for example, with a push button lid that opens up to reveal the drinking spout. It’s also small, colorful and has a straw. So it’s a bit different.

Even though this bottle was a little more expensive, I really liked it because it’s so tough and durable. I mean, kids are pretty destructive, but there’s no way a toddler is going to break a stainless steel sippy cup. Unless your son happens to be Hercules, I think the cup will hold up.

Another thing I like is the cup lets your son be like daddy (or daughter be like mommy, but I’m a dad with a son). My son sees my sports bottle with its cool button, and he wants to push it. It’s sort of like when he sees me playing with a pen and wants to do it too. My son likes to push the button and pops up the cap over and over again. It’s great.

Automatically BPA-free, this 10-ounce bottle is perfect for a toddler. It keeps their juice cold, it’s a good size, and if nothing else, that button will keep them occupied for a while.

3. OXO Tot Transitions Soft Spout Training Cup Set, Aqua, 6 Ounce

OXO Tot Transitions Soft Spout Training Cup Set Aqua OunceOXO Tot makes several different products for babies and children, including high chairs. This sippy cup is another of their fine products.

This cup comes with a sealed lid to avoid spills and accidents as well as a drinking lid with a silicone spout. This is designed to help facilitate an easy transition from bottle to cup, and it comes with a choice of three different brightly colored lids. The cup holds six ounces and is BPA free.

I liked this cup, and I think it does a very good job, but it does seem a little expensive for just one cup. I think some of the other cups work just as well and provide a better value as they include a set of two or more. This cup is perfectly fine, but it’s not my favorite.

These 9-ounce cups have a leak-proof lid and are easy to drink from. They are BPA-free and certified dishwasher-safe. They are easy to hold and carry enough water or juice to keep your child hydrated for a long time. They’re also very reasonably priced, with each cup averaging less than $6.

1. Gerber Graduates Fun Grips Hard Spout Sippy Cup in Assorted Girl Colors, 10-Ounce, 2 count

Gerber Graduates Fun Grips Hard Spout Sippy Cup in Assorted Girl Colors Ounce countThese large, brightly colored sippy cups come in a random assortment of colors, but each set has two colored cups with differently colored lids. An ergonomic design makes them easy to hold and grip, and at 10 ounces they’re plenty large enough for most toddlers.

One of the things I like about these cups is the colors you get are random, so it’s like opening up a surprise. I’m sure you could make a game out of it with your child, and you could even use the different colored parts to quiz your toddler on her colors. The cups are BPA-free and have nice leak-free lids. They are also break-proof, so you’ll have to try really hard if you want to break one of these.

Conclusion

Who knew there were so many different choices for sippy cups? Admittedly, picking a bad sippy cup is hardly as disastrous as picking a crib you hate. Still, if buying the right cup the first time avoids a 2 AM meltdown, it was worth it, right? The OXO Tot transition cup is a good choice for transition, and my wife personally loved the penguin cups. I really liked the first cups because they’re cheap. Babies are expensive, so if I find an opportunity to be cheap without feeling guilty about it, I seize that opportunity. The important thing, of course, is that your baby is happy. Hopefully, this list helped you find the right cup for your precious one!
